Good Tip

"This is the suitcase," Rama placed the suitcase on the receptionist's table.

The brown-haired woman looked up and stared at him with a dumbfounded expression. Rama maintained a neutral face, still smeared with a bit of blood. He said, "My reward, please."

"Y-You finished it alone?!" the receptionist asked in disbelief.

Rama nodded.

"You're not lying, right?"

Rama let out a slightly irritated sigh. "I did finish it alone. Besides, I didn't encounter many Supernaturals, so it's quite easy. Now, please give me my reward. I need to pay the rent."

Although she still couldn't believe it, the fact that the suitcase was there proved that the mission Rama undertook had been completed.

"I'm sorry. We can't provide the reward until we confirm the authenticity of these documents," the receptionist said, disappointing Rama. But before he could protest, she continued, "I'll contact the owner of these documents. They'll be here shortly to verify."

So Rama felt there was nothing else to do but wait. He hoped the owner of the documents would arrive soon so he could quickly pay his rent to his foster parent before she decided to kick him out while he was away.

Rama sat in the lobby chair of the building. The receptionist continued to eye him suspiciously and full of questions. Rama simply ignored her and chose to check his Stats Window.

'Hmm... Where should I allocate my stat points?'

The convenience of having all stats increase by one point with each level was a fact. But Rama was aware that he needed to start focusing on his stat points, or he would struggle later on.

"Alright. Let's add 3 to my Intelligence."

< Use 3 stats points for Intelligence? >

A text appeared in his vision as soon as he thought about it, surprising Rama. The receptionist, who had been observing him, frowned upon seeing Rama react as if he had seen something invisible.

'Uhh... Yes.' Rama thought.

< Intelligence: 3 -> 6 >

Rama nodded contentedly. Now his Mana was at 60, which should be sufficient to use Soul Fusion or Supernatural Perception for a longer time than before.

Rama waited silently for a few more minutes. There was a vending machine and cafeteria in the guild building, but Rama had no money at all to buy anything. So he endured his hunger until the reward arrived.

Five well-dressed individuals entered the guild building. Seeing them, Rama immediately knew they were the owners of the documents. Eager to receive his reward, Rama stood up from his chair and walked slowly towards them.

"Where's the suitcase?" a middle-aged man asked hurriedly.

The receptionist immediately handed over the suitcase and said, "Please verify the authenticity and condition of these documents, sir."

The middle-aged man didn't reply; he took the suitcase to a corner of the room. His bodyguards stood guard to prevent anyone from peeking inside.

The man entered the code and opened the suitcase. After examining it for a few moments, he let out a relieved sigh and nodded with satisfaction.

"I've checked it. Everything inside this suitcase is in good condition. Where's the Hunter who retrieved it?" the middle-aged man asked.

"He's over there, sir," the receptionist pointed to Rama, who had been waiting a few meters away from the group.

Rama offered a simple smile as a courteous gesture. 'Finally, my reward.'

"He did it alone?" the middle-aged man asked.

"Yes, sir."

He nodded, impressed. Then he turned to his men. "Give him a good tip. I'm in a good mood right now."

Rama's eyes widened upon hearing that. Especially when he saw one of the men take out his phone; he was likely preparing to give him an additional tip.

'Whoa, it seems my luck has been pretty good lately.' Rama, who had previously only given a thin smile, now grinned from ear to ear.

"Thanks, young man," the middle-aged man said to Rama as he walked out. He seemed completely unconcerned about anything other than his documents, and now that he knew they were safe, he was satisfied.

'He didn't even ask about the condition of the people who were slaughtered carrying those documents.'

"Hey, take your money."

Rama's thoughts were disrupted by the receptionist's voice. He walked over to her and took the envelope she had placed on the table.

"You're so lucky," the receptionist said.

"Yeah. I guess so." Rama turned around and headed out of the guild building, all while counting his reward. The amount was substantial, as he had completed the mission alone, plus the tip from the middle-aged man.

He had planned to treat himself to some good food after a long time. Luckily, there was a restaurant on the way to his home that he would pass by.

However, the journey back wasn't as smooth as he had hoped.

"Pretty good reward, huh?" a man remarked while eyeing the pocket of Rama's jacket where he had stashed his envelope. The man was not alone; two other men were with him.

Rama had seen them before. The three of them were members of the Veil Guards guild. All three were D Rank Hunters.

"Care to share with us? We could use some extra cash for cigarettes," the man grinned confidently as if he were certain that Rama would give them his money.
