Chapter 29: The Infinity Pool

Since discovering the Mind Library, Alex and Kai had been working hard to learn how to use this powerful resource. However, Silver Moon Apartments always seemed to find new ways to surprise them.

On this day, Alex received an urgent call from the 42nd floor. The 42nd floor was one of the most mysterious levels of Silver Moon Apartments, rumored to have an infinity pool with a view of the entire city.

"We need to hurry," Kai said as they rushed towards the elevator, "It sounds like the situation is critical."

When the elevator doors opened, they were immediately shocked by the sight before them. The entire 42nd floor had been transformed into a massive open-air pool, its surface as calm as a mirror, reflecting the sky above. But most unsettling was how the pool's edge seemed to merge directly with the skyline, as if one misstep could send you plummeting into the city's abyss.

"Be careful! Don't get too close to the edge!" a voice called out urgently.

Alex and Kai turned to see Florea, the resident from the plant planet. She looked very anxious, her vine-like arms waving uneasily.

"What happened, Florea?" Alex asked.

Florea pointed towards the center of the pool, "It's Lumen! He jumped in for a swim, but he hasn't surfaced for half an hour!"

Kai frowned, "But Lumen is an energy being, he doesn't need to breathe."

"No, you don't understand," Florea said urgently, "This pool... it's not ordinary water. It can absorb energy, even light!"

Alex and Kai exchanged surprised looks. They carefully approached the pool's edge and looked down into the water. Beneath the surface, they could faintly see a weak point of light - that must be Lumen.

"We have to save him," Alex said firmly.

Kai nodded, "But we need to be careful not to get sucked in ourselves."

Just then, the pool's surface suddenly rippled. A whirlpool began to form, gradually expanding.

"This is bad," Kai said softly, "It seems the pool has sensed our presence. It wants to pull us in too!"

Alex concentrated, trying to control the water flow with his abilities. But to his surprise, his powers seemed to have no effect on this pool.

"This isn't ordinary water," Alex said in surprise, "It seems to have its own consciousness!"

The whirlpool grew larger, starting to spread towards the shore. Florea stepped back in horror, but one of her vines accidentally touched the water surface. In an instant, that vine was sucked in.

"Ah!" Florea screamed, trying to break free, but the water's force was too strong.

Alex immediately grabbed Florea, pulling back with all his might. Kai also came forward to help, but all three of them were slowly being dragged towards the water.

In this critical moment, Alex suddenly remembered a spell he had learned in the Mind Library.

"Kai," he shouted, "We need to recite the spell together! The one about 'binding chaos waters' from the Mind Library, remember?"

Kai's eyes lit up, "Right! Quick, let's recite it!"

They began to chant the ancient spell in unison, their voices echoing through the empty 42nd floor. As the spell progressed, the pool's surface began to churn violently, as if struggling against some invisible force.

Suddenly, a bright beam of light shot out from the water. It was Lumen! He burst out of the surface like a shooting star, landing on the shore.

But the crisis wasn't over. The pool's water was still spinning madly, trying to break free from the spell's constraints.

"We need to seal it," Kai said, panting, "Otherwise it will continue to threaten everyone."

Alex nodded, "But how? Our powers seem useless against it."

Just then, Leo's apparition suddenly appeared. "Use your mind power," he said urgently, "This pool is made of pure chaos energy. Only an equally pure force can subdue it."

Alex and Kai exchanged a glance, immediately understanding what to do. They grasped each other's hands tightly, closed their eyes, and concentrated all their mental energy.

They recalled every moment in Silver Moon Apartments, remembered each other's smiles, thought of every adventure they had shared. These memories and emotions coalesced into a powerful energy, bursting forth from them.

A golden light enveloped the entire pool, and the water surface began to calm. Slowly, the pool's edges started to materialize, no longer merging with the skyline. Finally, a transparent barrier covered the water surface, completely sealing the chaos energy.

When everything settled, Alex and Kai collapsed on the ground, exhausted. Florea and the newly conscious Lumen ran over to check on them.

"Are you alright?" Florea asked worriedly.

Alex managed a smile, "We're fine, just a bit tired. Lumen, are you okay?"

Lumen's light was dimmer than usual, but still full of vitality. "Thank you for saving me," he said, his voice full of gratitude, "That pool... it nearly drained all my energy."

Leo's apparition floated to their side, a satisfied smile on his face. "You did well," he said, "This infinity pool is one of the most dangerous facilities in Silver Moon Apartments. It was originally used to purify and balance energy, but over time, it became increasingly unstable."

Kai frowned, "Why did this happen?"

Leo sighed, "It's related to the invasion of the Void forces. They're disrupting the energy balance of Silver Moon Apartments. But now, thanks to you, this pool has been resealed."

Alex looked at the calm water surface, feeling a wave of fear in retrospect. "Can we still use this pool in the future?" he asked.

Leo nodded, "Yes, but be very careful. This pool has now become an important energy node for Silver Moon Apartments. Used correctly, it can help you fight against the Void forces."

As they left the 42nd floor, Alex felt the entire Silver Moon Apartments trembling slightly, as if cheering for their victory. He knew they had taken another step forward, getting closer to understanding the true nature of Silver Moon Apartments.
