Chapter 1 intro

In this world... Mermaids* are gods. They fly through the sky with their huge bodies creating shadows over towns and cities, but with that shadow comes more life, rain, growth, and wealth. Their scales shimmer and shine as the sun shines on their bodies creating a beautiful rainbow peaking through the trees. This year the Mermaids have pups*. They were born not too long ago and are going to the sea to mature.

Mari* was on her way to give offerings to some of the pups as a gift. Typically she would have fruit and some candy that are safe for them to eat, but recently she found a sapphire. It's such a deep royal blue and it took a lot to polish it without damaging it. Mari wanted to give this to one of the pups though..it might get stolen by another person or another pup. Is someone crying? The sound of a crying child can be heard loudly like the forest itself is crying, but there is an area where the sound is loudest. Flowing that sound she walks towards covering her ears. It's most likely a mermaid. Nothing can cry that loud. It must be hurt. Moving some trees and bushes out the way she finds a pup that stops crying as soon as she sees Mari. So... Big. I have never actually been up close to pup but they are almost as huge as a human adult male. "Are.. you okay?" She cautiously walked around the pup examining the situation. "Um...I have this for you" she steps slightly closer as she finds an injury on her tail, left arm, and lower gills*. Holding out the sapphire and putting it down on the ground in front of the pup. They are in an awkward stare off before the pup looks down at the sapphire and slowly reaches for it. Mari pulls out some bandages and medicine out of her purse. It might not be enough to completely wrap around her body... Crawling up to her she gently grabs the pups arm and applies some of the medicine. Hissing from the pain she tries to jerk away but her muscles are too weak even for a human child. "Hey hey!.. it's alright. I just wanna help." Mari sighs when she finishes putting on the medicine and wraps it up in the gauze. Looking over at her gills thinking It's too dangerous for her to even touch them because she's so young...the pup could die but it also couldn't be left with all the dirt in it.. grabbing a water bottle and poking a hole in the lid for more pressure squeezing the water at the dirty infected gill cleaning out the dirt leaves and whatever else is stuck. By this time the pup is tired and is laying down relaxed as Meri moves down to treat her tail. No.. scales?.. maybe cuz she's still a pup... But she looks like a cute seal! Her grey tail and the soft blubbery rubbery texture on her tail feels nice. And the black, dark grey, and white spots on her tail are so cute. Wait distractions... Gotta finish. After a few moments the tail is wrapped up and she has no more medical supplies. Tapping the pup on the shoulder to walk her up. "Hey.. I'm done. Wake up. You need to go back to your mom" wait can she even understand me? She continues trying to get her up and eventually the pup wakes up still holding the sapphire that looks like a small blue rock in her hands. "U..um.. can you fly? You have to go home! Find your mother!" Mari tries to lift the pup from the ground with great failure and struggle. Lifting herself off the ground the pup floats up higher into the trees looking back at Mari then leaving to join the rest of the Mermaids and hopefully her mom.

*pups are newborns and are typically only seen once by humans as they go with their mothers to the sea they mature. They are also around the size of a 6ft human. No scales on pups.Types of pups: typically mermaid(common), sirens(rare), seals(uncommon), goldfish(uncommon), and koi(rare).

*Meri is a 6 year old girl who helps her father around the their shop to polish, mine, and make jewelry and expense gems for the city and royals. She also studies in medicine and wild beast. Meri is also a reincarnation summon. She just doesn't know it.

*Lower gills are gills on the side of the torso or rib cage. Typically used for breathing and filtering

*[Sky]mermaids are known to be worshiped and are gods to humans. They are able to fly though the sky, sea and sometimes able to walk on land. They reach sizes of skyscrapers and the elders even larger.

*From yours truly who's been...busyyy I found free time to do some more writing. And came up with this. I wasss thinking about a one shot and or different story! But this was the winer.. potential... update schedule: once ever two weeks or so. I'm a slow writer and I'm drawing the covers so be patient with me. <3 < p>
