6. Upgraders

Rangga watch the news about Kamish Calamity. A lot of city destroyed, many lives that haven't evacuate yet, died. Soldiers became canon fodders until the elite hunters ready for their next attempt. He knew that this will happen, but he can't change this, he feel very useless and helpless. He need to be strong to protect his loved ones.

Who knows what kind of S-rank monster that will spawn near him in the future. But now he can only train so he can awaken at the right time. He can't slack off or his awakeninh will become late. Now he really hope to have a system like Jin-Woo, but Ashgar didn't have architect. At least he have an assistant to help his training. But that cat really eat a lot of fish, that his family start to get suspicious.

Rangga: "Hey Mochi, what's my strength compared to hunters now?"

Mochi: "You're at D-rank, but you don't have magic power. So you can win against an E-rank but D-rank is impossible."

Rangga: "Eh? I can win against a hunter without magic power?"

Mochi: "E-rank hunter normally only get enhancement in strength, they're like normal human getting dopping. But D-rank can start to project their power like making energy attack, or make a light. Start from C-rank their magic can be manipulate more freely, that's why mage are at least C-rank. Not only they have high magic, but they can project and control it, that's a mage requirement. B, A and S-ranks are the stronger version. So C-rank is the threshold of hunters real power."

Rangga: "Heeh, i don't know this. Hmm, alright so what level should my body reach before gettinh awaken?"

Mochi: "At least high C-rank, you can't have a very strong body before getting awaken, so that's about your limit now. Even C-rank body is very strong for human, but your body are getting nourished by magic power that start to manifest in atmosphere. Altough you can't absorb it, but it make your body regeneration faster. It also happen with other people but your body is special, so you can grow faster."

Rangga now understand what he need to do. Train his body, train his skills, good diet, and having fun. He need to have fun too so he will not stressed out. His family business also still good, altough there's a gate that appear in one of their mall, luckily the hunters can clear it before it become dungeon breaks. The mall also still operating finely after that.

Just when he want to go out, his dad come and sit beside him while watching tv intensely. He seem very serious and think about something.

Rangga: "What's up dad? You make such serious face"

Rudi: "Son, i just got a phonecall from USA Hunter Bureau. They want me to enchant their hunters weapon for the next raid. I didn't answer right away as i need to think about it first. What do yoi think about this?"

Rangga: "Hmm, i won't tell you to go or not. But i'll just say that if you decide to go, make sure that you stay far from the dragon, and immediately come back before the raid start. You can only make some enchantment for a few days, so they will ask you for S-rankers equipments. So don't push yourself to make for all of them. That's if you decide to go"

Rudi: "You said as if i will certainly go there"

Rangga: "Aren't you? If you don't want to go you will not have that serious face watching the tv now and instantly reject their invitation."

Rudi: "Heh, who knows"

Then Rangga get outside and go to his kendo dojo to train, he can use two style swords better now. He try using three swords again last week but his salive still flowing out and he can't talk clearly, so he can't say those cool skill name. Now he really gave up, at least he can say some cool skill name if his mouth is free. There's no need to say the skill name out loud, but hey, why not, he like it.

The next day, his dad take a plane to USA. He decided to help because he know that his power is needed to save a lot of people. He assure his family that he will take a flight back before the raid start, that means he will go back after his job done. He already told this to US Hunter Bureau, and they agree of course. He is not a fighter so it's normal to avoid battle. His flight only take 10 hours from the normal 23 hours because the USA send a jet to specially pick him up, as he is one of the most valuable asset for the next raid.

~September/12/2012, 3 days after Kamish dungeon break~

Rudi arrived at Hunter Bureau emergency camp at Iowa State as Washington is not secure because Kamish dungeon is near, so Washington is the first to be evacuated. The Director, David Brennon and Madam Selner welcome him personally as they need his assistance as much as Madam Selner. Rudi can upgrade weapons while Madam Selner upgrade the hunters. Even tough Madam Selner's upgrade is permanent, and Rudi's upgrade is temporarily, but he can upgrade more hunter's battle power. Madam Selner need long of rest after upgrading, but Rudi can upgrade as long as he have magic power left.

David: "Mr Rudi, welcome to United States, we have awaited your arrival. Thank you for your decission to help us. Your power will increase this raid success percentage."

Rudi: "You're welcome Director Brennon. As a human being it's normal to help each other. But my family is really worried, i hope you already make arrangement for my request."

They shake their hands and continue,

David: "Of course, we already prepare a jet for your trip back home."

Rudi: "Thank you for your understanding"

David: "Mr Rudi, this is Madam Norma Selner, she's a unique too"

Selner: "Hello Mr Rudi, thank you for helping our country"

Rudi: "It's my pleasure Madam Selner"

Then they move to Director office to discuss the plan of eanchantment.

David: "Mr Rudi, this is Madam Selner, her ability can let her upgrade a hunter power instantly"

Rudi surprised hearing someone can make a hunter stronger. Because everyone know a hunter power is determined when they awaken.

Selner: "I know you have your doubt Mr Rudi, but just think that our power is the same, just the target is different."

Rudi: "Well, i predict that someone with similar power as me will appear again someday. But i don't think someone will have similar power with yours Madam."

David: "Alright then, Mr Rudi, please enlighten us about your power."

Rudi: "Alright. First, my power can enhance a weapon power. I can mass enhance weapons and armors attack power and durability. If you decide to upgrade every hunters power instantly, then this is the best option, as i can make 100 a day, maybe 120 if i push myself.

Second, my power can grant some unique attribute that are not magic. For example high speed vibration to cut easier, bleed effect to enemies, shape changing, or rotation. I can make this for 50 weapons a day, so only some hunters will get this. You decide the attack in 3 days, so i can make maximum 150.

Third, i can insert a spell inside the weapons. The spell will originated from a mage, he will cast a spell after i make my preparation using some blood from the mage, then when the magic formed, i will tied it to the weapon. This spell later can be used and fired instantly by using user's magic power to the weapon. This weapon can be used by everyone, and the magic power that used will be less than when the mage cast it themselves, as the spell already there, so mages didn't need magic power to cast spell, just to firing. But it also have downside, it can be used for only 20 times as the spell will be broken, and the weapon will break after that. Also i can only make 10 a day because it's very taxing"

David and Selner are very surprised hearing this. If used properly, it can increase a country battle power fast. They want to rope him to USA but this is not the time, there's something more urgent now. David think about it for a while to choose the best enhancement. Normal upgrade for everyone, medium for a half, or high for choosen individual.

David: "Did your third power usage can be increased by using higher quality weapons?"

Rudi: "Yes, 20 is the standard when using normal weapon with normal spell. The higher quality weapons can hold longer, altough i don't know the limit as i never have a high quality weapom for testing. And it also affected by the spell quality too."

David: "I understand, then i want you to make a special enhancement for 10 individuals, and make normal enhancement for the rest of time. The raid will start at three days like planned, i will compensate the hunters that can't get weapons upgrade a better quality weapons. When can you start Mr Rudi?"

Rudi: "I can start today, i just nees to put my luggage"

David: "I understand, Madam Selner, can you upgrade Mr Rudi's power first then?"

Selner: "Alright"

Rudi: "Hmm? What are you talking about?"

David: "We want to upgrade your power so you can make more enhancement. Don't worry Mr Rudi, it's also to prove our goodwill, so you can make the same quantity like before your power upgrade, but i hope you can make more than before."

Rudi: "..Alright, then i won't be polite"

Then Madam Selner start the procedure to upgrade Rudi's power. He look at her eyes, then sometime later something clicked in him. He feel his power increasing a lot. His magic power is at mid A-rank before, now he feel like it became high A-rank. Now he can enhance faster and at higher quantity. He can easily make 130 normal enhancement now.

Rudi: "Oh, it's certainly an amazing ability, altough you seem very tired after using it."

Selner: "I need a lot of power to use it, so i need a long rest, i already push my limit to upgrade some hunters before, so this will be my last upgrade this year. I will excuse myself first, thank you for your help this time Mr Rudi."

Rudi: "Me too Madam, thank you for your gift."

Selner smile and go out from the office. Both David and Selner have a dissapointed look on their face for a moment after looking at Rudi's expression. Rudi didn't get enchanted by the upgrade, he just feel happy a little, as Rudi didn't care much about having this power, he only care about his family. They plan to rope Rudi to USA but it seem they can't. At least they have a good connection with him now.

Rudi: "Mr Brennon, i can make about 13 or so spell enhancement, and normal enhancement for maybe 130/140. Will you make the same order as before or change it?"

David: "Please do it like before Mr Rudi, if you can make enhancement for everyone then maybe i will ask something"

Rudi: "Alright, then i'll start right away"

David: "Yes, my staffs will guide you to your hotel and the workshop. I will tell the individuals that will have special enhancement to come and tell you personally their request at workshop."

Then Rudi go to his hotel and put his luggage. He immediately go to the workshop after changing clothes. There're a lot of weapon and armor in there. The staff told him that those are the weapons, shields, and armor to be enhanced normally. Rudi checked every weapons and shields as the armor is secondary for enhancement.

Sometime later, 10 people come inside the workshop, there're 8 man and 2 woman. The guide staff tell Rudi that they're the S-rankers that getting upgrade from Madam Selner and will get special weapon enhancement.

Staff: "There're 5 from USA, 1 from China, Brazil, India, South Africa, and Egypt. From USA there're mage Cristopher Reed, tank Thomas Andre, fighter Zack White, assassin James Scott, and healer Mary Hill. From China, fighter Liu Zhigang. From Brazil, ranger Jonas. From India, Ranger Siddharth Bachchan. From South Africa, mage Friedrich. And lastly from Egypt, tanker Abubakar."

Reed: "Nice to meet you Mr Rudi, i'm raid leader Cristopher Reed. Director Brennon already tell us about you, thank you for your help."

Rudi: "You're welcome Mr Reed, then we will start righy away. Please tell me your request, start from the tankers."

Thomas: "Hahaha, then i'm first. I-"
