Chapter One Hundred Fifty Eight

Hans handed a can of coffee to Warren, who had just finished surgery. The man smiled faintly and accepted the can of coffee. He then sat next to him. They were in an empty corridor on the seventh floor of the hospital.

Warren opened the can and took a sip. "I thought today was your day off, Hans."

"Indeed," said Hans. His gaze was still straight ahead, staring at the scene outside the large window. The sky in Manila is already so dark. "But I prefer to go to the hospital rather than stay at home."

Warren's brow furrowed. It feels like just yesterday that Hans said that if he got a day off, he wanted to sleep all day. But today he came to the hospital instead. I don't know since when he has been in the hospital, or even if he hasn't come home at all after his shift is over.

"Why?" Warren asked quietly.
