Chapter 16

A/N: Just want to ask something before you read. Do you want the story take the harem path or continue like this with the relationship between Daniel and Lily?

Daniel and Lily went back to the living room to discuss their life and what they had been through when they were separated from each other beside the time she died back then, she wanted to know what her dear husband had been through.

They sat on the couch but not beside each other, rather Daniel was sitting on the couch while Lily sitting on his lap hugging him by wrapping her arms around his neck while looking at him lovingly and kissing him from time to time.

She really missed him so much.

"Then, after I died, what happened to you?" She asked after kissing him on the lips with her quiet and melodious voice with hint of nervousness and fear in her eyes.

Daniel who heard her question remembered the time after her death. It wasn't a pleasant memory to him at all.

Because after he lost her, his life turned upside down, becoming more depressed, drowning himself in work until his health worsened, he didn't take care of himself at all and just worked and worked like a workaholic without giving a shit about himself.

Although he didn't get drunk like most people who become depressed because of something, but that made the matters worse for him. He was all the time remembering the past and the moment of his wife dying kept repeating like a broken video inside his head.

It tormented him and made his life like hell. If he got drunk, at least he would forget about it by numbing his senses, but he didn't, because since childhood he hated anything related to alcohol.

So even in this depressed state he didn't try to drink, although he was tempted many times by his workmates but he felt like his past memories were the alcohol he need to numb his senses.

His life was dull and colored in black and white, the taste of food, the feeling of happiness, the feeling of joy, he lost them. Only loneliness was his only friend.

Every night, he look at the stars in the sky and imagine himself among these stars who are shining brightly until their light diminish and disappear. He felt that this would be best way to forget about everything.

Just work and work until you die from exhaustion, but because of his mother and father still being beside him and his father-in-law and sister-in-law as well being beside him, encouraging him, he didn't lose hope in life.

But the second and the last wave hit him when his parents died in a car accident when they were driving.

It was the last thing that kept him sane and by losing it, he lost his it. No tears, no wails, nothing.

Like a lifeless doll he became.

But for one last time, he cried hard until his voice couldn't come out anymore as the pain of losing three of those who he loved and cared about so much pained his little heart so much.

He cried alone in his dull house as he felt that he really became alone in this life. Nothing could fill the great hole in his heart anymore.

As they say: what is gone will not return. It's a one way trip.

In the end he died in his sorrows while his last thoughts were about meeting his wife again.

Hearing all of that, Lily looked at Daniel's eyes that hid too much sadness with tears falling from her beautiful greed eyes like a waterfall.

She didn't imagine that he lived such a hard life at all.

Daniel who saw this smiled softly and hugged her, then began caressing her hair gently and tenderly.

"Why are you crying? It's the past and we should focus on the present that we are living. The most important thing is that we are now together."

"*Hic* But your life became a mess, I, I don't know what to say to you when you suffered this much, I'm so sorry darling, I'm so sorry~"

She cried in his embrace while Daniel continued caressing her hair gently calming her.

"You don't need to be sorry, in the end, we are together and nothing can separate us anymore."

"Um, I won't leave you never ever again, we will be together for eternity darling~"

"Well said honey~"

Then both spent some time in each other's embrace while whispering words of love to each other along the way.

And after some time, they discussed their life here in the world of DXD and how was their days and so on. Daniel found out that this world was really different from the original and it was likely an AU or something like that.

He was suspicious at the first when he saw and heard the conversation of Zeotiucs with his wife and how he had that cunning face and then discovered that he had a very big organization for surveillance and spying that no one knew about, even his son Sirzechs Lucifer didn't know about it.

And then when he heard that Odin, the All Father and the king of the Norse Gods wasn't a pervert like the original made him sure, because him being not pervert is highly suspicious and those who read the novel or watched the anime know about that well.

The only one who was the same no matter how worlds changed was Zeus. The same rapist and old fool.

He didn't change and I bet that nothing could change him either.

Anyway, after each one of them enjoyed talking, Daniel decided to have lunch together with his wife.

"Come on, let's go and have lunch, I will cook for you." Once he said that, Lily's eyes brightened and was so excited to eat his food again.

Although heaven had some good food but it wasn't that much even an amateur could cook better than that.

Besides,

"Then let's cook together like the old days Dani darling~"

'Oh, that nickname, she used to call me that whenever she was excited or happy with something. She is really back, still feeling like I'm in a dream but will get used to it as time passes by.' he thought before nodding and heading to the kitchen with her hugging his arm lovingly.

Once they reached the kitchen, they started to cook together with happy smiles on their faces. They joked and laughed making the atmosphere merry and surrounded with imaginary flowers.

It was like the old days when they used to cook together from time to time.

Daniel felt like the void in his heart was healed and filled when he reunited with Lily again.

It was the best thing happened to him since he arrived in this world.

Then while both couples where cooking and enjoying the time with each other, someone got into the kitchen and saw this with surprised expression.

She didn't believe that Daniel could smile and laugh like that at all, it was like a completely different person.

'So Daniel-san can smile like that, and even laugh huh. But it makes me quite sad to not be the reason for this change.' Shuri thought as she turned her gaze toward the woman who was beside him also smiling and laughing happily.

Both didn't notice it when Shuri came in because they were indulged in their cooking session with each other.

Shuri didn't know who was that woman beside Daniel, as she didn't see her before, but she knew one thing for sure.

She was the one who made Daniel turn like that.

Through all these years, Daniel didn't treat her bad and was kind to her and her daughter to let them live here after they lost their home, although they could go back but she didn't want to.

The place here became like a home to her where she could relax, besides, Daniel lived here and she didn't want to be separated from him.

Just being near him made her addicted to his presence, her heart flattered everytime he looked at her or talk to her. These years were enough to develop this kind of feeling.

Yes, she was in love with him, but at the same time afraid to confess because she knew that he wouldn't reciprocate the same feeling.

His heart wasn't with her but with someone else and that someone was right in front of her. It was complicated yet weird feeling.

She wanted to stay beside him but she was afraid to lose all of that in a matter of seconds. So she decided to live with that feeling buried deep inside her and consider going back to her old home in the shrine, at least she wouldn't be hurt everytime she saw him and maybe like this she could forget about him.

Although she doubted that.

Now after she got stronger, she could protect herself and her daughter so everything was good and suitable for her to leave here and go back.

Looking at him for the last time, she left with tears at the corner of her eyes, but that didn't go unnoticed by Lily as she as a woman who experienced being away and unable to reach her lover could tell that that look in Shuri's eyes was the look of a woman who had fallen in love with a man that she couldn't reach anymore.

Lily didn't know who was that woman but she knew that Daniel wouldn't do that to her, after all he loved her. Beside, that look in her eyes emphasized her thoughts.

Daniel was hers and she didn't want any woman to be beside him than her. After all, no woman liked to share.

'Well, that's better for her, at least she wouldn't be hurt anymore by these feelings. Daniel is my husband and can't be anyone else's husband.' This was her thoughts before she continued cooking with her dear husband with the same happy smile on her face again.

While at the same time, Shuri got back to her room and packed up her things along with her daughter's things, before she wrote a message on a paper to thank Daniel for what he had done for her so far and folded it and put the paper on the small table beside the bed.

Shuri then looked at Akeno who was still asleep and casted a spell on her to make her continue sleeping without any disturbances as she knew that Akeno would wake up soon and ask for Daniel and if that happened she didn't know what she would tell her.

Anyway, after everything was ready, she got out of her room with her things and Akeno in her embrace and walked toward the door of the mansion, opening it and getting out.

She looked at the flowers in the garden one last time before she went out through the gates of the mansion and walked straight back to her old home in the shrine.

'So she left, huh.'
