X-Force #2

Opening scene Peter, Dr. McCoy, and Doug are all working in Dr. McCoy's lab on Peter's latest invention Spider-Bots. "How's it looking Doc," I said.

"Excellent" Dr. McCoy said as he was inspecting the prototype spider-bot. It was a small red robot with eight legs four on each side and eyes like the ones on Spider-Man's mask. With the design by Peter, these should be able to move stealthily for spy missions carry relief aid for people in dangerous situations and if need be fight alongside Spider-Man as drones.

"I just input the data you sent me it should be ready to go," Doug said looking up from the computer.

"Alright turning on Spider-Bot in 3…2…1 Go!" I say as I turn on the bot for its test run. We all stand back and watch the lights of the eyes flick on and off for a few seconds before fully illuminating. The eight legs spring to life and the bot adjusts itself trying to stand. It fully manages to stand up and looks around the room.

"Doug are you running a diagnostic," I say not taking my eyes away from my latest creations.

"Running now," Doug says whipping his head back to face the large computer screen. "Everything is fine no problems try giving it some basic instructions".

I clear my throat and speak in a clear voice "Spider-Bot climb the wall and scan the room". The bot complies and quickly and quietly walks from the desk he was sitting on to the far wall. It scales the wall with ease and out pops a little antenna that flashes a blue light over the room. After a second to process the information its findings were sent to my phone and the computer Doug was sitting at.

"Wow, it's scanners work even better than we thought" Doug exclaimed.

"It found and identified all the lab equipment and even reported back that Dr. McCoy has a higher than average body temperature".

"Doc are you sick," I ask with worry.

"No need to concern yourself I'm just covered in hair so I run a little hot," Dr. McCoy said looking over Spider-Bots scans. "I must say Peter your invention is nothing less than genius," Dr. McCoy says proudly.

"Thanks, I couldn't have made it without your help," I said.

"Now that we tested the scanners want to go over some of its other features," Doug said with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning. Before I could answer I felt Professor Xavier contacting me telepathically. (Peter come to my office now X-Force is needed).

"Peter you ok," Doug asks waiting for my response.

"Yeah I'm fine I just remembered I have work right now so I have to go. You two can continue without me" I say quickly then head out the room. I rush into Xavier's office and say "What's the emergency".

"Close the door Peter," Jean says I turn to notice I left it wide open. I quickly close the door.

"Alright, Chuck were all here where's the fire," Logan says looking Xavier in his eyes.

"The emergency is Raven," Xavier says looking Logan in the eye.

"What!?" is all Logan can say in response.

"Ah, Who's Raven," I ask butting into the conversation.

"Raven Darkholme AKA Mystique is a spy that works for Xavier she sends us information on the treatment of mutants in foreign countries that we the X-Force then deal with. But an hour ago we got a distress message while she was in Germany" Jean said.

"C' mon Chuck what's the plan we can't leave her there," Logan said desperately.

"I wasn't planning on leaving her all of you are to go to Germany immediately and perform a search and rescue mission for Ms. Darkholme," Xavier said. Jean, Logan, and I all loaded up in the Blackbird and headed to Germany. As we were flying I had to ask "What exactly is your relationship with Raven" I ask Logan.

"None of your business kid," Logan says defensively.

"She's his ex," Jean says casually. Logan glares at her for saying that and then looks back to me and says "Me and Raven are complicated there is a lot of history there and it doesn't help that she is in danger because of me".

"Because of you?" I say questioningly. "How is this your fault," I ask.

"I'm the one who got her this job Chuck wanted to hire someone who can collect intel and there is no one better at that than Raven," Logan said.

"What makes her so good" I continue with questions.

"She's a shapeshifter it's easy for her to be in and out of high-security building and no one would be any wiser for it," Jean said.

"A shapeshifter wow I've never met anyone with that power before is there any limit to what she can transform into," I ask.

"You ask a lot of questions kid," Logan says annoyed.

"Sorry it's just you're so elusive about your past and the idea of a shapeshifter spy that's also your ex piqued my interest," I say defensively.

"Were here" Logan says. He quickly lands the jet in what looks to be a snow-covered forest in Germany, and unbuckles himself and goes out into the wild. Logan sniffs the air and heads about fifty feet north and we all see something on the ground.

"Is that an animal skull?" I ask

"It's Raven's" Logan say's. He fiddles with it for a minute and out of the skull pops out a blinking tracker. "She's close by I can still smell her". We walk about a mile in the snow before Logan stops us. "You hear that," Logan asks us.

"I don't hear anything," I say looking around.

"Wait I'm sensing about ten minds surrounding us," Jean says with her fingers to her temple. Logan pop's his claws and says "Looks like we got company,"
