The Truth Hits Hard.

"What did you do?" She whispered. "Elijah…..I thought you were my friend."

"I am your friend." He said loudly. "I promise…."

"No…."

"Caroline?" Klaus looked at Caroline. "Love….listen to me."

"No…"

"Caroline!?" Kol looked at her. "Listen to him."

"No…" Caroline couldn't seem to say anything else.

"I can't do this!" Caroline sighed. "I have to get out of here!"

She ran.

"Caroline! No…." Klaus and Kol shouted.

"Listen to me, Care…!"

Caroline didn't listen to any of them. She didn't look at anyone. If she did, she would have seen the tears in Klaus Mikaelson's eyes. He couldn't believe that his love wasn't real.

She ran out. She ran out of the Mikaelson Compound as fast as she could.

And The Mikaelson Men Had Almost No Hope That She Would Ever Come Back.

Elijah Mikaelson stared at the door. As he watched the girl who was one of his best friends, who was running out of his brother's wedding. And it was all his fault.

Klaus Mikaelson was in a fit of rage, he slammed the two hundred year old vase on the ground, smashing it to pieces.

"Why?" He only had one question. "Why? Why would you do this, Elijah!?"

"I…"

"WHY?" He shouted.

"Listen to me, Nik!" Klaus tried to stop him.

Stefan Salvatore ran after her. But she disappeared somewhere.

Klaus Mikaelson saw the woman he loved walk out of his life. But he didn't chase after her. She was his one hope. She was the strong glass that prevented the monster from coming out.

She was the Beauty in the world, whom everyone could ignore but him. He lived to walk in the light that was Caroline.

He was the Beast in the eyes of the world, and only she could see the light in him. She could see the goodness in when no one could.

Klaus Mikaelson disappeared in the room. Elijah heard crashing as Klaus threw things on the floor looking for something.

Klaus Mikaelson had dug up a white oak stake from somewhere. Elijah had no idea where he had gotten it from.

Kol stood in the doorway.

"I am going to kill you, Elijah!"

If it was any other time, Elijah would have done something about it. But couldn't. This time it was his fault.

"Then, do it." He resigned.

"What?" No opposition, no anger, no resentment from Elijah.

"It's my fault! All of it! I could have asked her to come to New Orleans, begged her. Showed her you were a better man with her in your life." Elijah shook his head.

His eyes brimmed with tears,

"But, I chose the cowardly way. I used the powers she was vulnerable to."

"I…"

"You are right, Niklaus!" He stood in front of his brother on Klaus' arm. "Kill me!"

"What use it'll be!" Klaus held the stake in his hand. "She never loved me, she never will."
