Chapter 24
It’s a huge improvement and one that Quinn thinks could really turn things around for Skylar’s mental health. He’s not as relaxed and happy as he was at the seaside cabin and still will lose himself in his own head but he seems to be sleeping better and that can make all the difference.
Quinn drops his bag by the front door and hangs up his coat as he enters. The room is tidy and clean, as it usually is nowadays since Skylar has moved in. It’s a habit that Quinn can’t seem to break him out of, no matter how many times he tells Skylar he doesn’t expect anything, that Skylar doesn’t need to do anything to repay him. But no matter the uneasy feelings it stirs up in Quinn, he won’t force the young man to stop if it makes him feel better.
“Skylar?” Quinn calls out making his way through the open area. The couch is empty, the kitchen, bare but spotless. He makes his way to the hall and stops by Skylar’s cracked door.
