Chapter 29

Sonic squashed one of the many cockroaches. Revving up a Spindash, he too was able to go across the floor, walls, and ceiling. He split so many in half. A clear ooze that must have been their blood flew everywhere. Sonja flew out of the room, screaming.

"It's okay, Sonja!" Sonic cried. "I've got this!" He stopped for a second, tired from his Spindash. One cockroach jumped up and bit him on the arm, sinking its teeth into him. The horrible teeth came out the other side of his arm. Sonic screamed in pain and shock. His arm spilled out blood. It felt like being stabbed.

"YAAAGH!" Sonic screamed in agony. He fell to the ground, the cockroaches piling up on him. The cockroaches screamed and hissed as they tore out pieces of his flesh, fur, and eye.

"SONIC!" Sonja screamed, she reached out her hand. Sonic had saved her before, and now it was her turn to save him. Even if she would hate even touching the damn things. She burst forward, her ghost tail trailing behind her. She headbutted a group of cockroaches off. Then, whipped them with her ghost tail. The cockroaches hit the wall with a splat and a shriek, as they slid down slowly, leaving a trail of the same clear ooze.

She pierced another group of cockroaches and ground them up with her tail, as if it was a skewer. Then, the cockroaches were gone. The room was covered in the clear goo, and Sonja took deep and heavy breaths.

"Sonic!" Sonja cried, looking down at her hedgehog hero. He was... no more...

The cockroaches had stripped his flesh and fur down to the bone. Not even his shoes, socks, or gloves remained. Just a skeleton. Sonja's eyes teared up. "No... no... no!" She had been too late. She felt as though if she had stayed with him from the beginning of the fight, maybe he would still be alive. She felt like too much of a coward. And her cowardice had resulted in Sonic dying.

"Sonic..." Sonja whined. She felt tears coming back once more. "Sonic!"

The hourglass lied on the ground as Sonja was only concerned by the passing of Sonic. The sand was spilling out at a slow pace from an open puncture.

"Sonic..." Sonja muttered one last time, her voice cracking. "I'm sorry."

Bad ending reached: "A Cockroach's Feast"
