Chapter Twenty One

Siegfried checked the watch on his wrist. He glanced at his cousin, who was still trying to contact Blaze. Today is the day of the first trial and the lawyer is late. He snorted in annoyance.

"Is this the work ethic of a professional lawyer? Late on trial day?" said Sieg with annoyance.

Cameron sighed and looked at his cousin. "Hey, who knows he's stuck in traffic. After all, there was still twenty minutes before the trial started. Don't be so annoying."

"Yeah, actually whose cousin are you, eh? Why are you defending him more?" said Sieg.

Cameron rolled his eyes. This morning, Sieg was in a bad mood, so he wouldn't be surprised if a small matter like this made his cousin very upset. "I'm not defending him, but you're exaggerating, Lowells. And you shouldn't have to act like this. If you think about what happened the other day at the bar…"

"Cameron Carter!! Don't bring it up! Besides, I don't remember anything about it!" cried the man angrily.

Cameron hissed. "If you don't remember then don't be such a nuisance. Why do you become sensitive whenever Blaze's name is mentioned?"

Without them knowing, Blaze approached them and heard his name called by Cameron. He frowned slightly confused. "Why me? What about me?"

The two suddenly turned around. Cameron smiled faintly while Sieg took a deep breath. "We were just worried if you ran into something on the way."

"Oh, sorry. The road is very jammed. But I'm not late, am I?" Blaze said.

Cameron shook his head. "The trial hasn't started yet," then he entered the courtroom first.

Blaze looked at Siegfried and bowed slightly. "Sorry if I'm late."

"As Cameron said, the trial hasn't started yet. So, there's no need to apologize," said the man.

Blaze nodded. But then the situation became awkward. The two of them were still thinking about what happened at the bar. No one remembers anything about it, but even wanting to ask doesn't seem possible. Siegfried took another breath and glanced slightly at his wound which was still bandaged. Is the wound serious enough? It's been a few days.

"Your wound hasn't healed yet?"

Blaze shook his head. "The doctor said it might take about two weeks."

"Oh. If the doctor thinks you need special treatment, just send the bill to the company. Right now, you are our asset, so anything that concerns you is our responsibility," said Siegfried flatly.

"But the injuries weren't that serious. I-"

"This is a direct order from the Chairman of Lowells Group, Lawyer Schift. My grandfather –ah, I mean the President of Lowells Group wants anyone who works for our company to get…"

His words were cut off when Cameron reappeared. "You don't want to come in? The trial will begin," he said, returning to enter.

Sieg hissed annoyed at his cousin's attitude. But he couldn't do anything. That's the man's character.

"I think we should go in, Mr. Lowells," Blaze said.

"Wait. Lawyer Schift, after the trial, we have something to talk about," said Sieg with a little hesitation.

Blaze looked at him intently. "About this case?"

"No. But regarding what happened at the bar the other day." Then Siegfried entered the courtroom without seeing Blaze's expression.

Blaze bit his lower lip. Today he really hopes that Siegfried or Cameron will not bring up the problem at the bar yesterday. But when Siegfried asked him to meet after the trial, his hopes were crushed. He took a deep breath.

Does he remember what happened? Ah, I don't even remember at all until today.

Cameron folded his arms in front of his chest while watching Sieg and Blaze, who were talking privately from a distance of about three hundred meters from him. He had wondered why his cousin wanted to pull the lawyer's arm after they left the courtroom. At first, he thought that Sieg wanted to talk about the land dispute case, but why wasn't he involved?

He sighed. "What are they talking about? Regarding this case or…. What happened at the bar yesterday? But didn't Sieg himself who said that there was no need to discuss the matter because he didn't remember it. Why does he have to talk to Blaze about that matter?"

"Ah never mind. That's their business," said Cameron, who finally chose to leave and wait for his cousin in the parking lot.

Siegfried breathed a sigh of relief seeing Cameron, who had left. Blaze slightly turned to Cameron and back at Siegfried. There was a long pause and they only looked at each other occasionally.

"So, hitting that bar…." Blaze said carefully.

Siegfried took a breath. "Cameron told me about it. I just don't remember what happened in the toilet."

Blaze closed his lips tightly. Looks like Cameron's story is the same as Jae's story. Neither of them knew anything about what happened in the toilet. They also both don't remember their incident in the toilet before Cameron and Jae came looking for them.

"Lawyer Schift, do you remember? I asked you because I thought-"

"I don't remember it either, Mr. Lowells. But I guess it was just a misunderstanding. And we're both drunk. So, there's no need to discuss it again," Blaze said quickly.

Siegfried raised an eyebrow. Well, Blaze looks so calm. Yet he himself felt strange. For some reason, he felt that he had said or done something inappropriate to the man. It made him feel a little guilty towards Blaze. That's also the reason why his mood is so bad this morning –because he will meet him again.

"You look so calm. You sure you heard the full story about what happened at the bar yesterday? And think it was just a misunderstanding?" Siegfried asked.

Blaze nodded. "We're both drunk and when we're drunk, sometimes people do things that don't make sense. It was just a misunderstanding. None of us remember it anyway, do we? So, let's just forget about it and pretend nothing happened."

"Pretend nothing ever happened? Even when we found out – I found out from my cousin, so you're probably from that friend of yours named Jae – that we almost made out in the toilet?"

Damn, Siegfried Lowells! Should you say it out loud? He slightly regretted his words just now. But his words could not be taken back. Now he wanted to see how Blaze reacted. He had to finish it today, or else he would…. Ah, where is Cameron when he needs him to relieve this awkward situation.

Blaze held his breath. Hell, the man really said what he didn't want to hear anymore. It was enough for Jae to tell it and he had a mental breakdown. Now he had to hear it again from the man's mouth directly. Couldn't today be any worse?

Blaze took a deep breath. He looked at the man seriously. "It was just a misunderstanding, Mr. Lowells. Don't take it too seriously."

Siegfried was a little surprised by Blaze's reaction. The lawyer acted like it was a joke. Another bad luck, I look stupid for asking him about that.

"Oh, so I'm the only one who thought about the incident seriously. Okay, I understand. Well, as you said Lawyer Schift, that never happened. Sorry for wasting your time talking about something non-serious. See you at the next trial."

Then he left Blaze, who was surprised by the attitude of the young director. Blaze looked at Siegfried's back which was away from him. He took a deep breath.

Why does he look so angry? Did he take it seriously?

Siegfried entered the car with a furious expression. Cameron, who was sitting in the driver's seat, just looked at him in confusion. It felt like when he left the two to talk, Sieg's mood wasn't this bad. Did something happen again?

"Are we going to the Legion?" asked Cameron. He didn't want to die to ask about what the man talked about with Blaze.

Sieg took a deep breath and put his seatbelt on. "Up to you. I don't want to go back to the office."

Cameron frowned slightly but he just kept his mouth shut. Then he put on his seatbelt and started the car engine. However, when he was about to drive the car, he saw Blaze who was approached by a man. It felt like he had seen that man's face – somewhere.

Siegfried looked at Cameron who fixedly. "You're not driving?"

"Oh, sorry. I just saw Blaze talking to someone I seemed to know," His cousin said.

But Sieg just snorted. "Start the car, Carter." The man is not even curious at all – for what?

Cameron hissed softly and then drove his car back out of the court area. But along the way to Legion, he still felt curious about the woman who met Blaze. He was very sure that he had seen the man somewhere. It's just that he can't remember where.

He took a deep breath. "I don't know why his face looks familiar?" he muttered.

Siegfried glanced at him with annoyance. "You're still thinking about the man who met Lawyer Schift?" he said.

Cameron nodded without looking at his cousin. "I think I've seen him before. I'm not sure, but it feels very familiar."

"Tchh… Why are you so curious? Are you interested in Lawyer Schift? I thought you were a straight, Carter? How great is Lawyer Schift's charm on you?" Sieg said in a sarcastic tone.

Cameron glared in annoyance. "Hey! Don't make fun of someone with their sexuality. I'm straight although I have to admit Blaze is quite charming for a man's size. But no thanks. I'm still attracted to breasts and v-ginas."

Sieg chuckled. "If your mother hears you talk vulgar like that, her blood pressure will rise."

"But I'm still a normal man, Sieg. Well, I still react quite actively when I see a woman. In contrast to you who look passive and even tend to ignore it. I think you're really gay," Cameron replied.

Suddenly, Sieg's expression changed. "Do you want to die young?"

"Well, I still want to get married. So, put off your desire to kill me, Young Master Lowells," then Cameron was silent for a moment. He started muttering words like marriage, proposal and special resort events.

Sieg, who watched him, now frowned confused by his cousin's attitude. "Hey Carter, are you okay? You're muttering strange words."

"Hailey Reyes!! That woman looks a lot like Hailey," Cameron suddenly exclaimed.

Siegfried raised an eyebrow. " Hailey Reyes? That woman at Siargao resort? Are you sure? Hailey Reyes is a woman and earlier it was a man."

Cameron glared in annoyance. "I know Hailey Reyes is a woman. But the man's face was quite similar to hers. Oh wait! I heard Hailey Reyes has a twin brother. I think that man is her twin brother."

"How did you know Hailey Reyes has a twin brother? Are you that interested in Blaze that you-"

"Hey! Listen first! Just so you know, the law firm where Blaze works is owned by Lawyer Jordan Reyes, Hailey Reyes's father. Well, I was looking for information before coming to the firm. And Jordan Reyes has twin boys and girls. Ah, I don't remember the son's name," said Cameron.

Siegfried snorted. "Hah, you really are interested in Lawyer Schift as it turns out. Even you are looking for information about the family of his ex-lover. Woah, Carter, you are really great."

"I told you I'm not interested in Blaze!!"

"Then why did you call him by his first name?"

"That's because he asked for it. Well, calling him Lawyer Schift is a bit awkward. Blaze is better, right?"

Sieg rolled his eyes. "Up to you. I am not interested."
