Chapter 33

The media vans descended on the school just as the students arrived. Predictably Mr. Hand stormed out the doors to shoo them away. The students were to be brainwashed only by the school teachers. He didn't want any competition from the media.

He walked right into their microphones. I sat on the hood of John Wayne's car and watched it all happen.

"Mr. Hand, you're the principal of Punkie's Hounds High?" a young looking blond woman asked.

"Yes," Mr. Hand said, "and we don't encourage disruptions to student learning..."

"But you do tolerate assault and rape?"

"Of course not, any student who acts out violently against another student is immediately suspended."

"Is it true that there was a serious sexual assault at the last Christmas Dance?"

"There was an unfortunate incident, yes..."

"What is your response to the rumor that the cause of the incident was the spiking of the punch at the dance?"

"The punch was not spiked."
