Colonization

Rin opened his inventory and smiled. "Wow! A sand colonizer, just for me?" he exclaimed.

"But of course host, the colonizer is for you! :)." The system replied. Rin really appreciated the kindness he was not used to.

Rin then clicked onto the colonizer and an option appeared for him to take the colonizer out. But he chose against it, if he was going to do this whole colonizer thing he might as well pick a cool spot.

Rin walked down from the beach-looking area he was currently at. He sighed and remembered his old spot and where he had started out as originally.

When he was trapped in his dream his intellect was also quite limited. But.. this also allowed him to enjoy things more than an intelligent person could. His imagination was much higher than what it is normally. That's kind of why there were a lot of strange anomalies in his dream.

Under Rin's feet sand cracked as he walked. The sound was satisfying Rin a bit too much but he tried to ignore it, there was nothing too crazy about it afterall.

Rin had been used to that exclusive sand, the stuff that you would only be able to get if you had the right type of money or knew the right type of people. Him having his degrees in sand, he had inspected quite a lot of different specimens of sand during his lifetime.

And this is all not to mention the time he had in his dream.

As Rin was currently trying to find an area with a suitable land, there was a new system message that everybody got.

"Gerald has created the first guild in the game! Congratulations to him for this achievement!"

...

"Was this some kind of joke.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I WANTED THAT ACHIEVEMENT!" Rin angrily kicked some of the sand surrounding him in fury but he instantly regretted it.

He reached down and put some of the sand into his hands and brought it close to his face.

"You know I don't really mean that, right?" He rubbed the sand onto his cheek and let it flow away slowely into the wind. As he looked on the horizon his eyes locked onto an interesting sight.

There was.. purple sand. Yes, purple sand. Around it was a hill and it looked as if it was a shrine of some sort on top of the hill. A shrine to what, he wasn't sure. A sand god perhaps?

"That's perfect!" Rin shouted. He was truly excited. Not only had he found a cool shrine to a possible sand god, but he had also found a rare sand type. There had to be a treasure of some sort for this sand to turn purple, and he would be the first to claim it.

Having this sand type and this shrine would surely assist his new colony in the future.

Rin walked up near the purple sand and opened his inventory.

"Well, I've never been that good with words but.. It's one small step for man on a beach of sand.. and millions of deaths that are executed by my sheer will. I will destroy all with the pure intent of destruction. Meaninfulness is not important. It is not what I am about. I don't care about a motive, my lack there of is the motive itself. I am, and always will be, a strange being in this world that is inhabited by people without a care for others. Wait what was I talking about again?" Rin shrugged his shoulders and clicked on to colonize.

As soon as he confirmed his action a giant bubble object jumped out of Rin's forehead and began to expand. Anything that came close went through the object, after reaching a good size it dug itself into the floor.

"Analyzing resource amount.." a message appeared in Rin's head.

"Mystic sand 40%.. Regular sand 30%... Unknown sand 10%... Iron sand 20%.." Another message appeared.

"Wow! It looks like I was quite lucky! Not only is there a large amount of what appears to be called Mystic sand, there is also an unknown 10%! What if it's another treasure?" Rin had many reasons to be happy at this point. There was nothing that could ruin his day..

"Colony level 1. Upgrade to level 2 to build." Another message appeared into his head. He soon found out anytime he even thought about his colony he would suddenly gain messages that showed the current status of it, level, information, the area, etc. He had perfect vision of the entire area.

Rin tested the distance of this out and it seemed that it was infinite. This would allow him to be able to see what was going on at his colony no matter where he was. He also had a way to teleport to the colony whenever he wanted! Just what was the end goal of this game?

"They must have this option put in so that players won't slack on their own levels and just grow their forces. I kind of get it, you can't be too lazy right?" Rin then walked to some of the purple sand and dug his hand into it.

"Feels nice.. it also feels like I'm gaining an energy of some sort when I touch it." A chaotic energy then began to break out in Rin's chest. He fell to the ground in pain.

His heart shrieked as it began to beat slower and slower. His face paled. He breathed a long deep breath in an attempt to regain control of his body, but his breathing also began to deteriorate.

"What.. is happening?!" Rin yelled out to the system.

"Host is currently absorbing some of the Mystic stand. I advise to stop being a baby, the pain is akin to stepping on a lego. You're so extra." Sera, the system replied to Rin.

Right after this Rin began to feel much better. "Oh you're right, it was all in my head.. hahaa... my bad." He then jumped up and headed back to the stalls of the shops in town.

After a long while of walking he finally arrived to his destination.. the meditative stand.

"I already said I would go here.. and here I am!" Rin smiled but his smile soon left his face.

"Why.. WHY IS THERE SUCH A BIG CROWD?" He screamed as his eyes met with a group of 800, just attempting to get into line.

Rin's heart was broken. How was he to enjoy his meditative experience?

Thankfully.. he was saved. The man that he had gotten instructions of previously had recognized Rin from afar and telepathically sent a message into his head.

"Come in.. You're our first member, a vip."

Rin smiled. He had finally been getting the treatment he deserved. "Yes sir!" he replied as he began to stomp forward.

"Hey buddy, get in line!" the old man in the tracksuit from earlier said. When he saw it was Rin he jumped back and began to cry once more.

The people got angry and annoyed about the man in line and just chucked him out of place, he'd have to start all over from the back of the line.

Everybody else wasn't surprised about Rin because they all saw one thing. A finger that was motioning for Rin to move forward. This was the meditative instructor. They couldn't tell this esteemed figure what to do!

Finally, Rin was inside and began to.. meditate.

His eyes changed to a white as he sucked in air into his lungs and his head pointed upward. The scenery blurred and then changed to a completely different one.

Rin was in the sky with a bright light covering the area. In front of him was an angel. He looked at it with sympathy. He wasn't sure why he was sympathetic to the angel, but he also felt like he knew the angel. Like it was apart of him and he had always known it would return.

"Who are you?" He asked with curiosity.

The angel looked back at him. It was a being of pure light with the face of a beautiful female. She smiled at his question.

The angel did not reply.

"WHO ARE YOU!?" Rin screamed at her. She continued to smile but there was concern hidden in her eyes. The scenery then changed once more.

Rin's heart began to beat faster as he was then shown a series of fast changing images.

A picture of sand, a picture of sand in a child's hands. A school. An ancient man. Lava. Snails. Sand. The angel. The changes were multiple and happened in the time of a second each.

The changes then sped up even more.

Until.. it stopped and it was just blackness. He could see words in his head and it looked like they were large and right in front of him, as if he could reach out and touch them if he wanted to.

They just said.. "Son, are you safe?"
