Chapter 4

Victoria opened the book and tried a spell from it. Victoria focused her magic on the door and accidentally made it shrink with her magic. Quinn said, "Victoria, you're shrinking the front door." Victoria said, "Sorry." Victoria stopped the spell and returned the door to normal. Alvin floated by Victoria and said, "Ok, maybe you shouldn't try so hard." Alvin grabbed Victoria's arm and said, "Focus your energy and let it flow through you." Victoria did as Alvin told her, focused her magic, and cast a spell on the front door, changing it into a different door. Alvin said, "See." Victoria opened the door and saw the library was inside. Alvin, Jack, and the kids walked inside and had a strange feeling.Griffin found a bust of the mansion's master, tilted the head, and opened a secret passage behind one of the bookcases. Ned looked inside and saw a staircase leading up, so he took a candelabra, walked up the stairs, and the others followed. They followed the tunnel up to a hidden room. They opened the door to the room and walked in. Once they got inside, the door shut behind them, and they started to get scared. Then, three vampires surrounded them and growled at them. The kids screamed because they were frightened, but Victoria snapped both sets of her fingers and transported them out of the circle. The vampires then tried grabbing the kids, but since the kids were gone, they missed and bonked each other's heads.The kids then ran through the tunnel, and when the vampires saw them, they chased after them. The vampires chased the kids to the end of the room and to a dead end, where they stopped. Alvin, Jack, and the kids looked behind them and saw the vampires coming their way. Since they didn't want to get caught, they tried to find a way out. Mandy leaned against the wall, and part of the wall opened up. Mandy pointed to the opening in the wall and said, "Quick, everyone, down here." Victoria said, "No telling what's waiting at the bottom." Mandy said, "Maybe not, but I'm not waiting for what's up here." Mandy jumped down the secret passage and slid down a slide. Griffin jumped into the secret passage after Mandy and slid down after her. Alvin and Jack then went down the secret door. The other kids saw the vampires coming, so they had to decide quickly. Quinn said, "You were saying? Victoria said, "Geranomo." Victoria jumped down the secret door, and so did Quinn. Ned said, "Hey, wait for us." Ned and Oscar jumped into the secret passage, and the door shut. When they reached the bottom, part of the wall in the pool room opened, and they fell out of the secret passage and landed in the pool. Alvin saved Jack before he landed in the pool and watched the kids fall into the pool one by one. The kids then walked out of the pool, and Victoria used her magic to blow dry herself and her friends.Once they were dry, the kids left the pool room and walked into the living room. The kids then started to feel a cool breeze, and Victoria got lifted in the air. Victoria began to levitate and floated in the air. Victoria said, "Guys, help." Quinn grabbed Victoria and tried getting her down but couldn't. Victoria then dropped and landed on Quinn. Victoria said, "Oops, sorry." Victoria got up and then helped Quinn up. Victoria said, "OK, guys. Safety in numbers, but let's split up." Ned said, "Are you crazy? When you split up, the monsters hunt you down one at a time." Victoria said, "Fine. Strength in numbers, we'll stick together."The lights went out, and a ghost hand appeared on Quinn's shoulder. The others screamed when they saw the hand on Quinn's shoulder. Quinn said, "Ok, Alvin, you got us. Good one." Quinn knocked the ghost's hand off her shoulder, and Alvin floated by the other kids. Alvin said, "Um, Quinn." Quinn saw Alvin in front of her and thought if Alvin was in front of her, who grabbed her shoulder behind her? Ned cast a light on what was behind Quinn with the flashlight on his keychain and didn't see anything. Ned turned off his light, and then they saw a ghost hand. They then heard laughing and ran for their lives, screaming.They all ran into a door and slammed it shut. Ned said, "Where are we?" Griffin said, "I think we're in a closet." Jack opened his eyes and lit up the place, and they saw a monster with them. Griffin said, "Oh, boy. Here we go again." The kids ran out of the closet, and the beast chased them. They then saw they were headed right for a ghost standing in their way. The ghost said, "Go, go. Leave this place." The kids screamed and ran in the opposite direction, and the ghost chased them. They then saw the monster they were running from. Quinn said, "We're trapped between these two gruesomes." Victoria said, "This should distract Mr. Ghost long enough for us to escape." Victoria used her magic to light up the hall and vanish Alvin and the gruesome ghost. The kids then ran down the hall and up the stairs while the spell was in effect, but when they left, the hallway darkened again and made Alvin and the gruesome ghost appear again. The monster then ran through the ghost, and the ghost followed him.The monster and the ghost chased the kids upstairs but lost them when they turned a corner. The ghost said, "Where'd they go?" The beast growled and pointed in front of them. The ghost and monster then chased after the kids, but when they left, the kids came out of hiding. Alvin turned visible again, Griffin and Jack came out from under the table with a sheet over it they were hiding under, Mandy came out from hiding behind a plant, Ned and Oscar came out from hiding in another closet, the wall turned, and Quinn came out from behind the wall. Then Victoria transported herself out of the suit of armor she transported herself into.
