Ghetto of Regret

There was a betrayer in the rebellion group.

"I knew," said Ivan.

His word made both Lucas and Rene were surprised, they had expected that Ivan should be a little bit confused, but this guy still didn't change his face anymore. For them, Ivan was so annoyed, he was a very boring strange guy!

"Hey! She said there's a traitor! Don't you hear it!" Lucas argued.

"I said I knew, that's the reason why her brother was killed, it's simply," Ivan explained, for him, it was quite easy to understand, and that was the reason why the secret was revealed.

He didn't understand why Lucas had to shout. In his idea, Lucas got over-excited. However, he could let him act over action as much as he wanted, he still had business with Rene.

"My young lady, I know you're upset with this incident, but for your own safety, I don't think it's a good idea to keep that data with you, give it to me, and I'll help you run away from here, you can have a new life somewhere," that was the best choice, Ivan thought.

But, Ivan still didn't notice that he couldn't use the basic instinct with this woman. And in the near future, he would have to learn to deal with these two abnormal creatures beside him.

"No! I'm going to find that traitor! For the sake of my brother!" Rene almost screamed and she made Ivan was headache immediately.

"What?"

"I said I'm going to find the one who made my brother was killed!" Rene didn't cry anymore, in contrast, her eyes were full of vengeful. "If you want this data, you have to help me find the traitor before!"

That moment, Ivan felt he really wanted to scream, such the annoyed woman!

For Lucas, he still got angry and furious, he may feel sad for her brother, but he didn't feel pity for her, there were many people who cried because of her. She was one of the corrupt officers!

"You seemed to have a heart, what you feel right now is what we felt, miss attorney," said Lucas.

SLAP!

Suddenly, Rene slapped Lucas's face with anger.

"I may be a bad woman, but you're either not a good guy! Don't pretend to be a hero!" she shouted.

"You!" Lucas seemed angry too.

And then, they fought each other again, and Ivan had to try to hold his temper again. It was like a cat and a dog were barking at each other. His question was why he had to be in the middle!

These kids were so noisy!!

Before Ivan made them shut up, suddenly something made him feel bad, immediately, before he could notice the beams shot them and there were several drones flying from the entrance of the factory.

They were official military weapons!

"Watch out!" it was Ivan who created a barrier for the three of them. Meanwhile, Rene pointed her pistol to the front, but she immediately knew that it was useless.

In front of them, there were various kinds of military weapons, now, the drones had carpet-bombed on the ground, and the robot fighters were running into them with laser swords. If they had no Ivan's barrier, they should be killed in the blink of an eye.

"We've to run away from here, I can't protect both of you and fight them back at the same time, don't you know anywhere to go, my dear kids," Ivan still mocked both of them, but he spoke the truth.

He may be the strong Esper, but protection and fighting were not the same meaning. He could do only one thing.

He could survive without them, the most reasonable solution was he should leave Lucas and snatch the data from Rene. They were not his mission, but…it seemed he didn't want to do that.

"Tell me! Where should we go!" Ivan shouted again. He wanted to fight, but he didn't want to leave the two of them here too.

They had to run away!

But Rene had no idea, she had lived in the light all her life, everywhere she used to go was recorded by the government, everyone she used to meet couldn't trust now. She had no place to go right now.

"I have!" it was Lucas, "I've some idea!"

"Good! Don't speak! Touch my hand and I'll use telepathy!" Ivan asked, he knew that robots could record their conversation, so they couldn't speak.

Suddenly Lucas touched his right hand.

Lucas could feel it, when his mind and Ivan connected, he could feel something in Ivan's mind, no it was his heart, Ivan's heart. His heart was so cold as frozen ice, dark and like a misery.

No, Lucas could feel more than that, there was some strange feeling that Lucas couldn't explain. How could he say?

Are you sad? Are you crying? Are you sorrowful, Ivan?

"Don't be rude. Don't read my mind, my dear Lucas," Ivan warned with his smirk, but suddenly, he used his power again.

At that moment, all of them disappeared from that place!

When they opened their eyes, now they were standing in the very dark, dirty and silent town, there were several rats running every corner of the dark alley, the houses were broken, and there were no people around here. Here, it was completely quiet as a graveyard.

"Where're we?" Rene asked, she felt so cold and afraid, but she couldn't show her weakness. "There're no people."

"Of course, it's Necropolis of the Rigel. The place where the government abandoned it," Lucas said and he walked forward. It seemed he knew this place well. "I know where we can hide before the army follows us, let's hurry!"

There was no time to hesitate. The three of them walked side by side in the darkness. It was like Lucas had said, this place was actually the necropolis, there were no people around here, only ruins and the smell of the dead.

They walked through the old market and many wreckage houses until the end of the main road, then they could see…the church.

The small church used to be white, but now it was green by moss and fungus, the top of the building was broken. Rene felt afraid with this place and she was worried that Lucas may hurt her for revenge, but when she noticed in his eyes, she could see…tear?

It seemed he was going to cry.

"You seem to have some history with this place," Rene asked, she hesitated, but she also was curious.

"Why not?" Lucas smiled sadly. He didn't want to argue with her anymore. Not in this memorial place.

When he opened the broken front door of the entrance, he really felt overwhelmed with the past, with his entire memory.

It was like everything had happened yesterday, he still could see the smile of the brother at the front of the altar, his warm sound still rang in his ears.

"Welcome home, Lucas."

"I back brother," said he.

Only his words, both Ivan and Rene had no question.

"Your home?" Ivan asked.

"I used to live here, but…" he glanced at Rene before he sighed, he knew it was not all her fault, but he couldn't forgive, "a long time ago, the government announced that people here were part of the rebel, and…they killed them all, it was a cold-blooded massacre."

That was another story of him.
