He may call it a moment of spark for us, but to me, it was one strike, to the plan I had. A man walks up to me and I tear my gaze away from Mike and Smile at him.
Babe I've been waiting for you, I missed you, I said hugging him tight.
I don't care about that, it's over between us! He spat in anger peeling my hands from his body angrily.
But babe you're the only one I know, why would you want to break up with me? I said tearing up instantly.
You're so naive! Most girls know what a man wants, but you? You're so annoying you always have to be told what to do! He yelled.
Babe, please lower your voice we're in a public place. I pleaded with teary eyes.
Don't you dare call me babe he said lifting his hand to slap me but he was stopped midway
Mike's Pov
I heard this sweet voice and turned in that direction only to see this angel, she was breathtaking, She looks innocent too, and very captivating. The moment our eyes met she gave me a sweet smile, but it didn't last long since her guy showed up and she rushed to hug him. I was about to give up when her boyfriend started rai ing insults at her, she kept begging but he was being a total asshole, I don't even know why I'm bothered but seeing her cry affects me, I tried to ignore but then he raised his hand to slap her. That's how I cut in to stop him from laying hands on her.
I stumbled back, gasping for air as Mike held his arm in a vice-like grip. His eyes were blazing with anger as he glared at Ellad.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Mike growled, his voice laced with a dangerous edge.
Ellad sneered and tried to shrug off Mike's grip. "None of your business, man. This is between us." She's my girlfriend.
"It becomes my business when you're about to hit a woman," Mike snapped back, his grip tightening even more.
I watched in awe as Mike towered over Ellad, his muscular frame matching Ellad's height, it was a sight to see. It was hard to believe that these two men were even of the same species but little did Mike know that Ellad could kill him if he wanted to, but an act had to stay an act.
Ellad looked like he was about to say something else, but decided against it. He pulled his arm free from Mike's grip and stalked away, muttering something under his breath. Wow, who would have thought, that Ellad could act this well? I thought feeling impressed.
I feigned being in shock as Mike turned to me, concern etched into his features. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.
I sniffled, wiping away a tear as I nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thank you." Poor thing doesn't know he's just a prey, I thought within.
I don't think staying here will be good for you, how about I take you home? He proposed with a worried frown.
I'll be fine, looks like I'll go to a bar or something, I said faking hurt as he frowned.
But you don't look like the type...
I don't need to look like the type, I need to even if I'm new to this, I just want to do something new to calm me down. I screamed at him.
Fine! Calm down okay, I was trying to help.
I'm leaving, she said walking away.
I couldn't believe I had gotten myself into this situation, babysitting a complete stranger. As I chased her down the street, I couldn't help but think about what had led me to this bizarre moment. This girl was clearly in trouble, and I couldn't just leave her to fend for herself.
You should stop this, it's not the end of the world. I tried to convince her.
It is, ..love is fake. No one loves me! I screamed faking sadness.
That's not true, he said trying to convince me.
It's true, I answered back. Who would have thought he'd be chasing me around sheepishly?
As we drove to a nearby bar, I tried my best to steer her away from the booze. But she was determined, downing one drink after another with reckless abandon. I knew I had to intervene before things got out of hand.
"Listen, you can't keep doing this to yourself," I pleaded with her. "Love may be complicated, but it's not fake. There are people out there who care about you."
But she just smirked and shook her head. "You don't understand," she scoffed, taking another sip of her drink. "No one loves me. Everyone leaves eventually."
I felt a pang of sympathy for her. She had been hurt by this boyfriend of hers and was struggling to accept the sad reality. But I refused to give up on her. I took a deep breath and tried again.
"You're wrong," I said firmly. "I care about you. And I'm not leaving until I know you're okay."
Her eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, she seemed to soften. "Why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Wow, superhero I thought with sarcasm.
"Because everyone deserves a chance to be happy," I replied, taking her hand in mine. "Even you."
We sat there for a while, talking about life and love and everything in between. And as the night wore on, I realized that maybe, just maybe, I had been sent here for a reason. Maybe this girl wasn't just a stranger after all - maybe she was someone who needed my help. And maybe, just maybe, I was the one who needed her too.
My plan was too successful and I was sure of having him exactly where I wanted him. We exchanged contacts and I was the perfect girl he ever dreamed of. Two weeks later I informed him of my departure and he was all pathetic saying he loves me and I told him I'll respond when I get back. I decided to call Liam and inform him of my return.
CALLING LIAM
Hello?
Nalani! You took longer than expected, he says honestly.
It was worth the time, I say with a confident smile.
So, when are you coming back?
Tonight!
Thank goodness I'm so exhausted from acting in two places at the same time.
Calm down Liam, you're not going to die. I said sarcastically.
