Chapter 5

It was time for dinner and we were all sitting on in the dining room and eating dinner, it was uncomfortably quiet. "Mr and Mrs Courtney my wife and I have been thinking about something." My father said. I wonder what this greedy old bag wanted to say this time. "What is it." Mr Courtney asked, he had such a nice voice, it was warm and fatherly like, his son must be lucky to have a dad like that, I wonder if he has other children. Oh what am I thinking it doesn't matter if his voice sounds good what if he is just like my heartless father? "Well, we were thinking that our daughter and your son should get married tomorrow instead of next week, I am sure that your son would want that too." My father said, with a smile on his face. I seriously wish that I could jump across the table and beat the life out of him. Mr and Mrs Courtney exchanged looks, it kinda looked like they didn't like my dad's idea. I mean who does. "Uhm Mr Xavier aren't you rushing things, besides it doesn't matter if she gets married today or tomorrow or next year she will be leaving with us tonight." Mr Courtney said. I could see the nervous look on his face, did he really not want me to be under his care anymore so fast or maybe he just wanted the money fast so that he can buy the white house. "Sorry, I was just saying I thought that you were in a hurry, hahahaha." My father said with a nervous laugh. I could tell that they weren't happy with my dad and that they wanted to leave quickly. We all continued eating in silence.

After eating dinner it was time to go, we were now standing outside the house. "OH my baby girl I am going to miss you so much, I can't believe that you are leaving, I will surely miss you." My mother said with fake tears in her eyes, I seriously felt like slapping that pretentious face of hers. "He a good girl and do not upset your future in laws especially your husband dear okay." She said I just nodded in response, this duo was too fake, thank goodness I didn't have a sibling, I don't know what I would do if I had to leave a sibling behind with this pretentious duo. "Okay you should go now." My dad said, my suitcases were already in the car. Mrs Courtney and her husband were waiting for me in their car. I turned around and I walked towards the car, I opened the door and I got in. Finally, I was finally leaving this fake people, the people that pretended to love for 16 years if my life, I just hope and pray that my new family won't pretend to be nice to me and then sell me off to some people like my parents did, I'm just grateful that they didn't send me to some old man.

As the car drove off i didn't look back at my parents, I was really going to miss this place, it won't be easy to forget the place where I grew up, this place has a lot of good and bad memories but it was still my home, the thing is now I feel like this place should have never been my home and I should have never had those people as my parents. I felt tears running down my cheeks I quickly wiped them cursing them for embarrassing me. "It's okay to cry dear, it's never easy to leave your home, especially since you are still young." Mrs Courtney said. "I couldn't care less about this place." I said. I could feel that my body was filled with anger. "Yeah I know especially since you have those demons as your parents." Mrs Courtney said and I was a little shocked by her words. "Do you want to know why our son agreed to marry you?" She asked me, and I shook my head. "Well he did it to save you." She said, save me how? "What do you mean?" I asked her. "Well... Your parents came to us the day before yesterday and asked for a huge sum of money from us to pay off their debts and save their company. We said no because it was a huge amount of money and we wouldn't gain anything from helping your parents actually we would suffer a huge loss. So your parents kept begging us and they told us that they were willing to sell you to us if it meant doing it. We were really shocked when we heard them say that, they took out your picture and they showed it to us, that's when I realized that you are a teenager so I quickly disagreed because our son is 28 years old so there is no way I would let a little girl marry someone who is 12 years older than her just so her parents can become rich. They knew that we wouldn't agree so the left your photo and your number and when our son came back from his meeting. We told him what had happened and we showed him your picture and he told them that we should call them and tell them that he accepts the marriage proposal and that he would give them thrice the money that they asked for and when we asked him why he said that he did it to save you because who knows if your parents had failed to convince us they probably would sell you off to anyone maybe even a 6o year old man, we agreed with him so we called them and agreed. "She said. My eyes couldn't hold back anymore and I felt tears running down my eyes and I felt my heart break for the millionth time today. This was a lot for me to take in, was she telling the truth were my parents really going to sell me off to anyone just for money. "I know that it is a lot to take in all at once dear but don't worry you are in good hands now and don't worry we won't let your parents near you if that us what you want." Mr Courtney said. Wow now I was even more glad that u was leaving those people I never wanted to see their ugly faces again. They really are wolves in sheep clothing aren't they. I just hope that karma hits them hard.
