Poison

After taking their bath, they met 4 maids at the door of their room. They were looking at Shiro nervously.

"Mistress, we are the ones who will be taking care of you." they bowed as they stared at the cute girl and the grumpy boy.

"Rather, I'm the one who'll be taking care of Shiro." a lady emphasized as she straightened her glasses.

"Aunt Sally!" Shiro cried excitedly as she went to hug her.

"The rest of you should rather attend to the madam." Upon hearing this they bowed, and politely left the room.

"Shiro and Tael, we had better get you ready for tonight," Sally stated as she chose clothes for Shiro.

When both Shiro and Tael came out of their room, they looked stylish. Shiro wore an ocean blue dress with flowers on the sides, and as for Tael… he didn't feel like wearing anything fancy so he just wore a pair of brown trousers with a chain on its side and a plain grey shirt.

When Jennifer and Isakawa came out of their room, Shiro went to hug them both and evaluated their clothing. Jennifer wore a light orange dress that had a belt around her waist and her skirt was an her skirt flared out from her hips.

Isakawa just wore a blue suit with a Diamond crystal around his pocket.

"So now we're ready to go!" Shiro laughed enthusiastically.

"Sorry Shiro, the family dinner is different, so we won't be dining with you." Isakawa informed her, his face sad.

"Why, Daddy?" Shiro asked with tears in her blue eyes as she stared at her father.

"Don't worry! You just need to act tough, and they won't fool around. Also, both of you, be aware. Everyone here is an enemy." Isakawa's face darkened a little.

Shiro and Tael nodded fervently as Kena came in. "Is the master ready to go?" She asked as her bright yellow eyes glanced at them in admiration.

"Yes!" they answered.

Kena nodded and waved her hands, and a bright light appeared under their feet suddenly. They disappeared with it.

Shiro and Tael were immediately teleported to the place they would have dinner at. Once they reached their destination, both Shiro and Tael were confused. 'Why are there only children here?' They both thought, confused as they remembered what Isakawa said.

They were in a huge dining room with expensive antique furniture. About 30 children and 40 servants were stood in the room.

All the kids there fell silent, some with a glint of evil in their eyes, while others stared in shock.

To them, they all saw an extremely cute girl with straight black hair up to her back. And her lovely blue eyes almost looked like glowing jewels. Some of the children were aware of Shiro and also the young boy beside her who had been releasing a deadly aura since he came.

"Who the hell are they?" A boy with spiky red hair asked in a low yet furious voice.

"I presume she's Isakawa Subaru's daughter," a boy with grey hair and blue eyes straightened up his expensive and stylish glasses. Those who were near him heard what he said and shivered in fear.

"Is she truly Isakawa's daughter?" the boy with red hair asked to confirm.

'It seems that the Subaru also has a different way to have dinner,' Shiro thought to herself as she saw an entire table filled with children of the Subaru family with no signs of the adult parents.

Krumi waved at Shiro and Tael, directing them to come and sit beside Sheila.

Shiro paid no mind to the other children as they stared and sat down next to Sheila with Tael following close behind and sat next to her.

Shiro and Sheila spoke to each other and laughed the whole time. In the room, most of them felt like they were two angels brightening the mood.

But they all have a reason and a purpose, to recruit teams for the Family Games. It was announced that during the family games everyone would not hunt as one person like in the past, but a team of 5. All the children are to hunt monsters during the next three days and survive in the Rift. Those who kill and bring out the most monsters wins and the last group would receive a punishment. So all of the children were trying to get to know each other and discuss the Family Games.

Once the dinner started they were served with many delicacies and the children happily ate, the same for Shiro since the food was amazing, until.....

The system just warned her about eating poison and also gaining resistance to it.

Shiro's face became stiff, and she looked at Tael, who was about to take a sip of his tea. Who would have thought that when everyone is eating together someone would dare to poison their food?

"Tael, don't drink the tea, there's poison in it." Shiro told him silently with a panicked expression. Tael quickly placed the tea down with a smirk as looked at the food they were eating. "Don't worry about me, I can handle it, but what about you?" He silently asked her with a slightly worried expression.

"The poison doesn't seem to affect me either," Shiro assured him. Tael was slightly surprised that Shiro could handle poison, he wondered if Isakawa trained her in poison resistance.

Tael looked at Shiro and looked at the food around where they were sitting. "They're quite smart to not poison the food but rather our utensils," Tael thought to himself as he glanced around the table. 'It seems that it was only us they were targeting.'

Shiro frowned with an angry expression on her face. If she wasn't an Ability User with a strange person inside her she could have been poisoned and died without anyone knowing. But now she had a way to increase her poison resistance.

"Oh Shiro, why aren't you eating? Do you not like the food?" One of the female kids asked with an evil smile under her hand fan. Shiro quickly stopped looking at the system that had disappeared once the girls called out to her.

"I don't. I'm not used to this kind of food, I'm not a fan of eating poison, thank you very much, so I'll have to refuse," Shiro said straightforwardly.

"Poison!!" They all exclaimed at Shiro's words. The maids began to get nervous and the children too were slightly scared. Who's mad enough to poison Isakawa's daughter when he's in the other room with the adults.

"Yes. It seems someone placed an extremely rare poison on our plates. I almost couldn't detect it until I ate it, but how unfortunate that such a measly poison is not enough to kill me." Tael said with an evil smirk on his face as he looked at all the shaking children apart from Sheila and Krumi.

"Child, I don't know who would try to put poison on your utensils, but we'll surely find the culprit," a fair male servant in a black suit tried to solve the situation since there was no exact proof.

"Stop with your lies, already. I'll just warn everyone who's here. Anyone who dares to mess with my family, I'll let Daddy know about this," Shiro warned as she glared at all of them. She finally understood why Isakawa said she should be careful.

Everyone fell silent after what Shiro just said. They knew that her father could kill their entire family, since he was an extremely strong Ability User whose power couldn't be ranked. In fact, it wasn't that his Ability couldn't be ranked, more that the information about his Ability hadn't been revealed

"Shiro, that's enough," yelled the boy with spiky red hair and dark grey eyes. He had a height of 130 cm and an expression that makes him always look like he's angry. He's quite a handsome boy with his slightly built body. He was the one who asked earlier about Shiro's identity.

"You think you can come here and disrupt the dinner," he said angrily.

"Ehhh," Shiro looked at him with a bewildered expression.

"By the way, who are you?" Shiro asked as she looked at him.

"I am Ray, the son of Takase Subaru," he boasted proudly.

"But how am I supposed to eat if there's poison in my food?" Shiro asked, confused.

"It's not possible. Who would dare try to poison your food," Ray said, frowning

"Then do you want to try it?" Shiro asked with a smile on her face.

Ray hesitated a bit, not because of him trying her food but the bright smile on her face. She was quite cute when she did that. He quickly ignored that and walked to her side of her table with a serious expression. He took a spoon of Shiro's food and was about to eat it.

"Young master, please stop!" one of the maids exclaimed as she ran quickly to him and slapped the spoon out of his hand.

"How dare you do that!" he said looking at the maid, astounded at her behaviour.

"Young master, I'm sorry, but I can't risk you being poisoned," the maid knelt as she looked at the boy with tears pooling in her eyes.

"How do you know there's poison?" he asked

The maid just shook her head, refusing to speak. It was obvious that she knew something, yet she didn't want to say it.

"So you don't want to talk," Ray said harshly

The maid still kept quiet as she knelt hoping that the child would calm down and let her go. But she was so wrong.

Ray's hand began to heat up and turn red and he immediately sliced the maids head and it rolled down the floor.

"That's for daring to try and poison a Subaru."

They all sat in their seats staring at him as the children could do nothing but sit down and endure the intense pressure.

Shiro was shocked about what Ray just did. He didn't need to kill her, they could have interrogated her. Why did he kill her?

Shiro began to tremble. Noticing this, Tael turned and wrapped an arm around her comfortingly.

Shiro then looked at the dead maid's body that was being carried away and the pool of blood was being cleaned. Red Blood was like the beings that appeared to protect her on that certain day. She caught the evil smile on Ray's face as the body was being dragged away, he then walked towards her. Shockingly there was no blood on his hands; they were clear like he never killed the maid.

"Hey Shiro, you'll be joining my team for the Family Games," Ray said as he tapped her slender shoulder, and what came into his mind was, 'So small.'

'Did he just recruit her just like that?' they all thought to themselves as they stared in awe. The possible reason why Ray chose Shiro to be part of her team was that she

maybe an extremely strong Ability User since both of her parents are Ability Users. And her father is extremely strong so she might have inherited some of her father's power.

"Sorry, but Shiro is already in a team," Tael said in a deep voice as he glared at Ray.

"Me, Shiro, Krumi and Sheila," Tael named all of them who are in a team together, smirking.

Ray looked at him angrily and threatened, "You'll regret this!" as he walked away back to his seat.

Shiro was just looking dumbfounded at the two of them, what did she get herself into!

"Umm Tael, I advise that you don't mess with that boy, he's dangerous," Sheila warned him as she looked slightly nervous.

"I agree with Sheila," Krumi nodded as she looked slightly nervous.

"He has a terrible temper and when someone angers him he mostly kills them or critically injures them but he can't do that to any Subaru on a normal occasion. He always acts haughty, tch. They mostly fear him because of his Ability."

"Don't worry about him. I'm sure I can beat him with my eyes closed," Tael said smugly.

'Compared to those things Shiro summoned, this boy is just an ant. I better also keep an eye for Shiro, Isakawa won't like it if her powers go berserk.'

"So Krumi, Sheila and Tael, who would be our last team member, because we have to be five," Shiro asked as she looked frustrated she was trying to process everything that was happening.

"I say that boy over there," Tael suggested as he pointed at a little boy at the far end of the table.

He looked around 5 years old. He had the darkest shade of black hair and deep grey eyes. He was petite, you would probably mistake him for a girl if it weren't for the fact that he's wearing a pair of blue shorts and a brown shirt.

"Are you sure we should pick him?" Krumi asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The boy seems to be actually stronger than some of the kids here," Tael remarked.

"Then I shall take your words into consideration," Krumi said, nodding.

At the other side of the room, there was a grand dining hall with a chandelier made of orbs, bringing light to the room. A luxurious dining table with varieties of food on the table that were served in beautiful plates, there sat 48 people who had the look of displeasure in their eyes as they glared at Isakawa who looked at them with a smug face as Jennifer felt the intense pressure on her shoulders.

'Isakawa what are you thinking?'
