Chapter 11
It lunged at me snapping its jaws. I fell backward, a meek scream escaped my lips. Lumbering over me it hunched back ready to pounce. The red shimmer of its eyes glowed in the darkness. Red eyes I thought to myself.
“Carson?” I whispered. The beast tilted its head as if understanding me. It was him. But how? How did he get out? That didn’t matter. All I knew was I was about 5 inches away from having my throat ripped out. I slowly backed away my hands clawing at the frozen ground beneath me. Every inch I moved away from him, he moved closer. His head low, his eyes fixed on me. “Carson….” I stammered. He snarled making me jump. I was back on my knees now. I held out my hand in submission.
“It’s okay. It’s me…. Everly.” My voice shook. Fear filled ever inch of me as I tried to calm myself. He didn’t move. He just stared at me baring his teeth.
