To Let Her Know Or Not?

Klaus Mikaelson took days to decide what to do. He decided not to tell her. He decided to use the fresh start he had gotten. He wanted to do this right.

After several days of drinking at the same table, on the same chair, ordering the same thing, at the same time, he decided to approach her.

"Hi…" Caroline Forbes was standing outside the bar, stuffing her apron in her backpack.

She turned around,

"Hi…" She smiled for a brief second.

"Can I interest you in a drink, Caroline?" He asked.

"Do I know you?" She asked, squinting. He looked familiar, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Ouch!" Klaus smiled, "I have been drinking everyday for the past twenty days, in your shift at the same time." He looked at her, "Ordering the same thing."

"Oh, right!" She nodded, "The British Guy..."

She looked at her watch.

"Would you like a drink, Caroline?" He repeated.

"I just missed my bus!" She looked at the watch again, "So, I guess…..Twenty minutes?"

She shrugged.

"Good enough for me" He opened the door for her. "After you."

"Thank you." She smiled. "I didn't catch your name, though…."

"Klaus…."

"It's not British, is it?" Caroline wondered.

"It's Niklaus, and Hebrew actually." He told her.

Klaus did most of the talking, Caroline looked distracted and distant. She didn't smile much. After exactly twenty minutes, she stood up.

"Nik….Klaus…" She was confused about what to call him. "I have to go…..I am sorry."

She hurried out,

"Can I see you again?" He asked.

"I...." She picked up her backpack. Only one minute to her bus, and the station was almost half a mile away. If she vamped, she would probably make it.

She didn't need the bus, she liked the ride.

"I really have to go!" She started to run. "My bus…"

"Don't go, Love!" He whispered.

She disappeared at the end of the street.

Caroline Forbes stood behind the bar, Klaus Mikaelson was already seated there. Caroline threw a smile in his direction, and she took orders from other customers. After twenty minutes, she came over to his table.

"Hi, I am Caroline!" She repeated everything she said with the customers. "What can I get you?"

"A date with you?" He asked.

"Anything on the menu, sir?" She said sternly.

"The usual. And anything you want if you will join me!"

"I can't!" She looked at him. "I am working, Nik….I mean Klaus!"

She went back to her work, Klaus Mikaelson watched her for a while. His eyes never left her, her eyes never glanced at him.

After a few minutes, he went outside. She was a little upset he was gone, and maybe a little glad. He was nice, she liked him, but she was not ready for a relationship.

She didn't see him again for a few days. He didn't come to the bar for ten days, the next time she saw him was at his apartment.

"Coming!" Caroline shouted, someone knocked on her door.

She still hadn't unpacked her stuff, even though it had been almost a month since she had been in New Orleans. She hadn't gotten herself to unpack yet. Klaus Mikaelson stood behind the door.

"Hi…." She opened the door. "Oh, Nik….Klaus….What are you doing here?"

She was surprised.

"I didn't see you for a while….And I brought you this!" He held a bottle.

"Thanks." She took it, smiling.

The whole apartment was filled with boxes. She hadn't unpacked yet. She was putting up photos.

Klaus looked at her.

"Who is this?" he asked, knowing very well who they were.

"This is my mother!" Caroline put a photo of Elizabeth Forbes in a suit.

"These are best friends." She put out a photo of Bonnie and Elena.

"And, this….who is this?" Klaus asked her.

"That is Stefan Salvatore." She had tears in her eyes. "The man I married. He died."

She turned away.

"I'm sor…" Klaus started to say.

"No…" She stopped him. "I am sorry, I think you should go, Nik….Klaus."

"Okay...It's okay!" Klaus kissed her cheek. "I'll see you at the bar."

Eyes down to cheeks. She made no attempt to hide them. Klaus walked out, Caroline held a photo of Stefan Salvatore, Damon, Bonnie and herself at her wedding.
