Kidnapping For a Settlement!

The conversation flowed smoothly after that, with the family discussing various topics. Min-ji mentioned an upcoming school event for the children, and Eun-seo talked about a new project she was excited about. Even the younger children contributed with their tales of school adventures and friendships.

Despite the earlier tension, the meal turned into a warm family gathering. Hyeon-su observed Na-ra, who was still quiet but seemed to be listening attentively to the conversations around her. He hoped that with time, she would gain the confidence to speak up more, especially within the family.

As the meal drew to a close, dessert was brought out—a beautifully decorated cake that the grandchildren eagerly anticipated. The laughter and joy around the table made Hyeon-su feel grateful once again for his large, loving family. Despite the occasional challenges, moments like these made everything worthwhile.

While they were having dessert, the doorbell rang. Hyeon-su's wife stood up from her chair and said, "I'll get the door." Hyeon-su nodded, continuing to enjoy his dessert.

As she walked towards the door, she opened it to find Min-ho standing there, looking slightly tired but smiling. "Good evening, Auntie," he greeted her.

"Min-ho! Come in, come in. We're just finishing dinner and having dessert," she said, stepping aside to let him in.

Min-ho stepped inside, removing his shoes and placing them neatly on the rack. "Sorry for being late," he said as he entered the dining area. "Had to finish the last task that Father had assigned."

Min-ho, a handsome young man with a height of five feet seven inches, entered while loosening the tie around his neck. He walked into the dining room and greeted everyone. "Hello, everyone! Sorry for being late."

Seeing him, his children got up from their chairs and ran towards him, hugging him tightly. "Father, Father, you're finally here! Come, come, Grandmother has prepared our favorite cake. You can have it too."

Min-ho, hearing his children's words, touched their heads lovingly. At this time, Min-ho heard Hyeon-su calling him. "Min-ho."

"Yes, Father?" Min-ho responded.

"Is the work done?" Hyeon-su asked.

"Yes, Father. It went more smoothly than I expected, so I could come back early," Min-ho replied.

Hyeon-su nodded in understanding. "Good. But you must be tired now. Go freshen up and have your dinner. After that, come to my study."

"Yes, Father," Min-ho replied.

Min-ho always called Hyeon-su "Father" even though he was his uncle. The reason being, when Min-ho was young and his father passed away, Hyeon-su didn't want him to feel like he had lost a father. He always loved Min-ho like his own son and had instructed him to address him as "Father" instead of "Uncle." Because of this, Min-ho always addressed him as "Father," although he still referred to Hyeon-su's wife as "Aunt."

Min-ho then went to the washroom to freshen up. The children, excitedly chattering, went back to their seats, eager for their father to join them at the table.

As Min-ho returned, now refreshed, he sat down to enjoy his dinner. The dining room felt even more vibrant with Min-ho's presence. The family resumed their dessert while Min-ho was served his meal first. Conversations flowed easily, touching on various topics from the children's school activities to the latest updates at the firm.

Min-ho, now relaxed, joined in the discussions, sharing some amusing anecdotes from his day. Despite the long hours and the demands of their work, moments like these—sitting together as a family—made all the effort worthwhile.

While Min-ho was still eating his dinner, Hyeon-su had already finished his dessert. He looked at the family, enjoying the warm conversation, and then he stood up. He thanked all the women for preparing such a delicious meal, as he did after every meal, and then excused himself. "Thank you all for the wonderful meal. I'll be in my study," he said, before leaving the dining room.

After dinner, as the plates were cleared and the children went off with their mothers, Hyeon-su's wife, sister-in-law, and daughter-in-law Soo-jin began cleaning the table and putting aside the used plates.

Min-ho then headed to Hyeon-su's study. The door of the study room was closed, and standing outside, he gave a slight knock on the door. From inside, Hyeon-su's voice came, "Come in." After getting permission, Min-ho opened the door and entered.

The study was a quiet, wood-paneled room filled with books, legal documents, and mementos of the family's history. A large mahogany desk stood at the center, with a comfortable leather chair behind it. Shelves lined the walls, filled with law books and framed family photos.

Inside, Hyeon-su was sitting on a chair with glasses perched on his nose, engrossed in a thick book. As Min-ho entered the room, Hyeon-su closed the book, placed it on the table, and removed his glasses, setting them on top of the book.

"Min-ho, have a seat," Hyeon-su said, gesturing to a chair opposite his desk.

Min-ho, after entering the room, sat opposite to Hyeon-su. Once he was seated, Hyeon-su asked in a deep, serious voice, "Now tell me, what is the progress of the situation?"

Min-ho replied in a matching serious tone, "Eric and his team have already captured the leader of that group of lowlifes. However, the leader is a tough one to crack, so just in case, we also kidnapped his family and a few other people close to him, along with their families. I think he will soon break down. You know how meticulous Eric's work is."

Hyeon-su thought silently for a moment before saying, "Give Eric a call. I want to know the current progress. Our client is paying a very large sum for this settlement, so we must ensure that all his demands are met."

Min-ho nodded, took out his phone from his trousers pocket, and dialed a number. Min-ho waited for the call to be picked up on the other side.

Saint Peterson Street , Pinecrest City

At the same time, on Saint Peterson Street, a mobile phone rang inside a modest house adjacent to a large church. A man answered, "Hello?"

On the other side of the call, Min-ho's voice came through, authoritative and clear. "It's Min-ho. Where's Eric? Give him the phone."

The man replied promptly, "Boss is in the church. Please hold on, I'll get him."

The man stepped out of the house and walked toward the church. The structure was imposing, its grandeur evident even in the dim light seeping through the windows. From outside, it appeared dark and solemn, but inside, a single light above the main altar cast long shadows, offering just enough illumination to discern the church's vast interior.

Inside the church, a man's silhouette could be seen kneeling in front of a statue of Jesus, his hands clasped in prayer. The dim lighting obscured his features, but his posture conveyed a deep devotion.

Suddenly, all the lights in the church turned on, revealing the intricate details of the grand interior. The man who had answered Min-ho's call walked down the central aisle toward the praying figure.

As he approached, he called out respectfully, "Boss, Sir, Min-ho is on the phone."
