1. The Beginning.

"Hey, promise me you will live,"

It was darker than the night sky, devoid of stars on a cold night. Yet it was as hot as summer. His consciousness lingered in this dark place, with no aim or destination. Moving about freely, like the wind.

"Hey, promise me you will live," a low voice permeated the darkness.

"Who's there?" he asked but was disappointed to receive no reply. "Who is there? Answer me,"

"Hey, promise me you will live," the voice came again, a bit louder than before.

"This isn't funny anymore,"

"Hey, promise me you will live,"

"Stop!" he yelled. His face tensed hearing the same sound echoing over and over.

"Who are you? Who the hell are you? Who…" he paused as a question comes to his mind. "Who am I?"

He didn't remember who he was. His consciousness continued to float aimlessly as he pondered about it.

The voice came again but he didn't bother with it. He had more important thoughts.

Where was he from? Why he was here? His questions repeated in his mind.

"Hey, promise me you will live!"

"Huh? Live?"

There was a loud quaking bang that forced him to open his eyes. He was greeted by a bright light and squinted his eyes. What followed was the bright blue sky and loud noises.

"Yeah!" came the cry of someone.

~Roar!~

"Die!"

"Ah!"

Screams, shouts, and cries could be heard all around him. He didn't understand what was going on.

He struggled to a seated position and looked at his surroundings. All round were golden sand, that complimented the blue sky. Large rocks could be seen, some cracked and some half crushed. Strange four legged beasts ran around, roaring while engaging people who were armed to battle.

Limbs flew to the sky, heads rolled on the ground and blood tainted the golden sand. The beasts looked like tigers, with no stripes on their body. They possessed two horns on their head and while some were fully coated in black fur, others were coated in white.

A fowl smell filled the air and it caused him to gag. It came from a corpse beside him. One of the beasts laid dead. There were three holes on its back, that looked very deep.

He couldn't stand it anymore and puked. The corpse didn't look like it had been there for long, so why was it smelling so bad?

When he was done puking, he struggled to his feet. Staying put wasn't an option, this was a fact he knew. He was too exposed to stay in place, he needed to leave.

"Die!" someone yelled while running past me.

Looking around, he had no idea of which direction to face. He knew he had to move but he didn't know where to go. In all directions, humans and beast fought and killed each other. Where exactly was safe? Probably where he stood. But that too was a misconception.

"Get down."

A voice roared, following it was a spear flying past his face. He placed his hand on his left cheek and then looked at it. His fingers were dyed red, he was bleeding.

"Huh? What was that?"

He swore he felt a feint pleasant feeling just now, but he couldn't understand why.

"Boy, stop idling around and fight!" the voice came again. He looked up to find a man running toward him. The man didn't spare him a glance and ran past him.

"Fight?" he muttered as he turned around.

He found a beast laying on the ground. The spear had pierced its skull and rendered it dead. The man pulled the spear out and turned to him.

"Where's your weapon?"

"Huh?"

"Use this until you find a better one. There are many around,"

The man tossed him a dagger and shot away, charging at a nearby beast. Catching the dagger with both hands, he watched the man leave.

"Live…? Fight?"

"Ah!"

A scream came from behind, interrupting him. He turned only to find a beast gripping a man, with its jaws and its paws. When the beast's gaze landed on him, he subconsciously took a step back.

Giving a low growl, the beast tossed the man away and charged at him. The short distance between them was covered in no time. When it was close, it greeted him with its jaws wide open.

He didn't know what happened. His body had acted on its own accord. It moved to the side, dodging the beast whose jaws snapped close. But it didn't end there, his hands moved immediately, and he thrust the dagger into the beast's neck.

The beast cried and fell to the ground. But he didn't stop, he pulled the dagger and stabbed its head, as deep as he could.

A smile appeared on his face. He didn't understand why but he smiled wholeheartedly. For reasons unknown to him, killing the beast had brought him not only joy, but a sense of accomplishment and an extremely wonderful feeling. He felt his blood boil as he looked around, looking for his next victim.

Not long after, he found one. His eyes met the eyes of a white beast, who was also looking for its next target. At its feet, were three corpses, each missing their head.

He could swear he saw the white beast smile at him. But that didn't matter, he was smiling too.

*Roar*

The white beast sprinted bearing its fangs at him. His smile got wider and he rushed forward.

In no time, they covered the distance between them. The white beast leaped at him with its claws out. He barely evaded it and then punctured the belly of the white beast.

The white beast fell but rushed back up. It turned around and quickly attacked him.

The white beast grimaced as he pulled the dagger out from the throat. He panted and smiled at it. The white beast eyes slowly dimmed, while its body crashed to the ground. His smile was the last thing the beast saw.

"Hmm."

His blood was boiling. With no plan of wasting time, he scanned for his next target.

"Use this until you find a better one. There are many around."

His eyes had landed on a sword and he remembered what that man said. He looked at the dagger and then at the sword.

"Hmph."

With a snort he kicked the ground and ran forward, leaving the sword behind. He leaped into the air before landing on his next target.

"Aim for the nape, not the back."

A voice sounded, followed by a hissing sound. The beast beneath him lost its head and fell to the ground. He stood firmly and faced the owner of the voice.

A young lady with red long hair that fell freely down her shoulders. Crimson colored eyes that matched her hair. She had a sword in her hand and a light armor that fit well on her amazing body.

His gaze wondered along her body and landed on her waist.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Give me that," he pointed. "Please."

She looked down at her waist. On her belt a pair of daggers hung firmly.

"I need one,"

Turning around, she swung her sword, cutting down a beast that charged at her. She turned back and squinted her eyes at him.

"What's your realm?"

He frowned at her and tilted his head slightly. "Realm? What's a realm?"

"I don't think it's a nice time to be flirting princess," a voice sounded.

A man dropped from the sky with an axe in his hand.

"Moss, I told you not to follow me and not to call me princess."

"Sorry, captain Bing Yu. And I wasn't following you. I was rushing to the frontline when I saw you flirting."

"What happened at the frontline?"

"The eastern side is collapsing. If it's not taken care off, large amount of beast will charge in from there."

"So annoying, what is…"

"Thank you."

Bing Yu turned to the boy, who had interrupted her. He held two daggers in his hands and smiled at her.

"How did you?"

Her eyes widened as she checked her belt. She had not noticed when he collected it.

"Captain Bing Yu, the frontline," Moss said.

"Huh?" She looked at him and then at the boy. "Let's go,"

The two flew up and shot away. They left behind the boy, who was still smiling. With both daggers in hand, he shot forward looking for another target.
