The Final Date

I spent the remainder of the week doing three things, other than going to class, cultivating, studying my grimoire, and studying the book of forbidden spells. Ever since my first breakthrough, I made no advances in my cultivation. I wondered if it was because there was a large gap between the first level of cultivation and the second or if it was because I was being careful not to over-exert myself like before.

Studying my grimoire was also a slow process. Since Hugo himself was teaching me, I had to endure long rambles about Light mana and Dark mana. I thought that just by having a grimoire, I would be able to immediately understand and use all of the magic that was in it. I was wrong. Apparently, I had to actually seek an understanding before I could use the magic effectively.
