Chapter Three: Meeting My Mother-in-law

The next morning,

Sean's were already numb from last night. Worse, he could not get enough sleep because kept on shivering and crying. Anna, on the other hand, slept like a baby last night. Though she cried and shivered, later on she got used to her snuggling pillow. Anna finally woke up, feeling energized after a satisfied rest decided to do few stretches before standing up.

'Wow! This bed is really soft and comfortable', Anna was amazed in thought not looking in Sean's direction.

"You sure had a lovely night", Sean said as he had his stern gaze at her. He wasn't able to sleep because of her now she was showing off that she had a good night rest. No way!

She could feel a cold gaze staring at her but she wasn't sure. Now looking at Sean made her realize that she was right. He had a very bulgy eye bag like he didn't get enough rest. Gasp! Was it because of me? Fuck! No wonder he had his 'I don't think so' glare. He cuddled me all night. First night with Sean was a total disaster. Anna bit her lips really hard as it oozed out blood.

"What are you thinking about?" Sean's cold voice brought her back to reality. She stared at him with a sincere but cute eyes, "I'm sorry about last night". Sean's heart softened when he heard her apologize. Where do this girl get all her charms from? Somehow, she always win over his heart. He decided to change the topic, "Today, you are not going to work".

"Why?" Anna became confused. It was unexpected of him.

"My mom had begged me to grant you a day off. She wants to see you in person", he explained. He had a not so good feeling about his mom visiting.

'His mom wants to see me in person? What if she doesn't like me? Or worse what would she think of me as a ex-single mother?' Anna couldn't stop thinking of Sean's mother first impression which made her really anxious. A pair of soft hands patted her on her shoulders saying, "Sincerely speaking, my mom is kinda picky but you will like her", He consoled her then planted a kiss on her forehead which at first startled Anna but felt the warmth on her forehead which made her little better.

Why was he acting so weird? Who knew marrying him could actually change him? Anna could just flicker her eyelashes. The room became awkwardly silent for a moment but Sean invaded. He stood up and went downstairs. Immediately, Anna called Melilla.

Melilla: Hey! Watsup!

Anna: I think Sean is going nuts!

Melilla: Wait a min! You just spilt out the gist without greetings, men!

Anna: Good morning! Are you satisfied!

Melilla: Precisely! (Sips her latte)Now get on with the gist.

Anna: I had a bad nightmare again!

Melilla: (almost chokes) What? Why? So what did Sean do?

Anna: He cuddled me all night.

Melilla: Awwwwn! That's so sweet of him.

Anna: That's not all

Melilla: Ohhh! There's more! Spill it!

Anna:This morning, I woke up, feeling all spiffy...

Melilla: (cuts in) Wait,did you just say spiffy?

Anna:Yh! Wats wrong with saying spiffy?

Melilla:Never mind. Continue

Anna: I noticed that the bed was wayyyy comfee. So, I did my morning stretches on the bed. Suddenly, I felt a cold gaze staring at me. He was giving me the 'I don't think so' look. I was taken aback. He looked all tired and his arms were numb from carrying me all night. I apologized but he changed the topic. He told that his mother wants to see me in person so he gave me a day off. How crazy is that?! I am meeting my Mother-in-law today.

Melilla: Did you say his mother wants to see you? I have read about Mother-in-law and they are not the nice kind of mothers.

Anna: I know, right? I was so nervous but he consoled me...

Melilla: (Interrupts) Awwwn! That's so nice.

Anna:Let me land the plane, please!

Melilla: Come on! The passenger can't wait any longer.

Anna: He kissed me on the forehead!

Melilla: (Squirts)Romance! Oh My God! This is called undercover romance! Girl, you have smarten up. Sean loves you but he is too arrogant to express you.

Anna: What do you keep on yammering about?

Melilla: Fact, Girl, Fact! The only reason he married you is because he doesn't want you to belong to anyone but him so he married you...

Anna:(Cuts in) What's that smell? (Her nose catches up with the tantalizing aroma) Smells divine.

Melilla: What do you mean?

Anna: I will call you back later. (Hangs up)

Immediately, she rushes downstairs. She targeted that smell to the kitchen. On getting there, she was shocked with the scene before her eyes. Sean was actually cooking. He wore black with pink polka dots apron. He looks more handsome when wearing an apron. Who knew he was multi talented. He was cooking a whole feast for breakfast. Anna could not react because she was hungry.

"Are you going to stand there looking all petty or are you going to have breakfast?" Sean cuts in as he flips the pancake.

Anna took her sit, her mouth was already watery, she didn't know where to start from. With no hesitation, she gobbled up her share of the food.

"Mommy!" Toby hugged her from behind. Anna almost choked on her bacon, Sean passed her a cup of water to drink.

"You look all dressed up. Is there any occasion I know not about?" Amazed Anna asked as she checked her son out.

"School!" Toby leaped for joy.

"What? School! What school?" Anna asked.

"I registered him at one of the prestige school in all J city", Sean answered.

"But he is just five years old and I'm sure he doesn't want to go to school, right?" She said as she faced Toby.

"Mommy, daddy told me that school is fun and I like fun!"

"Alright, but take care of yourself", Anna patted his head.

"Come on Toby. Time for school", Butler Jiang said as he escorted Toby to the car.

Sigh! Now that Toby is going to school, who was she going to play with when she is on her day off? Catching on with her moody expression, "If you really want to play, I can tell Jenna to take you shopping".

"No need. I am not really a fan of shopping. I will just visit my old residence for a while", Anna said as she continues eating.

Everyone was done eating, Sean was about to do the dishes but Anna stopped him. He had to go work, stressing him now won't be good. Anna was done washing the plates. Sean was already prepared for work. Anna rushed in to dress him up. She was acting like a proper housewife if I do say so myself. She tucked in his tie properly. Sean was lost in her affectionate eyes. Done knotting his tie, she caught him gazing at her but she couldn't see through him. They both stood there, looking at each other. Waiting for who would take the first move. Suddenly, Sean pecked her on her lips. Her heart thumped faster and faster nonstop.

"See after work", He said as he patted her shoulder then left. Anna, on the other hand was completely in a daze. Why was Sean acting like that? Was he in love with her? Could it be undercover romance as Melilla had said? It was all a mystery.
