Chapter -9.
"Ye Chen, you're really strong!"
Tang San felt a knot in his stomach as he noticed the smug look on the blond guy's face. It was clear that he couldn't gauge his opponent's strength, which meant this guy was likely way more powerful than him.
Right now, Tang San was at the level of a 29th rank Great Soul Master.
If this blond guy was stronger, he had to be at least a 30th rank, which meant he was a Soul Sovereign.
Without using his hidden weapons, Tang San felt like he wouldn't stand a chance. Ye Chen had only been at level 1 six years ago; how much could he have improved in that time?
With that thought in mind, Tang San couldn't help but say, "Let me take him on! I want you to see what I've accomplished in these six years. Remember our promise?"
"Of course, I remember! The main reason I came to Soto City was to find you, Xiao San," Ye Chen replied with a smile. He was confident in his own abilities, no matter who ended up fighting.
"Hey, are you two done chatting? Let's get this fight started!"
The blond guy, who had different colored eyes, seemed a bit impatient. He shouted, "White Tiger Possession!"
In a flash, a massive white tiger appeared behind him, and a purple soul ring burst forth, causing quite a stir among the guests in the hotel lobby.
"Whoa, a Thousand-Year Soul Ring! He's a 37th rank Battle Soul Sovereign!"
Tang San gasped in surprise and quickly summoned his martial soul, Blue Silver Grass, to get ready for battle.
But the blond guy wasn't interested in fighting him. Instead, he stomped his foot, cracking the marble floor like a spider web, and then charged at Ye Chen with incredible speed.
"Ye Chen, watch out!" Tang San shouted, startled. "Blue grass, Entangle!" He quickly used his martial soul skills to try to protect Ye Chen.
Unfortunately, Tang San's skills needed a moment to grow. Just as the Blue Silver Grass reached out, the blond guy was sent flying like a cannonball Ye Chen, crashing through the hotel door and rolling outside.
The sudden turn of events left Xiao Wu, who was nearby, speechless, and even Tang San stared at Ye Chen in shock, murmuring, "Two Thousand-Year Soul Rings?"
The two purple soul rings surrounding Ye Chen shone brightly. He hadn't even drawn his Demon Abyss Sword, and the blond guy was already down for the count.
"That was too easy!"
After brushing off the dust from his clothes, Ye Chen put away his soul rings and tossed a few gold coins to the front desk clerk, saying, "Let's get a room."
"Absolutely! Please follow me upstairs, honored guest."
The clerk, quick on the uptake, led Ye Chen and the others to the most luxurious imperial suite.
The spacious room felt like a palace, with a long red carpet leading to the master bedroom. The exquisite crystal chandelier in the living room sparkled beautifully, casting a warm glow.
Once the door was closed, Tang San pulled Ye Chen down onto the sofa and looked at him seriously.
"Brother Chen, what level are you at now? How do you have two thousand-year soul rings at the same time?"
If he remembered correctly, you had to be above level 30 to absorb a thousand-year soul ring. Could it be that Ye Chen was already at level 40? It was hard to believe!
Seeing the confusion in Tang San's eyes, Ye Chen waved his hand and chuckled, "Oh, my talent is just not that great. I've been training for six years and just hit level 30. Getting to absorb two thousand-year soul rings was just lucky. I still don't have a third one. Am I being too greedy?"
Rising from level 1 Soul Master to level 30 Great Soul Master in six years is considered poor talent? And having both the first and second soul rings as thousand-year soul rings is being too greedy?
"What have I been doing for the past six years? What about my two hundred-year spirit rings?"
Tang San felt a wave of frustration. He thought leveling up from 10 to 29 with the Xuantian Treasure Record was impressive, and he had absorbed two nearly maximum hundred-year spirit rings.
But compared to this guy in front of him, Tang San felt like he had wasted six years without making any real progress.
"Ye Chen, I really admire you. I remember when we awakened together, I was only at level 1 spirit power, and I never expected you to surpass me so quickly. You must have worked really hard!"
Patting Ye Chen on the shoulder, Tang San couldn't help but show a hint of disappointment, wishing he had focused more on his training.
"Pfft, hahahaha!"
Suddenly, Ning Rongrong, who had been chatting with Xiao Wu, burst into laughter, leaving both Xiao Wu and Tang San confused.
"Did my brother say something funny, Rongrong? Why are you laughing so much?"
In response to Xiao Wu's question, Ning Rongrong, still giggling, said, "Oh, don't get me wrong! I just couldn't help it when I heard Tang San say that Ye Chen trains really hard, hahahaha!"
"What do you mean? Is Ye Chen not working hard?"
"Working hard?" Ning Rongrong finally caught her breath and waved her hand. "No, no! You've got it all wrong. Ye Chen and 'hard work' don't really go together, let alone 'very hard.'"
Once she said that, Tang San and Xiao Wu looked even more puzzled, hoping Ning Rongrong would clarify.
Feeling a bit embarrassed under their curious gazes, Ning Rongrong struggled to find the right words to describe Ye Chen.
After a moment, she finally blurted out, "Ye Chen's spirit power is like some people gaining weight; he doesn't even need to eat—just drinking water is enough!"
This was a pretty straightforward way to put it; if drinking water could boost someone's power, it meant Ye Chen had incredible talent and his spirit power grew at lightning speed.
After hearing all this, Tang San finally understood and exclaimed, "So you're a once-in-a-lifetime genius!"
"Xiao San, you're overthinking it. Rongrong didn't mean that," Ye Chen said, shaking his head, wanting to explain, but Tang San just smiled and headed back to his room.
Ye Chen realized that natural talent alone wasn't enough; he didn't want to fall too far behind his brother, especially with a duel coming up.
Tang San knew that even with hidden weapons, he still had a good chance of losing, so if he wanted to win, he had to double down on his training.
After Xiao Wu and the others left, in the grand imperial suite, Ye Chen looked at the little demon girl beside him with a mix of amusement and exasperation.
"Rongrong, please don't say things like that in the future; it's too easy to misunderstand."
"What misunderstanding? You're already a prodigy!" Ning Rongrong said with a proud smile, pulling Ye Chen into a cozy blanket.
Note : Guys, some power stones will be really helpful.
