The Main Story Begins

Tyrel rested In bed, wearing pajamas, as an alarm sounded.

'I'll just relax for this last month. I'll be civil to the main cast, but I won't try to befriend them. I don't trust them. I feel safe with Saphira only.'

Tyrel thought before closing his eyes. He hugged his pillow and relaxed for an hour. He smiled, curled up, and went limp.

'I'm glad everything I learned needs no practice due to the Memory. I can focus on leisure and perhaps leave the academy for a while. Or I can eat, sleep, and relax.'

Tyrel smiled and got up from his bed. He prepared for the day before he felt something in his mind. A whisper, and it said his name.

"Tyrel... Tyrel... Come into your soul sea..."

Tyrel's eyes widened as he lay back in bed and entered his soul sea. Inside, he looked at the white sky and the black depths. The Necrotic Core shone above it.

He looked to the left and saw a beautiful three-story-tall silver fox. It had a white stripe coming down its back and onto its head. Seven tails wagged behind it, each as long as its massive body. Its glowing crimson pupils stared at him. Four serrated and long sword-like claws were on each foot.

Its mouth moved, and it spoke.

"Tyrel. It's so good to see you again. How have you been?"

Tyrel's eyes widened as he yelled and smiled. "Saphira! I missed you!"

Saphira chuckled, and she changed into her humanoid form. She was twice as tall as Tyrel. Her skin was pearly white, and her frame was voluptuous and buxom. Silver hair cascaded down her back. Her fox ears twitched, and her seven tails wagged. She wore a black kimono with white symbols covering it. She smiled as her glowing crimson eyes stared into his. She knelt and opened her arms.

"Come into my arms, Tyrel."

Tyrel walked to her and hugged her.

Saphira sighed as she picked up Tyrel and hugged him against her chest. A tear fell from her eye as she spoke.

"I hope you were safe while I was gone. I'll protect you now. You're safe with me."

Saphira's tails moved underneath her, becoming a makeshift bed. She lay back onto them and placed Tyrel on her chest. Her tails wrapped around them both like a cocoon.

"Heh. Tyrel. I want to come out now. I want to protect you in the real world."

Tyrel shook his head.

"Not yet. I wouldn't be able to explain how you're here. There are saints here who could harm us easily. Um... Do you still have the amount of essence in your past life?"

Saphira shook her head.

"I do not. I have the normal amount of essence. However, now that I'm a Titan. I can obtain essence even faster."

Tyrel smiled and spoke.

"I wonder what your Tyrant and Terror abilities are."

Saphira smiled.

"Go ahead and look at my runes."

Tyrel nodded and summoned the runes.

Necrotic Gaurdian: [Nebulous Fox].

Necrotic Guardian Type: Titan

Necrotic Gaurdian Core: Dormant.

Necrotic Guardian Attributes: [Nihlic Absorbtion], [Stagnant Essence Regeneration], [Mark of Divinity], [Necrotic Frame], [Necrotic Healing], [Devious Tenacity], [Flesh Rending Field].

Necrotic Guardian Abilities: [Shape-shifter], [Battle Armament], [Telekinesis], [Dual Parasite], [Mind Prison Pulse].

Tyrel's eyes widened, and he looked at the two new abilities.

[Dual Parasite] Enchantment Description:

"The Nebulous Fox can control parasites to enter the minds and souls of opponents. Each one will slowly siphon away their mental capacity and soul essence. The stolen soul essence and mental capacity will be added to the Nebulous Fox's permanently. These will not kill the creatures they infect and stay until found and destroyed."

[Mind Prison Pulse] Enchantment Description:

"The Nebulous Fox sends out a pulse of mental energy in all directions every ten seconds. Creatures that are the Nebulous Fox's rank will be trapped in their minds for two seconds. Ones a rank above will be trapped for one second, and opponents two ranks above will only be stunned for a quarter of a second. It is invisible and goes in all directions."

His grin grew more prominent.

"Saphira! You're so powerful!"

Saphira smirked and ruffled Tyrel's hair with her left hand.

"Of course I am. Now, when can I come out?"

Tyrel closed his eyes and thought.

'Perhaps she can come out in my room when I'm not inside. And if Sunny finds out about her with his shadow, I'll just pretend he's crazy. Everyone in the story will think he's crazy. No one would believe him. However, he still would know about her existence.'

Tyrel opened his eyes and said.

"You can stay in my room. However, you might want to lower your height to six feet, five inches. The room is too short."

Saphira chuckled.

"Okay. I'll shorten my height. Is there anything else?"

Tyrel thought for a moment and added.

"Yes. If anyone knocks on the door, don't answer unless you hear my voice. I don't want anyone to know you're here. It's dangerous for both of us if they find out."

Saphira's eyes narrowed.

"If the place is so dangerous. Why don't we escape?"

Tyrel shook his head.

"It's actually safer if we stay here. People can't know of your existence, though."

Saphira sighed and nodded.

"Okay."

Tyrel smiled.

"Let's meet in the real world."

Tyrel left his soul sea, and his eyelids opened.

He sat up in bed as Saphira materialized from sparks. She was now seven feet tall, and she smiled, walked to him, and sat beside him. She picked him up and placed him on her lap.

"How are you, Tyrel?"

Tyrel hugged Saphira and rested his head on her chest.

"I feel happy now that you're here. I missed you so much."

Saphira chuckled and wrapped her arms around him. She gently massaged his scalp with her left hand and rubbed his back with her right. Her tails also wrapped around Tyrel.

"I'm glad. I'm happy to see you too. Would you like just to lay here as I hold you?"

Tyrel sighed.

"I would like to, but I need to eat. Breakfast is going to be served soon."

Saphira gently kissed Tyrel's forehead.

"Alright, pup. I would personally like something to eat too. Could you grab some for me?"

Tyrel nodded.

"Yes, I can get some for you too. Do you want meat, vegetables, fruits?"

"I do want meat, pup."

Tyrel clung to Saphira and said.

"I'll get meat for you."

Saphira's eyes narrowed.

"In the Dream Realm, I'll make sure to be the one taking care of you. You're my pup."

Tyrel chuckled.

"Okay, Saphira. Um, can you let me go? I need to leave and head to the cafeteria."

Saphira obliged, and her grin widened.

"Of course. Have fun."

Tyrel nodded and left the room after putting his uniform on. He walked through the corridors and thought.

'I should eat my food and leave. Do not get involved with the main cast unless I have no choice.'

Tyrel entered the cafeteria and waited in line. His eyes wandered, and he spotted Caster and his group. His gaze continued and stopped on a lone table.

There sat two familiar people. Sunny and Cassia.

'Well, there they are. I'll stay away from them. I don't feel safe around them or anyone but Saphira. Plus, Sunny's fated attribute would put him in so much trouble. I wouldn't survive long.'

Tyrel focused on the line before him and grabbed three plates of sushi and chicken. Just before he could leave, someone tapped on his shoulder. He turned around and saw a very tall girl. She had long crimson hair and grey eyes. She looked to be a few years older than he was. She peered down at him and smiled.

"Hello there."

Tyrel replied.

"Hi there."

The tall girl smiled and offered. "Would you like to eat with me? I want to talk with you."

Tyrel shook his head.

"I'm sorry, but I usually eat in my room. I don't see a point in hanging out, to be honest."

The tall girl sighed and spoke.

"Could you please reconsider? There are some important things I want to speak to you about."

"I'm sorry, but I'm a loner. I apologize if this causes you any issues."

The tall girl sighed.

"Could you talk to me, please?"

Tyrel shook his head and left with food in hand.

The tall girl gritted her teeth and followed Tyrel. She spoke out.

"It's about surviving in the Dream Realm... I don't know how you are, but I know you're powerful in some way. I propose an alliance. We could help each other in the Dream Realm."

Tyrel paused for a moment and muttered.

"No... An alliance is putting our lives in each other's hands. I don't trust you."

The tall girl introduced herself.

"I'm Bellatrix. What's your name?"

Tyrel sighed and answered.

"I'm Tyrel. And I'll give you some advice. I'm not the one you're looking for. I'm a loner. I don't know when any other sleeper In this academy will snap when we're in the Dream Realm. If you're really looking for allies, please go ask Changing Star or Caster. They may be more willing than I. It's not personal, it's simply me."

Bellatrix stood still for five seconds before replying.

"Tyrel. Why are you so scared? You even fear humanity. Why?"

"Because I can get backstabbed at any moment. I plan to escape into the Dream Realm and never return to Earth. Perhaps I'll enter an unexplored region and live the remainder of my life there."

Bellatrix's eyes widened.

"You want to live in the Dream Realm?"

Tyrel nodded.

"Yes. I see no point in returning. I have no attachments to this world. At least in the Dream Realm, I'll be able to dig in the ground and build a home. Or I could travel and explore the cursed regions."

Bellatrix sighed.

"Tyrel. I hope you change your mind. The Earth needs as many Awakened as it can get. Don't you care about protecting the Earth?"

Tyrel chuckled.

"No, I don't. Did anyone help me when I was in the outskirts? No... The government abandoned them and only paid attention to me when I beat my nightmare. I'm going to abandon my life on Earth. Why would I care about a world like this?"

Bellatrix gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.

"D-Dont abandon the Earth... What would your parents think?"

Tyrel sighed.

"I don't care. This is my life. I want to live in the Dream Realm. Please stop trying to persuade me. I'm not going to budge."

A smile grew on Bellatrix's face.

"I won't give up on trying to change your mind."

Tyrel walked away to his room.

***

Inside the room, Tyrel placed two plates before Saphira.

"Saphira, those plates of sushi are yours. I'll only eat from one that has vegetables on it."

Saphira smiled and ate one.

"Alright. What are your next plans?"

Tyrel sighed.

"I plan to live in the Dream Realm. I see no point in staying on Earth. Perhaps we can challenge the second nightmare later."

Saphira sighed, too.

"Are you trying to do this because you fear other humans?"

Tyrel nodded.

"Yes. And I just don't have an attachment to this world. Leaving it behind for the dream realm sounds like the best choice."

Saphira shook her head.

"You're paranoid, Tyrel. You think everything that's not me is out to get you. I doubt they care that much. I mean, I could have been a threat to two huge kingdoms. And instead of trying to destroy me, they wanted my help. That probably will be what happens with you."

Tyrel grimaced.

"I will not serve the government or clans. I'd rather live in the Dream Realm. I see no benefit to staying in the real world. Only too many risks."

Saphira shook her head and smiled.

"I'll support you on whatever decision you make. And I'll take care of you in the Dream Realm if you choose that place. I'll keep you safe."

Tyrel smiled.

"Thank you, Saphira..."

Saphira chuckled and finished eating her food.

"You're welcome, Tyrel.

Tyrel finished his food, and the duo spent the rest of the day in the room.
