Chapter 10 - School Life

Tosca and I decided not to teleport home right away, but to walk around the city for a while. First we went to a cafe and had lunch there, discussing the new school. Tosca didn't like our classmates, because she thought they were too frivolous and naive. And that was understandable, because compared to us, all our peers seemed like children.

After that we went to the park, where an unexpected meeting awaited us.

- Hi, you're Danielle-kun, aren't you Toska-chan? Do you want to be my friends? - A black-haired girl with pretty good looks told us. The fallen angels seem to have gotten cocky after I stopped hunting them. She's phoned in her emotions with indifference and irritation. She could have tried a little harder.

- The little fallen angel doesn't seem to know who he's talking to. It's okay, you're dead anyway, so you don't need this information, - I said indifferently, activating an interesting spell of space magic.

- What is this... - the girl began to say, but in the middle of the word just fell to pieces.

- Okay, let's go, Tosca, - I said, after the remains of the fallen angeless had been incinerated.

- Aren't we going to do anything with her? - my girlfriend asked, turning her head toward the bushes. There was one little demon girl sitting there. And I could feel her fear and pleading for help even from here. But no help would come to her, because I put a barrier on that spot right after I felt the fallen angel's aura.

- Let her live, after all, her mistress is kind of in charge in this town, - I said, flashing a smile.

After that, we left the park and teleported to my mansion. Tosca went to her room, and I went to mine.

- So what are you doing here? - I asked Sera, who was sitting quietly in my room playing some kind of video game.

- Danielle! Hello! And I came to visit, you said I could come anytime, - Sera said, smiling happily at the sight of me.

- Well, I thought you'd at least warn me before you came, - I said tiredly as I sat down on the bed.

- You'll know I'm here anyway, so I didn't think it was necessary to warn you. And by the way, I brought some good news. Here, - Sera said, handing me a box and a stack of papers.

- Is this...? - I looked questioningly at the objects given to me.

- Yeah, it's the Evil Figures and the deed to all of Gaap's former possessions. Except these lands have been practically abandoned for decades, so you'll have to clean them up a bit, - Sera said as she stood up and looked at me.

- And the only reason you were able to get it all so quickly was because of me. It took me a long time to get Ajuku to give you the evil figures right away, - Sera said, her nose up proudly.

- Thank you, - I said, kissing the girl on the cheek.

- I didn't do anything complicated, - Seraphall said embarrassed, blushing a little.

- Okay, how do I activate the evil pieces? - I asked Seraphall, opening the chess box and looking at the 15 black pieces.

- Just pour your demonic power into all the figures. Some of them might become mutable, but the chance of that is pretty small, - Sera said, looking at my figures curiously.

I did just as my friend had said and just poured demonic power into the figures. After that, one by one they began to change, becoming more beautiful and changing shade slightly.

- It can't be, all your figures are mutational! - Seraphall said in exasperation.

- Interesting, - I said, and then activated my long-distance communication spells, - Tosca, Maya, please come to my room.

After I called Tosca and Maya, the room fell into silence. Apparently, Seraphall, too, was curious about who I wanted to make my figures and what kind of figures they would be.

- Daniel, you called us, - said Maya, as she and Tosca entered the room.

- Yes, I want to make you demons, that's why I called you here, - I said as I showed the girls the figures of evil.

- Wow, we're finally going to be even stronger, - Tosca said cheerfully.

I decided to start with Mai. She stood on the magic circle, next to the evil figures, and some of them began to glow. But they were only pawns, and it was probably not that Mae was too weak, but that I was too strong. I put one pawn into Maja's chest, and all the other pieces went out at once. Maya was very cheerful now, and it felt like her strength had increased considerably, and was now about the level of Kokabiel, even stronger in characteristics, but in direct combat it would be somewhere on his level.

Tosca was next in the circle, and the elephant figure immediately lit up in front of her. I plunged the figure into the girl's chest again, and felt her aura strengthen and a small channel leading to me. Tosca was even stronger than Mai, and would already be able to defeat the same Kokabiel.

- And your friends are pretty strong, I think they'll definitely be on par with the higher demons, - said Seraphall, who was watching the whole process with surprise.

- Yeah, you're right, I've been training them since they were kids, so they have to be strong, - I said with a little pride.

- By the way, Sera-chan, could you tell me more about the servant exchange, - I asked.

- Exchange of servants? Well, it's pretty simple, the kings agree to an exchange, and then they both get into magic circles and swap the markings on the evil figures. The biggest problem in this case is to negotiate with the one whose figure you want to swap for, - Sera said after thinking for a while.

- That's how it is, I'll take it into account, - I said, figuring in my head that Rias would be very much against the exchange.

After that, Seraphall and the girls and I talked some more and developed a relationship. Tosca and Sera especially became friends, which was to be expected. Tosca always saw the others as silly kids with nothing to talk to, and Seraphall was a hell lord, with whom everyone but the other hell lords and her family all communicated politely and cautiously, which prevented the establishment of friendly relations.

When the girls were gone, I decided to call Silver in to discuss something.

- What can I do for you, young master? - Silver asked me as he entered the room.

- Did you do the job I gave you, Silver? - I asked him, looking at the map of my new lands.

- In part, lord, at this moment I have found seventeen demons of the middle rank and twenty-seven of the lower rank. All of them I found on the brink of death and helped. They're very grateful to you, and they're willing to serve until death, - Silver said.

- Fine, bring them all to the ritual hall, I'll give them all sacred mechanisms, - I said, teleporting to the dungeon where the owners of the sacred mechanisms were. Most of them were ordinary people, whom I released after the ritual with a good amount of money in their account, but there were a few criminals and just crazy people, whose sacred mechanism I pulled out immediately with a piece of their soul, instead of taking out carefully, using the Grail.

After I had taken the forty-four men from the dungeon and teleported them to the ritual hall, I had only to prepare the room itself. It didn't take long, and by the time I was done, Silver had already brought my future subordinates.

I placed a mechanism in each of them, which went just fine. There were only a few unusual mechanisms among them, and the rest were weak mechanisms, like a double cricket.

Among the forty-four demons, I singled out two that proved to be the strongest and most promising. I gave them quite strong sacred mechanisms, and appointed them heads of the guards.

The first one's name was Cloud. He was practically an ordinary mid-ranked demon, the only thing that set him apart from the others was his steely will and his talent in martial arts. I gave him an unusual sacred mechanism, the Monk's Armor. It's not a bad defensive mechanism that protects its user and enhances his blows with normal blows. Considering that Cloud knew how to use Touki, he was quite capable of fighting the strongest high-class demons and even defeating them.

The second one didn't have a name, so I decided to call him just the second one. He was an inferior demon with very unusual potential. His body could absorb demonic energy in small amounts, so he not only recovered his powers faster, but also had great resistance to spells. I gave him a sacred mechanism called the Enchanter's Ring, which could amplify his magic a bit and speed up his energy regeneration even more. This had the potential to make the other a very powerful mage who could cast spells like a machine gun.

I sent the first squad to clear the furthest reaches and build small fortresses to control the territories. The second squad, on the other hand, was to clear the areas near the estate and build a small town. Stores, cafes, movie theaters, and the like. I wanted to build anything on my property that could entertain me and make my life easier. Also, to lure people in, I would open bookstores here, where my first books and, of course, exclusives would be sold first. Because of my reputation in the human world, I was able to invite famous architects, artists and managers of big companies here. I have also invited several internationally renowned directors with whom I have discussed the screenings of several of my books. The first screening of the adaptations will also take place in my city. With the help of magic, it will be built in a couple of months.
