A Proposal To Be Made

Guided by the succubus who's really close to having a mental breakdown I arrive downstairs again.I frantically start looking for Ashmodai, In the hopes that he would know what's going to happen.

Surprisingly enough, he was nowhere to be seen. Actually, no one was there to be seen. The tavern which I have only known for its vibrant party-like atmosphere feels desolate.

Looking for any type of confirmation, I scour the room looking for a figure to make eye contact with. My eyes quickly meet the ones of the bartender, who immediately avoids my gaze.

'Well, this isn't a good sign.' I think to myself, getting more and more nervous.

'I just have to play it cool, right? Ashomdai told me he was reasonable.' While these are my thoughts, somehow I can't escape this feeling of annoyance and dread.

Soon I've been guided to one of the tables in the corners of the room. There I could see a total of 4 figures: 3 fallen angels and an arch devil.

The angels seem to all share the same features: black wings, gray eyes, silver hair, and the bodies that you would normally only find in paintings. The 2 female and 1 male fallen angel seem to have received some type of order. They immediately walk away as soon as I enter the vicinity.

Taking a look at the arch devil before me, I must admit that I was quite surprised. What I see before me is a dark-skinned devil with these piercing gold eyes, a gray and white horn. He has a confident aura around him that quickly made me uncomfortable. Sitting face to face with him gives me the chance to take a closer look at him. He would resemble some type of greed god in my old world. The way he acts, his confident glare, the robes that look like something an old roman senator would wear, and the jewelry embedded in his skin.

"It seems you're really taking in the sight, aren't you?" he says in this confident and euphonious voice.

Looking at his face, I could blue small jewels embedded under his left golden eye. He's wearing large golden circle earrings and a large golden necklace with all types of colored gems. I didn't let my mind stray for too long however, fearing I would get on his nerves.

"How could I be of assistance towards the famous Ergilaaz Talvit," I ask in a calm and clearly calculated tone.

"Famous you say. You honor me, I'm just someone who likes to be involved." He answers, dodging my question.

"...."

Not knowing how to respond or what I could even say, I decided to keep my silence.

Ergilazz orders some drink called "Golden Tongue" as he also decides to keep quiet.

'Is this some sort of test? Why isn't he saying anything? Am I supposed to start talking?'

These rambling thoughts keep playing in my head. The suffocating silence not helping in keeping my calm.

A succubus servant comes up with his ordered drink. He takes a large gulp of it before he speaks.

"Would you like something?"

The servant clearly flinches as she seems to be very intimidated by his Ergillaz presence.

"No, I'm not in the mood," I answer quite crudely.

"Well to each their own, I guess." he answers nonchalantly.

"Anyways, it's about time to talk about why I'm here." He announces, grabbing all my attention.

"I've heard that you killed a pale orc in a duel. His name was Kor Ulto does that ring any bells?"

I frown as soon as I hear the name of the undead orc champion.

'Lying is probably futile against him.' I think before answering.

"It does." I say, keeping my answer short on purpose.

"Don't worry, you're not in any trouble. However, that brute was in my servitude when you killed him and no I was not aware of his little murder scheme." he says unconcerned while finishing his drink.

"So what do you want with me?" I ask, cutting to the chase.

"I would like to make a proposal." he says, his golden eyes glowing brighter. it's clear that he's in his element now.
