"Mark Cooper's gaze was extremely fierce and full of disgust," Jane stepped forward and held Jack in her arms, "What are you coming at me for? Don't talk about my child."

As the two were about to fight again, John calmly spoke up, "Lucas."

Mark Cooper turned his head to look at him, and John said, "Go sit in your office."

John didn't say another word to Jane, and he and Mark Cooper left directly.

Alice Garcia quickly followed, but not before reminding Jack, "Your mother is very ill, take her home quickly."

Jack pursed his lips and looked at Mark Cooper's back with anger in his eyes. He held Jane's hand and sullenly said, "Mom, let's go too."

Jane nodded and left St. Mary's Hospital with Jack. While they were hailing a taxi by the roadside, Jane's aunt, who had been taking care of her at Lavender Manor, walked up to them with a smile and said, "Miss Jane, " She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Mr. John actually cares about you a lot. He has been reminding me to take good care of you during this time."

Jane laughed. John's concern was like poison to her. She couldn't bear it.

"Thank you, Auntie." She could ignore John, but she couldn't ignore her aunt who took care of her during her confinement. After smiling, her aunt got on a bus and left.

When she got home, Jane's first thing was to take a bath and eat something. Then she lay down to sleep, with Jack by her side the whole time.

Even after she fell asleep, Jack was still lying next to the bed.

She slept for a long time, and when she woke up the next morning, it was already early. When she went downstairs to wash up, Franklin Garcia and Elizabeth were not around. Alice Garcia was sitting at the dining table, and Jack was looking at her with a sullen expression.

When she came down, Jack offered her the soup he was holding, "Mom, drink the soup."

Jane glanced at the soup in front of Alice Garcia, which was the same as the one Jack had given her, and it was probably made by Jack or Auntie Xia. That's why he was so sullen.

Alice Garcia raised an eyebrow, "Do you have to be so petty? Just because I drank some of your soup, you're all looking at me like I'm a thief?"

Jack spoke up at this point, "I made this soup especially for Mom." In other words, it seemed like he was saying that Alice Garcia didn't deserve to drink it.

As soon as the soup touched her lips, Alice Garcia found it suddenly tasted bland. She put down her porcelain spoon, elegantly wiped her mouth, and gave Jane a hostile look. "You've only been promoted to vice president for a short while, but you've been absent from work for almost half a month. Your passive and negligent attitude is making Mom very unhappy."

Jane calmly sipped her son's lovingly made soup and met Alice Garcia's gaze. "Our company has a flexible attendance system. Although I'm not physically present at the office, I haven't missed any meetings, and I always communicate with the director and producer about the on-site filming situation on time. Your accusation of me being passive and negligent is unfounded."

Alice Garcia sneered. What Jane said was indeed true, but the real reason she had managed to keep her position at Starlight without showing up for such a long time was because of John's protection that day.

Thinking of John made her feel anxious. She had followed him to the dean's office yesterday, but was turned away at the door and had to wait outside for more than half an hour. When John and Mark Cooper finally came out and saw her, they ignored her completely. It was so embarrassing that she felt like dying.

This unrequited love was driving her crazy.

"Jane, I hope your luck stays as good as it is now." Alice Garcia stood up, took her car keys, and left with her head held high.

Jane watched her leave, a mocking smile on her face. She was determined to win over John, but it was easier said than done.

After Alice Garcia left, the atmosphere at home became much more relaxed. It had been a long time since they had seen each other, and Aunt Xia and Jack were almost glued to Jane. Xia Auntie looked at Jane and couldn't help saying, "It seems like you've been doing well lately. Your complexion looks better than before."

Jane was absent-minded and touched her own face. "Really?"
