Jill is sick(2)

Vivian West had been listening to John's phone call the entire time, and when she saw his expression darken, she asked with concern, "John, is something wrong?"

John's face was cold and composed as he checked his phone and realized that Jill had called him forty minutes ago, but he hadn't answered. "I have something to deal with. Wait here, and I'll have Brian take you home."

His tone brooked no argument, and he headed towards his car.

Vivian West's face turned imperceptibly white, and she hurried to catch up. "John, I can come with you. Maybe I can help."

John's impatience showed. "No need. Just wait here."

He had already told Brian to come for her.

Vivian West stood stiffly in place, watching John leave without looking back.

So in his eyes, was Jill more important than her, Vivian West?

Just one phone call, and he didn't care about her feelings, leaving her behind with his assistant?

At the hospital, John searched everywhere before finally finding Jill in the ward, covered in spots on her face. Jane sat beside her on a hard bench, holding her hand and looking at her with love and concern.

At that moment, Jill was already asleep.

The ward was quiet, so quiet that they could hear Jane's occasional sobbing.

When John arrived, his anger dissipated upon seeing this scene. "What happened to Jill?" he asked.

Jane turned her head to glare at him fiercely. She didn't care whether her voice was unpleasant to hear anymore as she shouted angrily at John, "The doctor says Jill has chickenpox. Why didn't I vaccinate her? Is this how you raise your children, the John family?"

If Jill had been vaccinated, she wouldn't have gotten chickenpox, and she wouldn't have had to suffer like this.

John was surprised at Jane's sudden outburst. Her voice... why had it changed completely?

Jane pointed to her throat, "Before my two children turned four, I was diagnosed with throat cancer by a doctor and knew I didn't have much time left. That's why I didn't fight for custody of Jill with you. Now, it's been confirmed that it was just poisoning, and even though my voice is destroyed, I won't die. I want to fight for Jill's custody."

She spoke with a broken voice that seemed to leak air, but her words were powerful.

John sneered, "What ability do you have to challenge me?"

Jane clenched her fists. "Just based on how poorly you treated my daughter."

John's gaze shifted to Jill's face, which was almost entirely covered in chickenpox. If it left scars, it could ruin her appearance, no wonder Jane was so angry.

"I didn't know chickenpox was a disease, nor did I know about the vaccine." He explained, lifting his eyelids.

Jane sneered, "You just don't love Jill as much. If that's the case, give her back to me."

Her ability to survive was her greatest confidence, her greatest power.

Before, she thought she was going to die, so she didn't dare to fight for custody. Now, what couldn't she dare to do?

John frowned, his temper rising. "No one wants Jill to get sick. Don't make a fuss over nothing."

Jane laughed, but her laughter was grating. "You all went out and left Jill alone at home. She got sick, and when she called you, you didn't even answer. You still have the nerve to say I'm making a fuss?"

"I'm sorry, Jane. John and I were just having dinner together. He probably didn't notice his phone, so he missed Jill's call." Vivian West's gentle voice interrupted the tense atmosphere.
