I stormed off from Brian and his brother Ryan, feeling angry and humiliated. I couldn't believe how Brian had spoken to me, despite knowing I was only trying to play the role of the more cautious and level-headed person to avoid an embarrassing situation that he would only end up regretting.

I tried to stop him from causing trouble, but instead of appreciating that, he dared to speak rudely to me and tell me to my face that I had no right to talk to someone who wasn't just my brother-in-law but was also someone I had nothing against.

His actions today only reminded me of the old Brian, or should I say, the real Brian, who thinks he's better than me and has every right to lord over me, just because of a stupid contract that states that I was his family's property.
