Shadow Slave: Bloodborne

Just for clarification. This story starts a little bit before the gate opened near Rain's school and Sunny fought it as Mongrel

It was just a normal day where a young boy sat in class. His hair was raven black and his eyes crimson red, being fixated on the board his teacher was writing down some stuff .

He sighed and looked out of the window, which was to his left.

'If just something interesting could happen for once', thought Ragna

Suddenly his teacher called him up, asking him to solve the question because he wasn't listening. Ragna stood up hastily and looked over to the board, not knowing how to answer the question. But before he could say anything, he and the rest of the class, suddenly heard a loud beeping sound as they got a notification on their communicators.

EMERGENCY ALERT

EMERGENCY ALERT

GATE ACTIVITY DETECTED IN YOUR PROXIMITY

ETA: 201 SECONDS

EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY!

For a few seconds everyone just froze but then most of his classmates started screaming and running around the room.

The teacher and class rep tried calming the class down but to not much avail. Just a few seconds later the voice of the principal rang through the speaker, which were in every classroom.

ATTENTION

The Teacher wanted to make us go calmly and in pairs of two but most of the kids just sprinted out, trying to reach the most safe place right now, the Gymnasium.

There were just a handful of the class which went calmly to the gymnasium, Ragna included.

The gate already opened a few minutes ago and everyone from the school was in the gymnasium, the kids squished together while the teachers stood at the outer part with weapons, being ready to protect the kids, even if they couldn't tho much against a nightmare creature as non awakened.

Ragna also stood at the outer side of the circle since the older ones stood outside and the younger ones inside.

A little bit to his left stood a young girl, maybe a year younger than him. She had long black hair and pale skin but he didn't care much about her since Nightmare creatures were approaching.

Everyone heard the automatic defence turrets go online and just a few moments later a deafening crash and tremble rumbled through the building as a wolf-like creature with black skin and red spikes was seen comming inside. Everyone trembled and screamed as the kids were being pushed back against the wall.

Ragna gulped and shuddered as he saw the infernal like creature. This was the first time he saw one, a nightmare beast and they were even worse than he imagined. Just with one single glance he knew that his teachers could defenitely not protect them against that thing.

"S-shit", he cursed.

The teachers aimed their bows and swords against the beast but just a second later they were thrown away, wounded. And now, nothing stood between the beast and the kids.

The beast lunged at the girl with long black hair and pale skin, who was just a few meters away from Ragna, jaw wide open with sharp fangs inside. Time was like it went in slowmotion as Ragna saw the jaw being closed around the little girls neck while she held her sword, trembling.

He knew that she couldn't do much but just still having her sword in her hands earned his respect. But just before the creatures jaw snapped shut a stone like sword flashed out of the shadows and sliced throug the creatures neck. Infront of the girl and just 2 meters away from Ragna stood a tall and beautiful woman with onyx like armor and 2 ruby flame eyes in her visors. She looked menacing but also confident and relaxed.

The minutes progressed as the tall figure continued protecting them. Most of the kids were scared, screaming and crying but Ragna and the pale girl left to him, just watched the in onyx cladded armored woman fight with wide eyes. Ragna has never seen something so beatiful and strong at the same time. As he got a better look tho he realised that the figure resembled that Mongrel guy that has been gaining popularity on the internet lately.

"So Mongrel is a woman, huh ?", mumbled Ragna quietly.

The pale girls instantly turned to him as she heard what he said.

"Don't compare that ugly creature to someone strong and selfless like her ! She is a real awakened while Mongrel is just some lucky guy !", she rebunked

Ragna just looked at her with a weird expression

"And who are you to say that, little girl?", asked Ragna while the girl's cheeks got slightly red from anger and as her voice got louder

"I'm not a little girl and my name is Rain ! And are you dumb or why cant you see the differences ? She literally got boobs !"

Suddenly another loud crash could be heard as the figure dashed toward an ape like creature and impaled it with her stonelike sword.

The 2 kids just continued arguing, seemingly oblivious to the dangers around them since they had full trust in the tall figure.

After a while the gate got cleared and the kids got sent home. Right now Ragna arrived at his house and opened the front door since his parents weren't home, like most of the time. He got out of his shoes and jacket before going up to his room and sitting down on his bed as he started thinking about what happened today.

First he started thinking about the tall figure in onyx armor, who was very similar to mongrel. She was tall, strong, fearless, selfless and a hero.

'I wanna be like her. I want to save people too. To be someone they can look up to'.

Then he started thinking about that girl, Rain

They argued about if the tall figure was Mongrel or not. While Ragna thought she was, Rain wasn't that convinced.

'What an annoying girl. Calling mongrel a loser even after what he did. And the worst part is that she was right. The tall figure wasn't Mongrel because we later found out that he was outside, fighting the gate !'

A few months passed and everyone already forgot about the gate incident. Motivated by the sight of the in black armored figure Ragna started learning everything he could about the nightmare spell in books and forums. He also spend most of his free time training with a wooden sword.

Ragna never really had friends but lately he has been spending most of his school time with Rain. They often argued about different stuff but in the end their relationship bloomed into a friendship. Rain also once told him that she had a master, which made Ragna double down on his training to not fall behind.

The schoolbell rang, indicating that the students had a 30 minute break. Ragna stood up from his seat and walked outside, where he met up with Rain on a bank. They both just held a conversation about the nightmare spell and Awakened in general, like they did most of the time but just when the break ended Rain suddenly gave Ragna a quick peck on his cheeks and smiled gently.

"Happy 16th Birthday, Ragna.", said Rain before quickly running off.

Ragna just stood there, frozen and flustered. He felt happy and warm but for some reason he also shivered because, for some reason it felt like the shadows themselves were glaring at him.

After calming down he proceeded to walk back to his class.

'Already 16, huh ? I should get affected by the spell pretty soon, atleast i hope i do because my training would've been to waste if i didn't.'

A few weeks later it indeed happened. He was home right now, alone, since his parents were working overseas. Ragna felt very sleepy and his eyelids were trying to shut down too. He yawned a few times.

'Uhhh, im so dizzy. I need to surrender myself quickly before i fall asleep.

But he first needed to do something else. He pulled out his communicator and messaged his only contact, which weren't his parents, Rain.

"Hey Rain, i think I got affected."

-just a few seconds later Rain read the message and answered back

"REALLY ? Oh god, Ragna. P-please survive. I don't want you to die. You'll survive, right ?"

"Of course I will. You won't get rid of me that fast."

After sending the message Ragna put the phone down.

'Fuck, I don't think i will make it to the police station to surrender myself as a nightmare spell carrier.'

-he yawned, feeling more sleepy every second. Ragna proceeded to slowly lay onto the ground.

'I'll just take a nice, quick nap here, just a nap'

And so Ragna fell asleep as everything became black. And in the next second he found himself in a forest, riding a horse, surrounded by many soldiers as red light shone down onto them. And next  he heard a quiet voice ring into his ear.

I would have wished to write more for the first chapter and in a better quality but writing is harder than i expected it to be. I'll try to go for more words in the next chapters.

If someone is reading this I'd love to get feedback since i want to become better at writing. And what do y'all think about the introduction of Ragna ? I really want to make him rivals with Rain later on. But this will probably not happen since ill add more characters an gain new Ideas.

Well, thanks for reading anyway. I now need to think about how I'll write the first nightmare 😭
