Chapter 29: The Fatherhood Feeling

Inside a hospital room dimly lit by the moonlight filtering through the curtains, Peter Parker stood quietly beside a bed. The young boy in the bed, William Nelson, had feline characteristics that made him stand out—pointed ears, a tail, and whisker-like marks on his cheeks. Peter stroked the boy's head gently, his expression filled with love and care.

Inside Peter's mind, the voice of Ddraig, the Welsh Dragon, resonated. *"Why do you like this kid that much, son?"*

Peter replied softly in his thoughts, *"Well, I don't only like him but others too. It's just a feeling, really. Why did you like me?"*

Ddraig's voice was contemplative. *"There were many factors: your attitude, your views of the world, your purpose in life, you being my host and me being attached to you."*

Peter smiled. *"Just that?"*

Ddraig chuckled. *"Well, apart from all of this, you are naive and green in some parts. You're like a good seedling that could become a vast tree admired by many. Grooming you would be an achievement, but it was more than that... yeah, just a feeling."*

Peter chuckled too. *"See? I believe this feeling is like fatherhood. Whenever I see these kids who are troubled and don't have someone to guide, take care of them, give them shelter and relief, I feel this urge to uphold them. They have their mothers, who do a great job, but the place of a father is special. For me, who didn't have parents, my uncle and aunt were my everything. Uncle Ben was my father figure. He holds a special place for me. I love Aunt May and my parents, but he was the reason I even go through all this hero stuff. No other person could make me do this, only he could."*

Peter looked at his mask and continued, *"He said, 'With great power comes great responsibility.' Although this line didn't do me any good initially, I will say I am the man I am because of this quote, and I will walk on this path. Although there come deviations, the essence is the same."*

Ddraig sighed. *"To make you say such things, I truly envy that guy who made you admire him so much that you live a life based on his one mere sentence."*

Peter smiled wistfully. *"He would have been proud that a great dragon who has lived for millions of years, many times stronger than him, is envious of him, a normal human."*

Ddraig smirked. *"Of course, he should be proud."*

At that moment, the voices of Peter's other personalities joined in.

Jason Todd's voice was pragmatic. *"So, Pete, what about Greer? The tiger woman clearly loves you. We can all see it. Why can't you?"*

Peter sighed. *"You don't understand."*

Ben Tennyson interjected. *"Then make us understand."*

Peter's voice was firm. *"This isn't right."*

Goku chimed in with his usual cheerful wisdom. *"Why is it wrong to be happy while also making others happy?"*

Peter's voice turned melancholic. *"Their mothers are troubled. They've made mistakes with their life partners. Greer, Susan, even Natasha and Betty—they've been betrayed by those pieces of shit. Hank left Greer hanging when she was expecting William. Reed has always put Susan and the kids down at every point just for some research. Those bastards just wanted Natasha for her body; they never understood her. Even Bruce betrayed Betty by having two sons with some alien woman. Do you know how it must have felt waiting for so long, rejecting so many, only to find that the one you did it all for came to your door with a kid saying, 'Hey, meet your aunt, my friend.' Like, come on, have some fucking sense inside that big head of yours. So much for having seven PhDs but no common sense."*

Jason countered, *"But aren't you different?"*

Peter's voice was conflicted. *"How am I different? Didn't Natsu tell me that being the Dragon King, I was supposed to have more than one wife?"*

Natsu's voice was earnest. *"And there are more than one interested in you to be your wife."*

Peter's frustration was evident. *"But it isn't fair to them."*

Issei, the Harem King, spoke up. *"Not fair to them? What do you know?"*

Peter's voice was defensive. *"To share me among themselves? What do you know?"*

Ben's voice was calm and understanding. *"What do we know? I had three amazing women who loved me and accepted me as I am, and me being with all of them together."*

Garou's voice was reflective. *"Even someone like me has love in his life. Why can't you? I was the hero killer, a criminal, a villain, but my friends, my master, and those two were the reason I died a hero."*

Natsu's voice was warm. *"I've already told you that being the Dragon King Slayer, I'm supposed to have more than one wife. I too have many of them. And all of them are lovely. I too was confused, but things just worked out."*

Issei's voice was playful yet serious. *"I was called the Harem God for a reason, idiot. I have many wives, some even from other races, but I love them and they love me. What the fuck is your problem?"*

Jason's voice softened. *"Pete, you're not the only one who has been through the torture of villains. I have been through it too. I was traumatized. I gave up on everything, let alone love. But then they came. I pushed them away, but they came even closer. It wasn't until one of them was hurt that I realized they meant something to me."*

Togi's voice was nostalgic. *"Well, I was shunned as an outcast because I was different, didn't have cursed energy. I was roaming around doing some sorcerer killing and met her. Everything changed. I got a home, two kids, then an assignment came—something that could better our lives. I took it, died... Was revived again, saw that she passed away too... Met some girls who thought they could fix me. I shunned them but got fixed anyways, loved them."*

Goku's voice was surprisingly insightful. *"Well, to tell you the truth, my love life is the most bizarre one. I just had Chi-Chi and Bulma, then more women entered my life. I never intended anything. It just happened, and it became like this. Me, who was sent to another planet after my race was destroyed, a lonely child, got a grandfather, a master, great friends, a very big family."*

Peter was silent for a moment. *"I get it, okay, but..."*

Nexus's voice cut in firmly. *"But nothing. You have a life ahead of you. These matters are insignificant. Everyone wants someone to move ahead."*

Peter fell silent again, lost in thought.

Suddenly, William stirred and grunted, "Who's there?"

Peter smiled down at him. *"Hey, Will. How are you?"*

William's eyes widened in shock and delight. *"Uncle Peter!"*

Peter grinned. *"Yeah, little guy. It's good ol' Uncle Pete."*

William threw his arms around Peter in a tight hug. *"I missed you so much!"*

Peter hugged him back gently. *"I missed you too, buddy. How have you been?"*

William's eyes sparkled with excitement. *"I've been good! The doctors here are really nice, and Mom visits me every day. But I missed you the most, Uncle Peter!"*

Peter's heart swelled with affection. *"I've been busy, but I'm here now. I'll always be here for you."*

William nodded vigorously. *"I know you will. You're the best, Uncle Peter."*

Peter ruffled the boy's hair. *"And you're the bravest kid I know."*

William beamed with pride. *"Really?"*

Peter nodded. *"Absolutely. You're my little hero."*

After spending some more time with William, Peter knew it was time to leave. He gently disentangled himself from the boy's embrace and whispered, *"I have to go now, Will, but I'll be back soon. Promise."*

William nodded sleepily. *"Okay, Uncle Peter. Be safe."*

Peter kissed the boy's forehead and quietly left the room. He swung out of the hospital window and headed towards the Baxter Building.

Inside the Baxter Building, Peter quietly entered the room where Franklin and Valeria Richards were sleeping. As soon as he stepped inside, their senses alerted them, and they woke up, instantly recognizing him.

"Uncle Peter!" Franklin exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement.

Valeria's eyes sparkled as she hugged him tightly. "We missed you!"

Peter smiled warmly, hugging them both. "I missed you two as well. How have you been?"

Franklin grinned. "We've been good. Mom takes good care of us, but we missed you."

Valeria nodded. "Yeah, it's not the same without you."

Peter's heart melted at their words. "I'm here now, and I'll always be here for you."

They talked for a while, sharing stories and catching up. Peter marveled at how much they had grown and how mature they were for their age. He could see the potential in them, and it made him proud

.

As the night wore on, Peter knew he had to leave. "I have to go now, but I'll be back soon. Promise."

Franklin and Valeria hugged him tightly. "Be safe, Uncle Peter."

Peter nodded. "Always."

He left the room quietly, swinging through the night sky back to his home, a smile on his face and warmth in his heart. The future seemed brighter, and he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
