That Idiot

"Remember what I said that there are people getting beaten up for nothing?"

At that second, Miles' eyes instantly were filled with rage.

Brian didn't have to answer the question and even the others already knew the situation.

The gnashing of teeth was heard and in the middle of the silence, it was thunderous.

"Miles.." Michelle muttered as she looked at him with concern.

He took a deep sigh and grabbed Brian by his collar and lifted him from the ground with his right hand.

"How about the other person? Have you seen him?" He inquired about Jason.

Brian lightly shook his head. "N-no. We didn't see him there from the start."

Miles stared at him and continued gritting his teeth.

'Jason was missing and the two friends that I have news on are being harmed. Damn, I want to kill them all.'

"Where in the Administrative building are they?" his eyes were sharp and coupled with a cold voice, Brian shivered. Being lifted in one hand scared him but that was nothing compared to Miles' behavior.

"T-the ground floor. T-there's a small room there for the utility tools and that's where they were keeping them." Brian answered whilst stuttering.

Miles let go of him and he slumped onto the ground.

William went to Brian and checked on him. He also instructed the others to be on their feet already and this time, they followed him.

He frowned and stared at Miles, who was wearing his backpack.

"What are you doing?" He blocked Miles' path.

"I'm going to save my friends." Miles replied then walked to the side.

But William blocked him again.

"By how? Going there right now? Do you know how strong are they? What if you go there and they hold them hostage in front of you, huh? What will you do? Beg them on the ground?"

"Kill them.."

"Huh?"

"I will kill them.." Miles replied firmly and walked to the side.

William didn't block him this time but Dante.

"Kid, stay calm first. You're not thinking straight." he said.

"Calm?" Miles chuckled. "I am calm, it's not like my friends were getting beaten while we're talking here. And you said that I'm not thinking straight? Is me wanting to save my brothers, something insane? It's like you don't want me to save them and just leave them be."

Dante sighed and shook his head lightly. "It's not that, kid. But look at your eyes. Their bloodshot. We know that you want to find and save your friends because that's what you told us, and we're not against it. But if you're gonna do it, do it in a way that won't put you or them in any more danger. If you go there right now without much intel, you'll not just put your life at risk but also theirs."

Miles clenched his fist.

William patted his shoulder. "We will help you save them. But first, we need to see their overall strength and devise a plan to save them and the others."

Helen stepped forward and also tried to convince Miles.. "We still have two buildings to raid and increase our levels as much as possible. That might raise our strength even just a little."

Brent spoke. "Don't forget that we are also being very careful because of the enraged zombies. We still don't know when they will come again so it's better to be together."

"If you want to go alone, it's fine with me. But I'm telling you that the result is different if we're together." Dante added.

Miles closed his eyes. "I'm very worried about my friends…"

"And who's not? Who doesn't have a family or friend we can't contact or find? We all have. Each of us has a family or friend we're worried about. But in the middle of this chaos and shit, we need to clear our heads or else we will make wrong decisions." Dante continued as he looked around the team.

"This apocalypse is like a game, Miles, but the reality is that we still have one life. No respawns, recalls or resurrections. Just one life so no do overs." William reminded him and it not only reached Miles' ears but all the people around him.

It was a simple fact but something that they should remember all the time.

Miles bowed his head. Then, he felt a soft and warm hand holding his.

He opened his eyes and saw Michelle. Although she was not saying anything, her eyes were clearly pleading him not to go.

Miles held her hand and pushed it away from him lightly.

"I'm not saying that you should follow me because I also don't want you to get hurt. But I already made up my mind." he said firmly.

He continued walking forward with heavy steps.

This time, William and Dante both block his path.

"You're gonna go through me fir-"

Before William finished speaking, Miles rushed to the window on the side and jumped out.

Crash!

The glass was shattered and Miles fell out from the third floor of the building.

"That idiot!" William rushed to the windows and looked down with the others.

Bam!

They saw Miles land on the ground successfully. He then began running normally towards the direction of the Administrative building like nothing happened.

"Woah, he was fine." Brian muttered in awe.

"Amazing." Sheila added.

The others went back and began packing their things.

"Get our stuff quick!" William shouted.

He pointed at the five and ordered them too. "You guys help us get our things!"

"Y-yes!"

'Miles, you idiot. Do you still think our relationship is just that shallow? Do you think that we won't go after you to help you?' William thought and gritted his teeth.

After getting all their things, they quickly moved down the building and followed Miles.

Meanwhile, Miles began slaughtering his way into the Administrative building.

'Wait for me. I'll save you.' was the only thought running through his mind and he killed the zombies that were crowding him.

"Damned bastards."

He tightened his left fist.

'Fist Canon!'

Swoosh Bam!

The zombies in the front were thrown away by the force and their bodies exploded in the air. The attack emptied a small part of Miles' way.

He ran forward and activated the skill, now with his right fist.

Swoosh Bam!

His points continued to rise but he was not paying attention to it. He only wanted to get to Sammy and David as much as possible.

After using the Fist Canon six times, he slowly felt the pain in his shoulders down to his fist.

Miles quickly grabbed the health potions and drank them.

He was still basically injured because a few of his bones were still not fully healed. But he has no choice but to use the skills. He just has to make sure to not push his injuries more or else he might collapse mid way.

With his speed, he might reach the Administrative building in an hour or two.

On the further back side, William and the others were clearing the zombies that Miles left behind.

"Kill them quickly!" William commanded the team.

They were like a sharp pointed spear that cuts through the zombies.

Still, their slow speed was the result of having five people in their team with low combat power and agility.

Brian and the others could not keep up with their speed and the team was being held back because of that. Their difference in level was apparent and could be seen in how they killed the zombies.

William glanced at where Miles was going and he realized that he was already far from them.

'Are we holding you back all this time?' he asked himself.

He smashed the head of a zombie into paste.

'Of course we are. You're stronger than all of us so we surely are holding you back.' he answered his own question.

'Still, we could've helped even in a little way.'

Right then, he felt a smack in his shoulder. Dante hit him lightly by the handle of his axe.

"Think about it later. Focus on the zombies first." Dante said and resumed killing the zombies.

William nodded and pulled himself together, killing his way into the crowd of zombies.

Back at Miles' side.

As he continuously moved forward, the Administrative building eventually reached his eyes.

'Almost there! Just a little more!'

For all this time, he was using Heavy Strike and Fist Canon alternately and making sure that his injury won't worsen further by taking in health potions every now and then.

While his distance from the Administrative building got closer, he noticed the number of zombies gradually lowered, increasing his clearing speed as a result.

However, he was not aware of the eyes observing him from a window in the building that he wanted to enter and the people gathering on the ground floor, ready to welcome him. But how will they do it was a huge question.
