Oath

Dear brothers and sisters, this shall be the first and final letter symbolizing my official departure. It will serve as a warning for whoever trespasses (accidentally or not) into our homeworld.

Our universe is dead, and so is our planet.

Not dead in the literal sense, but corrupted.

In the beginning, we, the Etherians, lived peacefully in our homeworld, ETHER.

For centuries we crafted and developed technology to immeasurable levels. So much that we started to see our planet as small, and ourselves as insignificant in the grand scheme of things, for in outer space lay structures and creatures of magnificent nature that until then were beyond our knowledge.

In due time, we expanded beyond our planet, then our solar system, then other solar systems, then our galaxy, then other galaxies. We had claimed the universe as ours. We reigned supreme...but not for long.

On a certain day, we detected the presence of a transdimensional space warp happening at the edge of our universe. From there, the end came.

The Hex, an extraordinarily-advanced species that weaponized physics, space-time, and information. They invaded our space, and with them, a Dark Wave followed.

Their tech far outclassed ours, and the Dark Wave was unstoppable and impossible to be interacted with.

Their species, causeless in nature, defied the very logic of the reality they stood on, as did their Dark Wave. Our military power proved ineffective against them, and we were thus dominated on the battlefield. Those who did not die in the crossfire across outer space were instead bound to be tainted by the Dark Wave within their homeworlds.

The dark wave corrupted every sector of the universe, galaxies and planets turned dark, with every species that there lived infected and left in a state of stasis for all eternity.

I, Venus Hekatonreis, am the only one who managed to escape, but I'm afraid my mind has not yet. The sound of our people being massacred is still reverberating vividly in my head, while I stand lonely in a spaceship within the vastness of space of another universe other than my own.

But I'll make them pay. This is my testament and my oath. I vow it thus.
