Chapter 4 Magic Beings

For Klied, the situation of the shelter is only getting worst and worst.

A week ago their shelter was raided by a Gang of notorious criminals who were former inhabitants of Earth.

They attacked Arc shelter one night to steal their food, take the women and kill the rest.

Vanessa who was awake at that time was able to shout when she saw the approach and woke everyone up or they would have lost everything.

With that shout, everyone rallied to defend the shelter against 40 gang of criminals armed with clubs.

They successfully defended the shelter and killed 9, but with great sacrifice of 25 people on their side.

They also lost all the food they have gathered that could have lasted them for a month.

Left with no choice, Tony and Vanessa with 13 others were forced to hunt and find food.

Klied was against this and suggested they just leave, because those gang of criminals could come back to seek revenge at them anytime.

But they didn't listen to reason, as an unexpected accident happened and they lost ten more.

With just 25 people who were majority women and children left, they have no chance to fight against 31 gang of criminals.

But with Slane who could use magic that no one from earth can use, he also killed the Demon Boar which was more than a thousand Kilos, they have a chance to survive.

Slane who was suddenly given such a responsibility gave protest.

"Tell me, why would you offer your position to me just like that?"

Klied who was kneeling looked up to the man sincerely and told him what happened.

"Please protect this shelter, I don't want my daughter to be taken away and get killed. If you Help us,I will do anything you want that is within my capability."

Slane pondered for a moment and then hold Klied's arm and lifted him up.

"Even if I do agree, What's in it for me? why should I risk myself?"

"...I..." Klied was silent, He couldn't force a stranger to help them.

Then Slane whispered to Klied.

"A Date with your daughter and I'll do it..."

"and also, you must follow my instructions without hesitation or objections or I can just abandon this place"

left with no choice, Klied can only answer.

"We have a deal then, please take good care of us" Klied smiles to the man but inwardly he thought 'you can take my daughter over my Dead body'.

Slane began to ask about the information of the shelter from Klied and saw the problems on the shelter.

The population is currently like this, they have 12 women, 11 children , 2 abled men which was Klied and Johann.

Most women were on their 20's while 5 were on their 30s

2 children haven't reached 4 yet, 1 was five years old who was Lily, 5 were age 7-10, the rest were 11-13 years old the oldest were Maggie and her twin.

The water supply was from the river 1 km away and had to be carried using leaves formed as bowls using mud to keep it together and small animal leather as container.

They have no metal tools, and have to tie rock to a stick using vines to have makeshift tools.

At least the wooden huts were somewhat decently made, as large sticks were tied together with a Center pillar made from the largest part of a tree.

As for the field that was planted with edible vegetables, only little sprouts were left. It would take a long time to grow before these can be eaten, so he can only leave it be.

The next morning

With the soulmancer knowledge that was imparted to him, Slane understood what the spring of Eden is.

Spring of Eden are magic beings who flows through all creation, they are not inanimate objects but are small living spirits.

No one can see them except for the ones with eyes of truth, they keep the sacred Eden maintain balance.

But with the use of magic, this balance is changed and results in manipulation of the elements using the mind.

When a Fireball is conjured, the magic beings in the area work together and gather heat, Fuel, and air to form it's core.

Then when the cast was finished, other magic beings pushes the ball forward to it's target.

Soulmancers who manipulates the living and the dead holds the power to control these magic beings.

What they do is still magic but with no elements.

Soulmancers manipulates the origin unlike the magister who manipulates the product the magic beings produce.

With this, Soulmancers have the power of creation and can change anything to any state.

and so, Slane plans to use this to practice.

First he had Johann and Klied dig a 1 meter diameter hole with a depth of 6 ft at the south part of the shelter.

Johann were puzzled as to why they dug a hole but still followed

"This will be our new source of water"

Slane bend down and put his hand on the ground.

"We have thought of this before but without proper tools to dig, we wont be able to dig deep enough to make a well"

Klied looked at Slane and said his piece of mind, he doesn't really care about Slane's management of the shelter and just want him to just provide protection.

"That's right, this is a waste of...."

before Johann could finish, a rumbling sound was heard and then water was flowing in the hole they just dug.

"H-how... is this possible..."

Vanessa who was watching over them was amazed.

Not minding the trio's shock, Slane just smiled at them and said.

"I just had to pull the water up if I can't dig deep enough to make it "

Slane then instructed them to put rocks around the hole and went to the wooden huts.

"These huts would be okay as a place to stay on temporarily but does not look safe enough, so we have to adjust it."

Placing his hands at the center pillar, he gathered spring of Eden to the large piece of wood.

The pillar came to life as branches, leaves and roots spread from the pillar. Vines and Branches reinforced the floor and the wall, while the tree moved up.

From the looks of it, the wooden huts now looks like an enchanted Tree House with vines created as rope ladders.

Vanessa who was with him, couldn't control her feet and fell on her knees.

"S-Slane... Who are you really?..."
