Volume 1 Chapter 10; The white rooms beyond the door.

[Cade's pov]

I reached for the door in front of me, turning the knob and slowly revealing the unknown far beyond me. My eyes widened when I saw it. A bright white room, stretched out as far as the eye could see. Numbered doors running along the sides, with people's names written on them, some nameless.

Slowly I walked down the hall, my eyes panning from door to door as I went along, an eerie feeling clawing up my back as I went. My feet echoing against the silent room, beating at it with a bat for each sound I made but it was never broken.

The hallway felt like it went on for hours, before I finally reached the end of it all, a single door standing in my path, blending in with the white hall.

"Hey who's there!?" I heard a voice behind me. My heart leapt as I began to break out into a sweat as I pulled the handle instinctively, running away from whoever is calling out to me.

I heard hurried footsteps behind me getting ever so closer as I dashed through the door, my eyes scanning the area around me as I ran, my foot echoing against the platform stage, looking down in the middle where headsets and controllers were set up in a massive room.

My hand reached up to my glasses, taking a picture of what I'm seeing, the room a clashing black and green.

"Hey stop!" their voices got louder, but I refused to turn back, if they saw my face, it was all over.

Continuing to run I stumble across a door on the other side of the platform, quickly going through it the white hall surrounds me once more yet this one doesn't have any doors, except for one on the other side.

I reached out towards it, my hand wrapping around the handle and pushing it with all my might. Stepping into the room, my eyes widen when I see it.

A woman tied to a machine, her slim luscious body tied down and censored by wires and tubes. She was beautiful, my mouth was slightly agape from the sight. Her flowing white hair, her long lashes, and fair skin. Her soft lips, it was all so captivating.

I slowly raised my hand, my mind completely fogged from the danger that's approaching, soon snapping back to reality when I heard the door click behind me.

"There you ar-" The man with brown hair broke in, with two guards by his side. But they didn't see me, as I hid behind the woman in the room. There I stood for a while frozen behind her in fear, my body in an uncomfortable position just to stay out of sight.

"Search the room!" He shouted, his phone ringing in his pockets.

"Hello?" He asked as the guards began to search.

"What!? What do you mean captured!" He went back and forth with the person on the phone, his call felt like hours as I stood there, waiting for him to leave.

"I'll be right there," He muttered, turning the phone off and looking at the other guards.

"Hey forget about the guy, we got to go," He sighed, leaving through the door.

The two guards looked at each other both confused as to what could've been so important to change his mind so quickly. Soon following him to leave the room.

I let out a sigh of relief as I finally got out of that tight spot, my eyes scanning the room for any further danger before I walked towards the door, but then I stopped, I had to look at her one last time before I go.

The feeling I had when looking at her, I couldn't just shake it off, but I can't just shake the feeling off. My grip tightened around the handle as I reluctantly left, my eyes closed trying to knock her out of my mind, closing the door behind me.

"Huh!? What do you mean they're captured!?" I shouted, my hands hitting against the table in frustration, my eyebrows furrowing in both rage and concern.

"We tried to call them, but they didn't answer- we could only assume." Kai muttered.

"I thought you said they got this!" I gritted my teeth as I stared at Kai, his head down to the ground in shame, not knowing what to say, Chloe was also silent, her arms crossed and her gaze to the floor.

"It's fine," He muttered, his head raised to look at me.

"We'll just have to save them." His words sparked a trigger within me, burying both my arms in my jacket pockets.

"Nah. Fuck that," I spat, the words dripping with venom, my gaze piercing through him, eyes narrowing into slits.

"Huh?!" Kai shot up from the ground, the chair he sat on pushed back forcefully. Chloe's eyes furrowed as she watched the confrontation unfold.

"We can't save them; we only have a week. We need more time." I sighed, my gaze shifting from him to the ground, but my anger simmered just beneath the surface. His hand clenched my jacket, pulling me closer, his grip tightening like a vise, the tension palpable.

"So you're saying we should just leave them there!?" Kai's voice rose, a mix of disbelief and fury.

"They're just kids!" He shouted.

"And what are you going to do when you get there?!" I snapped back, my own frustration boiling over, meeting his rage head-on. His lips pressed together in a silent cry, he knew I had a point but he didn't want to admit it, he didn't want to accept that there was nothing that he could do for them.

"Answer me, dumbass!" I grabbed his jacket, my rage getting the better of me as I gazed into his eyes.

"You have You, me, and Chloe, no equipment, cybernetics that stand no chance against military grades, and not a fucking gram to our name! What the fuck are you going to do!?"

His grip loosened on me, his hands falling to his side, as he looked to the ground once more, his hands hanging in that of defeat.

"I know it may seem hopeless, but I can't leave them there." He muttered. My eyes widened at his words of defeat, yet he still pressed on with this pointless argument.

"You really haven't changed a bit, Cade," He continued, his hand slowly reaching up to grab mine.

"Go, we're done here, you're welcome to take what you need, but never come back."

I grit my teeth in anger, pushing him back and looking at Chloe, she bit her lower lip and kept to herself her eyes far off from our confrontation as she didn't have the heart to witness it.

"Whatever fuck this! Keep your damned Cybernetics," I muttered, shoving both of my arms into my jacket pockets as I started to walk away. My footsteps echoed against the deafening silence as I made my leave.

"Fucking useless-"
