Her Monster

Her palms became sweaty. The sounds returned, the maniac laughter followed suit, and then she heard a whisper, "You can't run any more" with more laughter. 

Leila held the head of the chair to stop her hands from flying to her ears.

"Please" Leila pleaded in her mind

She did not want to go crazy before them. She would rather not reveal her weakness before them. But even at that, her mind still was not complying.

"Should I show them?" she heard her monster's voice again

"Please no" she pleaded in her mind as her grip on the chair tightened, "I'll do anything, please"

She did not mind making a deal with the devil right now. After all, she has done way worst things with the devil. Just this minor thing will not change anything, but will keep her at ease.

At least for some time.

The room was quiet, and she could not turn to face them. She could feel their gazes on her, and she wished she could absorb the sweat forming on her face.
