Spider-X Chapter 13

Opening scene Peter, Bobby, Kitty, and new recruit Doug are doing martial arts training with Logan. Bobby is sitting in the corner of the room and Logan is showing Doug the basics while Kitty and I are Sparing. I do a basic roundhouse kick to which Kitty easily sidesteps and trips me before she can pin me I flip backward and land on my feet.

"Why are you trying to hurt me Ghost," I say with the biggest grin on my face.

"Why don't you stay down you know you can't win," Kitty says inching closer trying to close the gap between us and throw me off guard. Kitty throws a few punches my way I block most of them with my hands and manage to catch her last swing and throw Kitty on the ground. I quickly get on top of her and manage to pin her.

"I win Ghost," I say confidently. Kitty quickly phased out of my grasp and got on top of me.

"Did you?" Kitty raises her eyebrow and asks.

"You cheater you used your powers," I said.

"You've been using yours this entire time," Kitty says defiantly.

"That's different I can't turn off my Spider-Sense and enhanced reflexes," I say

"You sure," Kitty says as she leans closer just inches away from my face.

"Ughhhh we get it you're in love and you both kick ass the flirting was cute before now it's just annoying," Bobby says in his corner. Kitty and I quickly get up and I say as I'm dusting myself off "You're just mad cause your single".

"I liked you better when you were the independent loner now your sassy and flirting with Kitty every five minutes it's infuriating to those of us who are single," Bobby says while rolling his eyes. Just then Doug lands face first on the floor.

"You got distracted remember when you're in a fight always focus on the enemy," Logan says disregarded the boy's well-being. "Alright that's enough for one day Doug you need a heck of a lot of training, Bobby you need to take this class more seriously, and Peter and Kitty you two are ok I guess," Logan says as he starts to walk away. I quickly check on Doug thank goodness he took off his glasses there's no way they would have survived that fall.

"You alright Doug," I ask with concern in my voice.

"No" Doug looks up with watery eyes. I help him up and walk us all back to the Kitchen. Doug puts his glasses back on and says "How do you all do this, why do you all do this I'm horrible at anything that requires athleticism."

"You just need practice this is only your second martial arts lesson," Kitty says to reassure Doug while I get started on breakfast.

"Yeah, you know the saying Rome wasn't built in a day," I say.

"But Rome doesn't make you clean the floor with your face," Bobby says with a laugh. Kitty elbows Bobby and glares at him for a couple of seconds. She looks back to Doug and puts her hand on his shoulder.

"I know training has been difficult for you, but it's only been two days you could be good at this and just not know it yet," Kitty says.

"Maybe speaking Japanese at Logan will confuse him long enough for you to get a hit in," I say handing everyone a plate with pancakes, eggs, and hash browns.

"Actually Logan speaks Japanese" Kitty says.

"He does since when," I ask?

"I don't know all I know is he spent time in Japan and learned the language," Kitty says while stuffing her face eggs.

"Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it but I think martial arts just aren't for me," Doug says with syrup on his face.

"What is your thing," Bobby asked with uncharacteristic concern.

"It's nothing special," Doug says shyly.

"Come on don't make us pry it out of you," Bobby says now annoyed.

"Well, it's just this app I've been working on I wanted to make a universal translator it would update automatically connecting itself to the internet and even know modern slang in every language," Doug says.

"What's it called," I ask.

"I've been thinking of a few names how does Warlock sound," Doug says with a little bit of confidence.

"Warlock huh, does that stand for anything," Kitty asks.

"No I think it's just cool, does it sound stupid," Doug says burying his head in his plate.

"Christ Doug it's ok to believe in yourself," Bobby says. I look at the time and quickly pack my things for work and head out. Right as I'm about to leave I turn around and say "I almost forgot". I sneak a quick kiss from Kitty, she tastes like sweet maple syrup, and I head out the door before she was fully able to process the fact that I just kissed her in front of Bobby and Doug. I web-swing to work and quickly change back into my civilian clothes in an alley and start my workday. As I'm putting today's stories in the paper I notice an interesting title Spider and Shocker Allies or Enemies? What is this I ask Mr. Urich?

"Oh one of Jameson's sources claims some of the money from the bank robber a couple of days ago is missing, and since its Jameson, he immediately blames Spider-Man for stealing it," Urich says.

"But the two of them fought and there were plenty of witnesses that can attest for that," I say defensively.

"That's what I said, but this is Jameson were talking about he found something and wrote a whole article about it. He's like a dog with a bone" Ulrich says while sipping his coffee. Unbelievable I think. I do something good and Jameson still manages to make me look like a criminal. I'm starting to think it's a talent at this point. As I upload the article to the site I read through it. It's mostly baseless accusations about the incident and his personal opinion about Spider-Man. The only actual information is The Shocker AKA Herman Shultz is apparently been in and out of jail long before he started dressing like a super-villain. He has a police file with charges out the ass everything from vandalism to attempted murder. I finish my work for the day and head home right outside the X-Mansion I see Storm waiting beside a Volkswagen. "Storm what are you doing and why are you dressed like that". I see she's wearing a black and gold form-fitting dress showing a decent amount of cleavage she's wearing a full face of make and she changed her hairstyle. She has an afro, but with her natural hair color, it looks like a cloud.

"I'm going clubbing tonight hoping to drink some drinks and dance with strangers or at least I should be if Jean wasn't taking her time getting ready" Storm says with annoyance at Jean.

"Right if I see her on my way in I'll tell her to hurry," I say as I walk off. Just as I'm going to open the front door I hear yelling from the other side.

"GOD SCOTT THIS ISN'T ABOUT LOGAN" Jean screamed as she opened the door and walked right past me barely batting an eye in my direction.

"JEAN WERE NOT DONE TALKING" Scott screams from just inside the house.

"YES WE ARE, BYE SCOTT" Jean and Storm get in their car and drive away.

"Peter how long have you been their," Scott asks while rubbing his temples.

"Not long," I say trying to get away from this conversation.

"Since you're here follow me to the Kitchen I need a beer," Scott says angrily.
