Chapter 12

Phoenix

A small bird made completely of crimson flames came out of the egg and gave another cry.

"Could that be the legendary phoenix? the mythical creature who governs fire..."

The bird turned its head to look at Siegfried. The moment its eyes meet his, He could feel that a mental connexion has been established.

Images started to pop into his mind and He was suddenly transported to a different place.

He was surrounded by a dark void, but there were many sources of light around him.

"Stars! I have never seen so many at the same time, and their light is so intense..."

He then saw something even more impressive. A gigantic blue sphere was right in front of him. At first, He couldn't comprehend what He was looking at, but then He saw the patches of green all over, and white shapes moving around the sphere.

He has seen shapes like those before. In maps...and the white objects looked like clouds.

"This is a world....an entire world is before my eyes. How could this be?."

He heard a loud cry behind him. The moment He turned to see what it was, Siegfried found himself frozen with shock.

In front of him was now a phoenix, of that, He had no doubt this time. Unlike the one from before who just looked like a small bird made of flames. This one was clearly an ancient creature.

Its size was absolutely massive, He wasn't sure which one was bigger, the phoenix or the world that He just saw.

"How can something this big exist? Could this creature just destroy that entire world if it wished to?, isn't that realm reserved for Gods?"

"Give up!, Oriane. All you have to do is stay at my side! We can rule the nine worlds together."

It was then that Siegfried realized that there was someone else in the scene. Between the world and the Phoenix, there was a man, a tiny man floating in this dark sky.

Well, the man wasn't really tiny, He was probably dozens of times bigger than a regular person. Someone like that would be considered a massive giant. However, compared to the Phoenix in front of him, He was ridiculously tiny. It was like seeing an ant trying to intimidate an elephant.

The Phoenix didn't speak to answer the man, but it soon became clear what its response was.

The Phoenix gave a loud cry and a ball of fire started to form in front of it.

The light from the fire was so intense that Siegfried felt like He was staring at the Sun.

The ball of fire grew in size until it was almost as big as the Phoenix itself and then, it started to move at a great speed toward the man.

He laughed loudly. "Is still a million years too soon for you to confront me!"

The man took hold of the sword that He was carrying on his back and held it above his head with both hands.

"What is he doing?, He should be running away from that!" Yelled Siegfried.

The man then brought the sword down with a vertical motion. A strong white light follow the path of the sword before shooting forward until it collided with the ball of fire created by the Phoenix.

Siegfried was already expecting that poor fool to be swallowed by the gigantic fireball, but what happened next was something that He could not comprehend.

The ball of fire that was almost as big as an entire world was cut in half by the light that came from that man's sword.

"How can that be?!" He could not believe what his eyes were seeing. Was this man also a God?

The light didn't stop after cleaving the Phoenix's attack in half, but it continued to travel until it made contact with the Phoenix itself, cutting one of its wings cleanly.

The wing exploded into a million flames and disappeared, leaving the Phoenix with a grievous wound.

"Give up already! You cannot fight me like that." The man ordered with an authority that left no room for negotiations.

The Phoenix however didn't seem moved by His words.

Its response once again didn't come with words. The creature covered itself with its remaining wing and its fire started to change colors, becoming brighter and brighter.

Siegfried had no idea what the Legendary creature was planning to do, but the man did seem to know because his expression changed to worry.

"Wait!, you cannot escape from me! Do you think that would be enough to get away from me?!. I will find you again!" The man yelled with anger.

The Phoenix had turned into a ball of white light and it was starting to become smaller.

"What is it doing?" Siegfried wondered.

The now small ball of light was incredibly bright. It then shoot itself at an impossible speed away from the man.

Siegfried expected to disappear in the distance considering how fast it was moving, but his expectations were once again wrong. Something that He could never imagine, occurred.

The small ball of light seemed to collide with something in the middle of the empty void and stopped for a moment.

Then...cracks started to appear in the black sky.

"The sky is being broken?" At this point, nothing could surprise him anymore.

The Phoenix passed through and went into one of the cracks, disappearing from the place.

The man didn't follow and just stared at the cracks in space that seemed to be healing themself very fast.

Siegfried wanted to see what the man would do next, but instead, He felt himself being pulled from there. After a moment of complete darkness, He was once again inside his soul realm.

He stared at the tiny phoenix, who was now looking back at him and He immediately understood.

"That was you, right? Those were your memories..."
