Chapter 2: CFVY X JSPR PT 1

Ruby's POV

It's been a couple of days since JSPR has taken my team under their wing. Joseph taught me the basics of being a leader and coming up with strategies with chess. Samuel taught Yang about knife combat and ways to improve her close quarter combat skills. Persephone is teaching Blake how to open up to others. And, Rachel is teaching Weiss everything that she needs to know about Grim.

I will knock on Joseph's door as the door opened.

Ruby: "Hello, JSPR!"

Persephone: "Hi, Ruby." Persephone will say as she walks over and give me a hug before returning to counting off her dust on the desk.

Rachel: "Hey, Kid." Rachel will say as she finishes up tuning up Spot and adjusting her Exo suit and checking her jumpkit on a datapad.

Samuel: "Hello, Rubes." Samuel will say as he placed a mag into his weapon and placed extras in a bag.

Joseph: "Oh it's my protege, how's your day Ruby?" Joseph will say as he sheathed his sword and sling his backpack over his shoulder

Me: "Good, are you guys going somewhere?"

Samuel: "You heard about the recent increase in white fang attacks?"

Me: "Yeah, I heard about it on the news."

Rachel: "Well, we're going to be working with the Vale Police Service and go arrest a couple of potential suspects. Some of them are considered pro-huntsman and have graduated from the other Huntsman Academies."

Me: "Can I come?"

Persephone: "Though we'd love for you to come it's too dangerous for you first years. Maybe when you get a little bit more experienced we will let you join us but until then stay here. I'll bring back some cookies for you!"

I'll look down at the ground concerned for the safety of my mentors.

JSPR will finish packing and exit the room and walk down the hallway giving Ruby one last goodbye.

I'll wave back but deep inside I was wishing I was with them.

???: "Don't worry Ruby, knowing Joseph he'll take care of his team."

I'll turn towards a girl wearing dark sunglasses leaning against her room's door.

???: "I'm Coco Adel, leader of Team CFVY, Joseph told me alot about you."

Ruby: "Oh...hope they are good things."

Coco: "Don't worry they are. Anyway you seem like a cool person to hang around. Want to chill in our dorm for a little while?"

Ruby: "If you don't mind."

Coco will welcome Ruby in.

Coco: "Everyone this is Joseph's student: Ruby."

Yatsuhashi will be doing some push-ups in the corner of the room. He'll give me a nod which I returned.

Velvet: "Oh, hello Ruby." Velvet said as she looked up from watching TV.

Ruby: "Hello Velvet!" I'll wave toward my classmate.

Fox: "Hm...she's humongous."

Velvet: "Fox, she's short."

Fox: "Ah yes, she is short now."

Velvet: "He's blind." Velvet will say whispering.

I will sit next to Velvet as I watch the television with her as I look around the room. I will notice a picture of Coco and Joseph. The description saying "Team Leaders 4life."

Ruby: "Hey Coco."

Coco will look up from her scroll.

Ruby: "How did you and Joseph meet?"

Coco will think.

Coco: "It's a pretty long story."

I will look at Coco with a gleam in my eyes.

Coco will smirk

Coco: "But, I guess I can indulge your curiosity. It all started with that one mission."

I was a more...unorthodox leader...I was I guess you can say a loner. While I did believe in my team abilities I will rather do things alone to make sure they get done. 

Coco POV

Me and my team will sit in a bullhead passing by a forest. I will look at the Pilot who was originally from Atlas so he wasn't familiar with this terrain so he was flying by map.

Velvet: "Where are we?"

Fox: "I don't know, Velvet."

Velvet will look at Fox questionably before realizing that he's blind.

Velvet: "Sorry."

Fox: "No problem."

Yatsu will look at all of the trees before looking at me

Yatsu: "Why are we out here again?"

Me: "We are going to go work with some village chief. I don't know why they are giving us such easy missions..."

Fox: "We are first years Coco...."

I will sigh.

Me: "I know I know, I just thought that being one of the best meant something."

Yatsu: "Hm, still not enough to beat them."

I will look at Yatsu.

Me: "I think we can take them."

Fox: "Come on, JSPR is on a whole nother level...they basically go on missions every other week."

Me: "The amount of missions they go on doesn't matter when it comes to skill."

Pilot: "Hey, um.....I think we are lost."

I will sigh and walk towards the pilot seat slightly annoyed.

Me: "Where the hell did you bring us?"

The pilot will shrug as he tries to find a landmark.

Suddenly loud screeching can be heard all over the forest. Everyone will grab their weapons and look around at the forest floor. Suddenly a stinger will fly up into the air as the bullhead quickly avoided it.

Pilot: "Well, this is certainly not a place I want to be in."

Suddenly 5 Nevermores will surround the Bullhead and begin to attack it.

Pilot: "I'm getting us out of here."

Me: "No! We stay and fight!"

Velvet: "Are you sure?"

Fox: "I don't like this."

Yatsu: "Is that the wisest choice?"

Me: "I'm the leader! Do as I say and prepare for combat."

FVY will look at each other and shrug and jumped ontop of the bullhead. Fox will cut at the Nevermores, Velvet was kicking one Nevermore in the head, and Yatsu was slicing at another Nevermore while I used my minigun to keep them away.

Pilot: "Coco, I can leave anytime!"

Me: "NO!"

Pilot: "This damn kid."

Suddenly a Nevermore will fire a feather into the cockpit as all of CFVY stopped fighting and looked at the feather in horror.

Velvet: "Pilot? Pilot? Are you there!"

The pilot will grasp at the feather as it pierced his chest he will then go limp pushing the steering wheel and banking it hard to the left. The bullhead will begin spinning rapidly.

Yatsu: "Hold on!"

Suddenly a Nevermore will push Velvet off as she plummeted to the ground. I will look at her in shock not being able to move.

Fox: "What do we do!"

I won't respond to him as I continued to stare at the spot Velvet was. A Nevermore will appear behind me and Yatsuhashi will quickly block it, but in that attempt he was also thrown from the Bullhead.

Fox: "COCO GET A GRIP!" 

Suddenly Fox will be kicked off by a Nevermore . I could only hear his screams. The bullhead will reach ground level as I continued to stare in horror.

Me: "No....."

The only thing I can hear is the sound of burning metal and flames igniting before I pass out.
