Here comes the Fiancee

The two children -boys- look at each other for a while as if telepathically deciding whether to tell me or not. At last it seems they make up their mind to tell me what exactly is going on.

"Young Miss..." The first boy hesitantly starts his sentence still uncertain whether he should tell me or not. Yet after a few more seconds he looks at me with newly found determination and starts his sentence from anew.

"Young Miss we've found out that the Sacred Family is involved in human trafficking. We and some orphans live on the edge of Glory City. For a while now, we've been noticing some the others just disappearing all of a sudden mostly the younger ones. So the two of us tried to find out what is going on by secretly guarding Xiao Chen with his consent and had made out a plan with him. One night while we were asleep we heard a sudden noise and were awaken by it. When we looked around Xiao Chen was gone but just as we had agree beforehand he left us a small trail of pebbles."

He suddenly came halt and looked anxiously wanting me to desperately believe him. Soon enough the boy next to me started continuing the explanation.

"We followed the trail and found him being carried by two men who were carrying the sign of the Sacred Family. By the time we had found them Xiao Chen was unconscious, it seemed like they had figured out that he was leaving a trail or that he was too loud. We silently followed them from a safe distance and they led us to a warehouse just by the walls of Glory City. We saw some other children knocked unconscious but we didn't dare get closer as the warehouse was being guarded by three other people. We then immediately made our way to the City Lord's manor to inform the City Lord."

By now the second boy had also become quiet and was holding back his tears before he bowed his head and shouted "Please believe us young Miss!". As he shouted this, the boy next to him also bowed his head so low that his head was only a little above his knees.

I was shocked and terrified and yet it wasn't surprising. Having read the novel I knew that the Dark Guild and the Sacred Family were secretly colluding over the span of several centuries. It wasn't surprising to hear them being involved in human trafficking after all that was one of the specialities of the Dark Guild. However I was shocked to find out that they were already this bold. There were still 10 years until the beginning of the novel and yet they were bold enough to let two orphans follow them.

Don't get me wrong. I admire the courage and solidarity of the orphans and yet it's hard for me to believe that the kidnappers didn't notice them. They are orphans without any sort of cultivation after all and I believe the kidnappers should have been at least silver rank to be involved in Sacred Family's crimes. There is no way they didn't notice the two children. There is also no way the City Lord doesn't already know about the Sacred Family's crimes otherwise they wouldn't have risked the children getting to the City Lord's Manor. It is just that the City Lord doesn't have any solid proof or enough power to go against the Sacred Family.

The Sacred Family knows that the City Lord is currently helpless against them and is using this situation to make fun of him. However what backing does the Sacred Family have for the City Lord to not confronted them even with the help of Ye Mo? The Dark Guild!

Either the Dark Lord is already Demi-God Rank, so Ye Mo is unable to even have a long battle against him, or the Dark Guild has someone who is either a peak Black Gold cultivator or even already Legend Rank. There are no other reasons as to why the Dark Guild hasn't completely swallowed Glory City yet, at least from the perspective of Ye Zong. However I believe the fact that the Dark Lord is currently stronger than Ye Mo but doesn't want to take over Glory City. He shouldn't be Demi-God rank yet otherwise he would have ascended from this plane before Nie Li. However his second in command or another high ranking person in the Dark Guild is still interested in taking over Glory City, hence why the Dark Guild is still active in Glory City but he shouldn't be stronger than Ye Mo.

How laughable! They are in a stand still with the Dark Lord having no interest in taking over Glory City hence not actively participating in the takeover and Ye Mo not daring to attack out of fear of the Dark Lord. And my father, a cultivator close to breaking through Legend Rank? He could break the tide and yet he would rather travel and cultivate with Ye Mo. This positions the Divine Family between two storms. No matter what happens we would be fine as long as the Dark Lord doesn't participate. This puts us in the ultimate profiteering position and to be honest I love it.

And yet that nosy part of me can't stand the fact that orphaned children, the most vulnerable in the society, are getting involved in this fight. I don't believe bringing these two boys to Ye Zong will do much. He won't be able to stop the human trafficking and it will just make them fear the Sacred Family more. The only party profiting from me bringing the children to Ye Zong would be the Sacred Family who would just continue as they are while also making clear to the people that even the City Lord won't touch them.

I must say they play quite smart if I didn't know who would win at the end I would be clapping my hands for them. Why didn't they have the same intelligence towards the end when they were confronting Nie Li? The MC Halo must be terrifying for them to lose to Nie Li. I want it too.

"Bling!"

I hear the all so familiar sound of the system in the otherwise quiet carriage that is heading to the City Lord's residence.

Summary: During the power battle in Glory City the rich stay rich and the poor are the most affected. The b*stards in the highest position stay safe even though they are the ones who started the fight. Even though Nie Li participates later on and punishes the Sacred Guild and Dark Guild, the people of Glory City have only lost one problem of many and are left vulnerable without any support system. Contribute to the people of Glory City and protect them.

This is nuts! 1:1 conversion to system points and every time I contribute I earn these points? HAHA! This truly is a system for ROBs that would drive any transmigrator crazy.

If I didn't know better I would have thought that I had saved the world in my previous life but I do know better and this is nuts! I was about to worry about how to build up the Glory City's support system because I am not as smart as transmigration protagonists that know how exactly to operate a government and build orphanages and so on.

And then I got this the answer to everything a system store with freaking low prizes. For 2 points I get to know how to build and orphanage or how to improve an education system. The more expensive things cost ten thousands of system points and they are things that are virtually useless for this dimension like how to build a nuke or getting the nuke itself. Why would I need this if by cultivating a bit I will get the same power?

Most importantly I can purchase cultivation techniques from the store that are at least on par with the techniques Nie Li and co use. I now get why there are so many OP fanfics on Wattpad and WebNovel it's just so great to getting almost anything by working "hard".

As I was laughing inwardly, the carriage stopped and the carriage driver opened the door for me telling me that we had arrived. The two boys got out first and I followed. As I lifted my head to see the magnificent City Lord Residence and two little cute buns running to me shouting "Mian Jie you are finally here."

"Bling"

These two buns were namely Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning'er, the two beauties of Glory City who will turn heads around no matter where they are but for now they are only two cute toddlers.

I hugged them tightly already feeling affection towards this cuties who are calling me big sister. I always wanted to be a big sister and have two little ones around me. Hearing them call me Jie just made me feel warm in my heart.

And yet another voice didn't make feel nearly as warm even though it gave me the comfort of familiarity. "Mian welcome back."

I gave a little bow and smiled like I always would when I saw him, my fiance Ye Han. "Han Ge I am back."
