Day 2 : The Mysterious text....

A small crack is enough to shatter a large piece of glass...

Similarly, a small incite is enough to shatter humans trust and give birth to a huge misunderstanding...

_________

The next morning, like the previous day, they ditched their classes and got assembled on the roof top to discuss further.

But there was a catch this time. Xavier wasn't present.

Emmie handed out the paper from her pocket and stretched it forward for Arnel and Zephyr to see.

It was the same paper that Flora had given her the day before.

They both read all the four names of the person she had without giving much reaction.

But, when they looked at the name of the person she had last met with, they were completely bewildered.

The fright on their face was clearly visible.

"How can it be....They weren't even acquainted with each other." Arnel was completely perplexed.

"But, anyhow, everything seems to make sense now." Zephyr spoke.

Because the person in those real pics, they saw yesterday, was none other than Xavier.

He concluded that Yena must have been in an argument with him the last time they met. So, he hurt her to get even with her.

But, Emmie wasn't satisfied with this conclusion at all. She believed that what they saw in those pics might not be the truth necessarily.

There were tons of theories each one of them suggested. But, they didn't seem to reach a logical and convincing conclusion yet.

Suddenly, Emmie recalled something and shouted "What are we going to tell Xavier, for now."

"We still have no idea whether he is clean or not. The only thing we can do is to avoid him for the time being." Zephyr suggested.

"Let's just text him saying that we can solve the rest on our own and there is no need for him to trouble himself anymore." Arnel spoke while texting him.

Emmie wanted to directly ask him about the truth, but she reluctantly heeded to their words.

Suddenly, Emmie's phone buzzed loudly. She immediately unlocked her phone to read the message she had received.

It was from an unknown number.

Her face turned pale and her body was paused as soon as she read the text.

"What's wrong Emmie? You don't look too well."

Flora asked.

"Oh.. Nothing! I was just annoyed by a spam message. She replied hesitantly.

"Let's interrogate those four people first. We may get some leads." Emmie went on.

Flora and Zephyr went for the ones from their grade while Arnel and Emmie decided to interrogate the ones from Yena's grade.

Emmie was still not sure on whom to trust.

But, right now Arnel was the safest option.

Maybe, we are always at odds but I don't think it will be him. We are cousins after all. She thought to herself.

She kept staring at Arnel, observing him head to toe.

"Just spill it out, I know you want to say something." he said without even looking at her.

She was still in a daze about what to do, but somehow, she decided to trust him and showed him the text.

Arnel had the same reaction as she had when she read the text.

"But, why did the person send you this rather than telling the exact name? What if this person is the culprit and he did so just to confuse you?" Arnel spoke breathlessly.

"I don't think so. But, I think we definitely need to observe them." Emmie sounded quite determined so Arnel agreed.

After interrogating all four of them The Aliferos met up on the roof top again.

"Nothing unusual, they were just involved in a fight over some trifle with Yena, that also years ago." Flora and Zephyr concluded their assertion.

"We also didn't find anything specific, it was just some dispute over the class ranking."

Emmie and Arnel sighed.

As Emmie and Arnel had planned, they showed that text to both of them in hope of finding something.

"This must be to drive a wedge between us." Flora panicked.

She had already lost her cool.

But to stark contrast, Zephyr seemed unbothered.

"Now, I am even more sure. It is definitely Xavier." he said confidently.

"Then, that's more of the reason, we should show him this text and ask for the truth." Emmie was still doubtful.

"Fine then. We will ask him directly in the evening after school but we need to be prepared, just in case ..." Zephyr added.

They all went back to their classes, promising to meet at the time of their appointment, to take the necessary precautions before meeting Xavier.

But, just after a minute or two, Emmie left the class again, keeping the rest in a fix.

To ease the tense environment, she pretended to be going to the washroom.

She had left after receiving a call from the same person, she had got the text from.

She secretly met up with that person in the store room, so as not to get caught.

"This is what you needed." that mysterious person spoke while handling her some papers.

"I have summed up everything for your comfort." she added.

"Oh.. I am really grateful and also thank you for sending that text." Emmie replied, while taking those papers.

"By the way, what was their reaction to that text." 'That' person enquired.

"Nothing much.... It's just that they were all too worked up. So, I couldn't get to analyse them that properly. And yes, they have also grown some prejudice towards Xavier." Emmie explained.

"So, are you guys going to meet him to sort out the differences or not?" 'that' person asked.

"Ya, we are. It took me a lot of work to convince them. We will be meeting in the evening. I will send you the location, so, try to be around as we talk." Emmie reminded 'that' person.

"You should better head back now. Or else they might get suspicious. See you later..." 'that' person said while waving her hand and leaving first.

Emmie waved back with a smile.

Then she rolled up those papers and placed them in the inner pocket of her coat and went back to the class.

She wasn't away for too long, so, no one doubted her. This made her relieved.

The way she secretly and spotlessly met with 'that' person, without alerting others made her feel like a secret agent.

' Should I consider being a spy or a double agent when I grow up. I am acting more and more like them already. Or I could also go for a police or lawyer, I guess. They sound so cool and awesome. ' she thought to herself, laughing in her head.

"Have you gone insane, after coming back from the washroom."

"Ahh... She must have. After all she doesn't have a good memory of there any way."

Arnel and Zephyr mocked her.

She stopped laughing instantly, but, was too embarrassed to argue with them.

But luckily, the last class ended just after. So, she didn't have to bear it any longer.

They all bid farewell and rushed back home.

But, everyone was still unaware of the fact that Emmie was being backed up by a third party.

They were completely clueless of the fact, that they were all just a part of her grand plan.

The fact that they were dancing on her fingertips like puppets.

The seemingly confusing situation was actually a plot set up by Emmie and that mysterious person.

That text wasn't a lie either, because the one who was hiding secrets and lying to them was Emmie herself.

The only thought left in her head was 'how were they going to react when they would find out the truth.?'
