Chapter 36: Section Complete
White light eats me whole, swallows me and takes me over, sucks me forward into a tunnel of brightness that is all at once familiar and terrifying. Blinded, I raise both hands to protect my eyes as I roll over in a ball, spinning sideways as if the light itself is a river or a gust of powerful wind, though I feel nothing from it.
I hurtle to an instant stop against something hard, though I know I'm not injured. I remember this! Only in bits and flares of thought, struggling to hold onto Damaris and Vosh, to Blossom and Graldor and the memory of the Soulblade. Instead, as my mind fights to cling to scraps that fade faster than I can gather them to me, I hear a soft, female voice follow the musical ding of a bell.
"Selection complete. New stage activated. Heartbite scenario commencing."
