Aaron, Monument and Alec walked out into a large open field, watching as the city of Spert faded into the distance. They had been walking for about an hour, and Alec was kind of tired of the walking. "Hey, Aaron, when are you going to show me your abilities? We've been walking for some time now, and my curiosity is getting the better of me." Alec asked, taking some deep breaths in-between his words, just so that he didn't sound like he was whining.
"Don't worry about it, Alec. We'll be stopping in a few minutes because I want to make sure that nobody is watching us from a distance. After all, not many people would be so dogged to get information on me that they'd walk for hours to get a glimpse of an ability I have." Aaron explained, used hand movements to show Alec what he meant. "Now, I think we can stop here. Ready to see what I can do, Alec?"
"Yes!" Alec yelled out in excitement, punching the air. He finally got to see what Aaron meant by 'his abilities'. Aaron walked forward a bit before turning around to face Alec. "Now, there are only two abilities that I have which are of any importance, and those are my summoning and my other skill. Which one would you like to hear about first?" Aaron asked Alec, giving him a choice.
"Um...would you mind showing me your summoning? I got a glace of it earlier, and you summoned a monster on the spot. Nobody I know can do that!" Alec responded, excitement in his voice. Aaron was someone he could look up to in every sense of the word.
"Very well then, Alec. Behold, my technique of summoning!" Aaron yelled, lifting his hand into the air as a black portal flew into the air, growing larger and larger with each passing second. "So, what would you like me to summon? Pick anything you want." Aaron calmly asked as Alec looked into the sky, terrified.
"Make a monster as tall as you can! I want to see how big it will be!" Alec yelled back, his curiosity finally taking hold of his body, refusing to let go. Aaron laughed, realising what was going on, and decided to take advantage of his curiosity. If he made a monster that was too tall, it would get noticed by the city guards, and he didn't want that to happen. He had a solution.
The portal shrunk down to its original size as it slowly moved towards Aaron. Aaron lifted his left hand, placing it into the portal. He wasn't going to create a monster, but he was going to scare Alec instead. Aaron pulled his hand down, and in it was the arm of a skeleton. He threw it towards Alec, who was looking at him in shock. He caught it, and when Alec realised what he was holding, a bolt of energy went through his brain.
"Here, toss that back over here! I'm not summoning a tall monster here! After all, that would defeat the purpose of coming out here." Aaron explained, extending his hand, waiting for Alec to throw the arm over to him. When he didn't, Aaron was confused. It was a simple instruction, so it surely wasn't too hard to follow.
Alec was looking down at the skeletal arm, wondering how the hell Aaron knew what the human arm looked like. Why did he there out something like that? "Hey, Aaron? Why did you throw out a human arm?" Alec asked with a disgusted look on his face. Aaron was confused as to why he asked that question, but he decided to answer it anyway.
"That arm is just a sign of respect. I call it the arm of legends. It's an arm that's used as a sign of trust and goodwill. If you want to keep it as a sign of respect, you can, Alec." Aaron answered, making everything up on the spot. He couldn't say that it was a replication of his left arm, could he?
[You know, lying to him might be your downfall, Aaron]
'Well, System, what do you expect me to do? Just say, "Oh hey Alec, just wanted to let you know that the arm you saw was a fake. I'm just a skeleton'. It would crush him, as he believes me to be a person with magical limbs.' Aaron responded, explaining his reasoning.
[You were the one who told him that lie if I remember correctly, which I do.] The system responded, trying to prove its point.
'Well, going besides that, you wanted a name? I was thinking, and I have a good name for you if you would like to hear it.' Aaron said, changing the subject. The system was intrigued, so it listened.
[Tell me, what is your name idea?]
'Memica. What do you think?' Aaron responded, presenting this name as if it was the best name ever.
[Memica...wait a second. I think that word is based on the English internet term 'Meme', which is a joke shared across the internet, usually ironically, right?] The System realised, as Aaron mentally shrunk back, preparing himself for backlash.
[Honestly, I don't mind it. At least I now have a name. It also is catchy. Memica. Memica. Memica. I think anyone would be able to remember my name now!]
'Well, I'm glad that you like it, Memica. It feels much better than just calling you system.' Aaron admitted as Memica agreed with him.
[Honestly, I can't even argue with you on that one. System's have feelings as well, although the novels from your old world really did not get that point across.]
'Hey, some of those books were still good, but I have to admit that in some of the ones with systems, the System is just a catalyst that never responded, except when you completed a certain goal, in which it would always say the same words over and over, just with different variables.'
Great, now Aaron and Memica were throwing shade on other books. Bet this won't go wrong at all.
Sorry for the late chapter, I was making an FNF Song! I'm working on quite a few mods rn lol
