A Beast among Beast

A very deep frown appears on Ergillaz's face. Before him, after all, stands something unexpected.

"What is the meaning of this Volathriis? Why would you intervene in this conflict?" Ergillaz asks, genuinely puzzled.

The beast growls in return, showing merely hostility as its answer.

"Now I understand where her army stayed hidden. Probably in one of the underground abandoned laboratories underneath your district. I never even considered it with you roaming about." Ergillaz continues to speak, explaining his reasoning toward the beast.

"You're not fighting me willing me, are you? The chimera I know would not lower itself in front of a wraith afflicted by madness."

"…"

"SO WHY! TELL ME!" Ergillaz yells, his frustration getting the better of him. If Volathriis has joined the battlefield, the other chimeras from the abandoned district will follow. The city will know even more destruction and unnecessary death.

Volathriis skeletal head lets out a loud roar. However, it does not feel hostile. Another chimera quickly appears, some mix between something of a fiendish nature and some sort of lizard. Its scaly skin and dominantly humanoid form are a stark contrast to his hyena-like movement.

"Ello boss, you called meeeeeeee?" the chimera asks in a snickering tone, his face in seemingly eternal laughter.

Volathriis grows lowly towards the other chimer in response.

"Translator, me? Well, I'll be damned. My pops should see me now. You know like before he died and all that. Actually.... Maybe not.... That would mean I couldn't have killed him." The lizard fiend chimera rambles before he looks at Ergillaz.

"ELLO THERE! I'm Ha your translator. OH WAIT, BY LUCIELS MAGNIFICENT BOOSOM! Look boss, that's Ergillaz. You know, like that devil with the money."

"Grrrrrrr."

"You were aware, should have warned me. I would have freshened up."

"Grr?"

"Hey boss, I'll appreciate you looking out for me and all, but a chimera gotta do what its gotta do ya know?

"Grrrrrrrr."

"Oh right, I should say the thing. Euhem." the male fiendish lizard chimera begins to cough, clearing his throat.

"Euhem."

"eheum, eheum."

"eheu…"

"ROAR!" Volathriis roars loudly, showing his displeasure and killing intent.

"Sorry about that boss, anyway names Ha I'll b…."

"You already introduced yourself. Tell me what Volathriis wants to say, otherwise, I will rip out your vocal cords and wear them as a necklace." Ergillaz intervenes, having shown great patience so far.

"My master said that his issues are nothing to do with you personally." The chimera named Ha quickly blurts out, not willing to lose his vocal cords.

"Grrr."

"When his master betrayed my boss, he killed him and made the abandoned district his home. It became a place of refuge for those thrown away by experimentation. My boss thought it was fine like that, a church that can rule whilst he protects the ones who were abandoned like him."

"Grrr."

"However, my master was under the assumption that he was unique. The church began to preach about unity and combining our strength, an ideal my boss supported completely."

"Grrr." A surprisingly contained growl comes out of Volathriis's mouth, hinting at a more somber tone.

"…" The chimera Ha does not translate immediately as he wipes a tear from his eyes.

"So why were we not a part of this unity? Are we not part of this city? You all created us when you saw fit, but never did anyone keep us in mind. We're beasts, the filth of this city…. But we're still part of this city. Or at least we were, I guess."

"ROAR!!!" A completely opposite type of roar comes out of Volathriis's mouth this time. One willed with an unfathomable amount of rage.

"UNTIL I SAW THE HYPOCRISY WITH MY OWN EYES! THE CHURCH THAT PREACHED UNITY!…. UNITY!!!UNITY!!! THEN WHY DID IT BETRAY US! WERE THEY SO DESPERATE THAT THEY HAD TO KILL MY KIN FOR SOME RITUAL! THEY WERE UNDER MY PROTECTION! THEY WERE PART OF YOUR CITY! SO WHY WERE THEY KILLED!" The translator emulates Volathriis's anguish pretty well.

"Wait, wha…" Ergillaz tries to speak but gets interrupted by another growl of Volathriis.

"Why should I care for this city built of Falsehood. If those who rule it do not care about us, then we don't care about them."

Volathriis walks closer, an intimidating presence surrounds the grieving beast.

"I understand your rage. I would also not be able to stand still if those I care about were killed. However, I have to urge you. Following Anima's will is suicide, even more blood will be spilled. You're sending your kin to their death!" Ergillaz replies, sounding firm and convincing.

No replies follow immediately. There would be an awkward silence, however the battles in Lucille's Light are still going strong. Making complete silence an impossibility.

"Grr."

"Then so be it." The translator Ha translates his tone going surprisingly deep.

Volathris clearly prepares himself to attack, his killing intent seeping out. The other chimera called Ha disappears from sight in an instant. Ergillaz holds out his right hand, prepared to cast a spell if needed.

"I don't want this battle, Volathriis. Neither do you." Ergillaz says in a certain tone, showing no doubt in his words.

Volathriis attacks, rushing like a large hunting dog chasing its prey. A golden light appears in Ergillaz's his outstretched hand in response.

However, something unexpected happened. A force pulls his arm away, surprisingly enough the force does not feel magical. It resembles that of a physical weight pulling down his arm. Ergillaz has to cancel the spell to not hit himself. Looking at his arm, he can see that translator chimera actively pull his arm down. The chimera fiendish lizard is surprisingly hard to spot, even the gold dust didn't notify him.

"Mind giving me a hand, would ya?" The chimera asks mockingly.

Volathriis who has quickly closed the distance now jumps on top of Ergillaz with a great speed. The 2 figures somehow manage to crash into a wall of the arena that had not yet crumbled. Volathriis's claws tried to almost desperately tear the bronze skin of Ergillaz apart. Luckily, Ergillaz's defense of creating this mineral based skin managed to avoid any major damage.

Ergillaz raises his right arm once more, it turns golden in an instant and hits Volathriis on its skeletal head. Hitting the beast of him with a great force.

"Fine, if you won't listen to reason, then I'll just defeat you." Ergillaz calls out calmly, his goldenlike aura filling the area once more. Preparing for his second battle here.
