Chapter 4- Start Line

"So this looks fun, huh? You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all going to be games and playtime?" Aizawa smirks, almost evilly, and continues. "Idiots. Today you'll compete in nine physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately." Shock ripples through the class, gasps sound in the air, and jaws drop to the ground as the students quickly realize what their teacher is truly telling them.

[It's the first day and he's already threatening us? Though, this may be a good way to get out of this school.]

'I'm so late! Crap! I can't believe I slept in! I'm so dead!'

<Don't tell me…>

A figure appears in the distance, running at us.

"Huh? Who's that?" Aizawa rolls his eyes, glaring at the figure.

"He, regrettably, will be 'assisting' me in teaching you."

<What?>

The figure comes to a screeching halt in front of the class, placing his hands on his knees and gasping for air. The class stares at the newcomer, seemingly horrified that this thing is apparently capable of teaching. After a few awkward seconds he straightens himself, his breathing calmed.

"Hello! I'm your teacher," Aizawa growls, causing the man to jump, scared out of his mind of the hero. "Well, your co-teacher, Kuniharu Saiki!" He beams, proudly pointing a thumb at his chest.

"Wait, isn't that Big Lick?"

"He's like, the worst hero!"

"And he's our teacher? Maaannn…"

"Hey, don't be mean, it hurts my feelings." The class continues to mutter about their newfound teacher, most of the conversations being quite negative.

"Come on guy, it can't be that bad!"

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

"Of course he's right! And respect your teacher!"

"Yeah, yeah, fine."

"Oh, and Kusuo, your mother told me to tell you to do your best today." He gives me a thumbs-up, trying and failing to mask his fear.

'If you don't pass this she's going to kill both of us.'

[Well, there goes that plan.]

<Yeah, okay.>

"Wait, is this your dad, buddy?"

"Big Lick is your dad?"

"That sucks."

"Your quirk can't be any good then, can it?" I ignore the chatting, instead focusing on Aizawa, who looks like he's about to explode.

"Everyone shut up."

"Come on, we'll be starting the tests now!" Kuniharu explains, excitedly shooing the class to the first test.

[A race, huh. That's easy enough.]

I'm put against the explosive child, Bakugo.

[Figures.]

"I'm going to beat the crap out of you, Pink hair." The race begins, and I teleport to the end. My time was far less than a second, of course, which angers Bakugo.

'If he thinks he'll get away with that he's dead wrong!'

"Wow, Son! Good job!" Father puts an arm around my shoulders, successfully making Bakugo leave.

'I can't beat the crap out of him if his dad's the teacher. You better be thankful, Pink hair.'

Next is a grip test. I'm not worried, seeing as I have superior strength that even I can't control. I squeeze the machine, not bothering to hold back. When it fails to beep I glance down, surprised to see it fall out of my hand, broken.

"You broke it? You must be super strong if you can break it like that!" I glance at the greenette beside me and shrug.

'Everyone is so much better than me. I'm not going to pass this….'

Why do I almost feel bad for him? I sigh, not really knowing how to comfort the kid.

<If it makes you feel better, Kuniharu won't let Aizawa expel you if he can do anything about it.>

[Not that he can do anything about it, but maybe that'll put his mind at ease.] The boy glances as me, rubbing the tears out of his eyes.

"Yeah, right. Thanks."

The standing long jump is incredibly easy when you can levitate, fly, and teleport, so I easily pass that, surpassing my peers once again. It almost feels like I'm cheating.

Repeated sidesteps, harder than the others, but still easy with my enhanced speed.

The ball throw, another simple test, seeing as I can't control my strength when it comes to throwing things. I step up, standing in the white circle.

'There's no way stupid Pink hair will throw further than me. If he thinks he can, he's stupid.' I smirk as I prepare myself, winding up to throw.

[He's going to regret thinking that.] I let go of the ball, watching as it disappears into the sky. The jaws of my classmates drop as Aizawa holds out the measuring device, which reads "∞".

'How is he so much better than me?' I glance at the fiery teen, who shoves his hands in his pockets, stomping off to the next challenge.

Sit-ups were an easy feat, one that I easily overtook others in with my speed and strength.

The seated toe-touch, a seemingly useless test, was also easy, seeing as I can dislocate all of my bones if I have to, though that was unnecessary. This is one challenge that Kaido excelled in, though I still defeated him.

The distance run is another effortless test that I pass with ease, thanks to my near inability to tire and my enhanced speed.

[Just one more test. About time, this is a pain.]

"You guys have done very well! But we can't just test how you work as an individual, now can we?"

'I hope that was good, I don't want Eraser Head to think I'm useless.'

"That being said, the next test is dodgeball," Aizawa mutters, clearly not interested in the game.

"You must work as a team to win. That why it's so perfect!" Kuniharu beams, clapping his hands together.

'This was my idea! I can't believe Eraser actually agreed to it! I'm so happy!'

[Of course, it would be his idea. What a pain.]

"Dodgeball in high school?" The class mutters, clearly disappointed in this test more so than the others.

"Quit complaining! Let's give it everything we've got! So what if it's childish? It'll be fun to relive our youth! Let's go out there and dodge till we drop!" A red-headed boy yells, quickly pumping the crowd up. Another one, huh.

KINESHI HAIRO. HIS QUIRK: MOTIVATE!

HE CAN SPARK INTENSE DRIVE IN ANYONE! THIS HEIGHTENS THEIR PHYSICAL ABILITIES! HIS QUIRK WORKS ON HIMSELF AS WELL!

[Come to think about it, this whole scene is awfully familiar.]

"We'll decide teams with rock-paper-scissors," Aizawa mutters, crawling into his sleeping bag. "Tell me when you're done."

TEAM A: RIKI NENDO, SHUN KAIDO, MASHIRAO OJIRO, KATSUKI BAKUGO, FUMIKAGE TOKOYAMI, TENYA IIDA, TSUYU ASUI, CHISATO MERA, SHOTO TODOROKI, AND METORI SAIKO!

TEAM B: KINESHI HAIRO, EIJIRO KIRISHIMA, DENKI KAMINARI, MOMO YAOYOROZU, OCHACO URARAKA, IZUKU MIDORIYA, HANTA SERO, CHIYO YUMEHARA, KOKOMI TERUHASHI, AND KUSUO SAIKI!

We begin with a jump ball. Since we don't know much about each other's quirks, Hairo volunteers, somehow beating Asui, whose quirk basically revolves around jumping, to the ball. And with that, we begin.

Hairo chucks the ball, immediately taking out a blonde kid, who stupidly tried to block the ball with his tail. Hairo and another redhead cheer over the accomplishment, high-fiving each other excitedly. The team joins into their celebration, dancing around happily. Hairo's face glistens with sweat, beads dripping down like the tears of a motherless child.

[How is he sweating that much already? We just started.]

Team A is given the ball, which is immediately taken by Bakugo.

'That freak is going to wish he was never born.'

Bakugo throws the ball with his full power, using his quirk to push it forward at incredible speed.

[Figures. Well, this makes my life easier. I'll just take the hit.] The ball strikes my face, creating a mild inconvenience until it peels itself off of me. It hits the ground near my feet, rolling away from its latest victim, me.

"Dude, are you okay?" The non-Hairo redhead asks, actually concerned.

<Yeah, it didn't hurt.>

'How the hell did that not hurt him?' I glance to the other side of the court, amused to see Bakugo clenching his fist in anger. He really does hate me, huh. I turn to leave the game but am stopped by Hairo.

"Hold it, Saiki! Were you actually trying to get hit by the ball?" I nod, seeing as I have no reason to hide that fact. "For real?" I turn to walk away, but once again, I'm stopped. "Hey, where are you going? You're not out. Face Safe rule!" He smiles, handing me the ball.

[What kind of rule is that? And now I have to throw the ball? What a pain.]

"Saiki! Give it all you've got!" Hairo yells, clearly not understanding what that really means.

<I'd rather not do that. You say it like it's no big deal. But if I gave it all I've got, somebody would wind up dead.> The class stares at me skeptically, as if they don't believe me.

[Forget the "Face Safe" rule, they won't have a face anymore. Oh well. In this world, I don't have to hide. But just in case someone does end up dead, I'll aim at Nendo.] I pull the ball back, fully aware of the sudden anxious aura stinking up the court.

<You asked for it.> I throw the ball, hitting Nendo in the gut and pushing him backward and through the fence behind him.

After a few moments of silence (other than dad's panicked screaming), Nendo sits up, laughing.

"Nice try, buddy."
