She Became The Boss's Lady After Divorce

Tessa ran away from home to get married to the love of her life, David Winston. On David's birthday, and their three years marriage anniversary, Tessa caught David cheating on her with his childhood friend, Olivia George, a figure from a prestigious family.  She found out that the man she thought was her soulmate only married her because of his family inheritance, now that he had gotten it, she was no longer useful to him. It was time for she to go her own way, after three years of hardship and unfaithfulness.  Tessa picked the pen up and signed the divorce papers.  ‘These people, they have no idea who they are messing with’ David smirked.  “Tessa is from the countryside, I bet her family are local farmers... She can't do anything. Come to think of it, she never told me anything about her family. Perhaps they are beggars! In the countryside” Olivia George screamed.  “Tessa, you will pay for this, I will show you that I am from the George family!” Olivia's quivering tone was heard.  “David... I... I... thought you said she is from the countryside, her family are beggars! right? cos what in the devil's name is going on” Tessa's cheeks raised slowly.  “I forgot to introduce myself. I am Tessa Wood. From the number one mafia family in the country” “Tessa, you would be crowned the next heir to the Wood family, but you have to marry somebody from the military, that is your grandfather's last request”

CHAPTER 1

Tessa carefully opened the door to her husband's office, intending on surprising him for his birthday, but she immediately regretted it a second later.

Her husband, David Winston, was kissing his childhood friend Olivia so passionately, as though he wanted to devour her where he stood.

The cake she was holding in her hands fell to the floor with a loud splat. To think David could be so cruel to her, to do this on their third wedding anniversary!

She thought her husband and Olivia were just friends, old time friends. That was what David said when he introduced her to Olivia, back when they had just gotten married.

Olivia came from one of the top five families in the city. When she came back after spending three years abroad, she immediately awarded David a mega contract, boosting his career. Tessa still remembered how grateful she felt that Olivia was willing to help her old friend.

However, she could only scold herself for her own foolishness now. How could she not realize that ever since then, David had been spending so many late nights at the office?

It turns out that he wasn't busy with work after all.

Their pleasure was so intense that they didn't even notice her presence, nor the destroyed cake. Tessa's heart pounded heavily when her eyes saw how the lustful way David was kissing Olivia.

David had never kissed her like this before. He barely hugged her. Sex was even more out of the question. They had never slept on the same bed before.

David's family, the Winstons, had always thought that she married David for his money. Because of that, they forced David to offer her a marriage contract that would leave her with nothing if she divorced him.

Back then, she blindly accepted it because she knew that she loved David not because of his money.

The contract duration was three years, and ever since then, she had gone through thick and thin for David's sake, for love's sake.

The contract would be expiring a few days from now, meaning she had passed the test and proved to everyone that she didn't marry David because of his money, but here David was, kissing another woman wholeheartedly.

Tessa couldn't stop herself from letting out a hurt cry.

The sound alerted David and Olivia, only then did they notice Tessa who was standing by the door, shellshocked at the sight.

David's face reddened in shock. He quickly let go of Olivia and buttoned his white shirt, his face darkening at Tessa's presence. His time with Olivia was so precious, and he didn't want anyone to interrupt them.

Especially not his wife!

He told the front desk ladies not to allow anybody inside, but those imbeciles would always be a bunch of idiots and fools. How could they not inform him that Tessa was here?

"How did you get here? When did you get in?" David demanded angrily.

Tessa was still motionless on her spot, but she managed to voice out.

"I'm here… for you. David, what are you doing?"

Her heart was still pounding heavily, she was trying to understand the situation but she couldn't. The scene from before kept flashing in her head, and she just couldn't keep calm anymore.

Tessa's eyes filled with tears.

How could David do such a thing to her? Did he forget that he was married? Did he forget that he had a wife? Why would he do this?

David wanted to say something when Olivia jumped in.

"Did you forget how to knock? Is that how you were trained? You just barrel into somebody's office and start questioning anybody you see."

Olivia glared haughtily at Tessa for interrupting them, causing David to stop kissing her. She couldn't believe David's wife was so mannerless that she didn't know she had to knock before entering someone's office.

Tessa was shocked to the bone when she heard Olivia's words. That wasn't the response she was expecting to get, given what she had just witnessed with her own two eyes!

"Knocking isn't the problem here!" Tessa cried out, upset. "David, what's the meaning of this?"

She hoped David had a proper explanation and an apology ready, but David's audacious reply stunned her.

"Why are you here Tessa? Didn't I tell you I was busy?"

David glared at Tessa.

Tessa couldn't comprehend what was going on. She saw her husband cheating on her, but now it felt like she was the one overreacting. It was as though she interrupted an ordinary business meeting and not an affair.

For God's sake, David should be on his knees begging for forgiveness, while this bitch should be quivering in fear!

Tessa had enough. Her sadness was turning into anger, and she roared.

"I came here to celebrate your birthday, and our third wedding anniversary! You said you were too busy, so you didn't come home last night, so I made the effort to bring the celebration to you… only to see... to see this! How could you cheat on me with this woman!"

Tessa glared at Olivia before facing David again.

"David Winston, did you forget that I'm your wife! You owe me an explanation!"

David was shocked to hear Tessa raising her voice in anger. In all three years of marriage, she had never sounded this way. Perhaps this was her true self all this while, like what Olivia said. Tessa was a loud screaming rude woman!

Meanwhile, Olivia stared disdainfully at Tessa, before addressing David.

"Settle this quickly, I will be waiting in the guest room."

Before David could even respond, Olivia walked away, ready to leave the room. However, Tessa gripped her right hand and tugged her back harshly.

"And where do you think you are going, you vixen?"
