Dayie stares at the people fighting—scintars clashing amidst the bright of day, people howling battle cries and guards trying to parry the attacks with their spears. She could hear them very well; the cry for freedom, and the plea for hers. Dayie, at that moment, didn't exactly know what else to feel. She could see the dirty-blond hair of Farhad and his gritted teeth as he fights, Ruri who was the only magician amidst the masses, and then, Dayie saw him.
