Distort

The yell of the school bell felt like being freed after decades of confinement. The kids were rushing out from their rooms, racing to the cafeteria as if there is an apocalypse.

Kao was left alone. He was so hungry but he was too tired to walk to grab some food. His brain and energy were all totally drained after two hours of exam.

He leaned back and rested his head, facing up the ceiling. Entrusting his whole body on to the chair. He closed his eyes, welcoming the darkness to wrap up his world. Kao tried to shutdown all his working senses. He tried not to move even a muscle. Trying to avoid releasing a little of his energy. Only sensing his surroundings with his ears. It's like living in a black chaotic dimension, hearing the tranquility of the other dimension.

The boring howl of a half-decade old air conditioning machine breaks the loud yowl of silence. Feeling the cool air sticking to his skin. He breathe. Somehow he felt the pleasure of being alone in that dull room. Kao breathe again. He did not think of any particular thing at the moment.

You...

A sudden attack coldness struck his insides. Feeling cold and nausea and nervous all at the same time. His eyes twitched, still closed. An image appeared in front of him. An unsure image of someone. Perhaps something. He was trying to remember what happened earlier. Kao opened his eyes, for once, the wide ceiling over him calmed him. He leaned forward.

What the hell was that?

Kao leaned back to the chair, arms rested above his forehead. He was bothered. He remembered someone, or maybe something, there were no other memories left.

Why is this? I'm sure we were chatting for a long time. Why can't I remember even a slightest of it?

A loud bang came from the door. His friends stood there, holding a bag of snacks. Kao turned to them. They all stared at him at utter confusion. Kao is also puzzled.

"What?" asked Kao.
